Matthias Class Composition
Matthias is not a DPS demanding encounter, so I would go for the safest composition, which IMHO would be something like:
Chrono-Herald-Tempest-Necro
Chrono-Herald-X-Necro
Druid
Water staff camping Tempest
Where X could be any DPS class. A Condi PS + DH could be used instead of Herald + X although i dont find banners to be THAT powerful for this composition.
Chrono + Herald using Golden Dumplings handles might upkeep fine and without the drawbacks of short lasting PS might. They also provide easy fury and protection as needed.
Double Chrono makes easier to handle reflects on bad RNG situations and Herald can use Rite of the Great Dwarf instead of Vengeful Hammers if things get a little bit messy.
Healer tempest + Druid is clearly better than double Druid survival wise, usually but not necessarily at the cost of damage.
More or less what Varga said. Matthias tests how flexible your comp is, how sustained it is when everyone is taking lots of pressure from various sources. Necros help with that sustain with Plague Signet, which can peel the rampant burning and poison going around especially in the last phase, they just need to use the signet when they get 9 or more burning stacks (imo).
Double Chrono, Double Necro (You could have one go reaper for the additional CC if it’s needed), and Druid with a tempest occasionally popping water to sustain, you can fill in the other blanks. If you don’t have the 2nd chrono, a guardian with a well-placed reflect wall helps, and who doesn’t like Protection?

Thanks guys. Some really interesting compositions in here that I haven’t even thought about. For example, the double Herald.

Would 1 PS be enough to keep 25 might stacks on everyone? How would you make the subgroups for this? Maybe something like this?
Subgroup 1: PS, 2 Tempest, 2 Necro, DH (six people?)
Subgroup 3: Chrono + Herald
Subgroup 4: Druid
Subgroup 5: Druid

This is my group’s go-to comp for matthias, with the exception that one of the tempests is often a third necro or a second guardian, depending on what people want to play. We also sometimes use an ele healer. As long as people stay reasonably well stacked this easily keeps up 25 might.
We haven’t had problems with fury since a long time ago, but if you are then you can bring the tiger pet on your druid.
