Max Distance Ranged Attacking
In really high level fractals where its harder and a lot more punishing, I see your point, but in other dungeons I feel the opposite. I kind of hate it when people back way up. Boons are really strong in this game and having people way in the back when they don’t really need to be means they usually don’t get those benefits. Not to mention melee damage is naturally a lot stronger in most cases.
If you aren’t taking any damage there is good chance that you are playing too passively/defensively.
because not every skill on their bar is at the same range as their weapon, and more often than not they may be waiting for an opportunity to switch weapons and melee.
depends on class ofc, also consider that with abilities that pierce enemies postioning is key and is more often than not more useful the closer you are to your enemy because it’s easier to change your projectile trajectory and hit more enemies at once.

I’m just really frustrated in the numerous pugs I’ve been lately that kept wiping multiple times on fractal bosses especially at grawl when it’s crucial to be at near max range while strafing left and right to avoid arrows while saving dodges. I’ve been in some parties where even a guardian who constantly uses reflect and spirit shield couldn’t save the people who don’t utilize the support. I’ve also been in parties where I was the only “tank” class and we’ve successfully cleared these encounters without much problem. This is all in 30+ fractals difficulty.
Maybe the main problem is most parties just outright skip the tough encounters and seldom or never get any experience properly completing them. It’s just kinda annoying when a party gets cliffside/dredge/grawl as the third stage and one or two members openly say they hate the stage and those same people are the ones who kept getting downed/killed resulting in party wipes.
One of my biggest pet peeves in dungeons are people with a 1200+ max range (rangers traited for longbow for example) who sit near the door of a boss room. Then if they pull agro, they run away form the boss, pulling him out of the room, and sometimes reseting him. Alpha fight on CoE for example, can’t say how many times the last fight on path 2 and 3 have been reset because of someone doing this.
how can u tell what range ur at? guess and get Miss constantly? noty.

You should just know. After playing your profession for a decent time, you’ll be able to more or less eye ball estimate what your range to target is.

This pretty much should sum it up. On my ranger, I’m NEVER at 1,200 range because my traps are, at max, 600 range. While I would LIKE to be at 1,200 at all possible times, my utilities don’t allow me to be at my max range.
