Merge dungeons into fractals
Absolutely not. There are many players that love and enjoy dungeons as they are -including me- and do them just for the fun of doing them and not because of the all mighty loot, lord and ruler of MMO worlds. I know, the concept seems so odd that your head feels scrambled right now, let it sink for a minute.
I have absolutely no problem joining dungeon runs whenever I feel like it. Even at the crazy hours I play. If there are no posts in the lfg I just make my own. I clearly state ALL WELCOME and start the path by myself. Lo and behold, players start dripping like drops from a faucet and I have a full party in no time.
Dungeons are far from dead. Their population has been reduced and I vastly prefer it that way. There are only two kinds of people that do them now: those that do it for fun and those that do it for the tokens; and that is great. I actually prefer the latter as doing it with veterans is so boring; things die to fast, there is no challenge. A single player could carry a group before, and after HoT this is ten times more true; I am more than happy to carry my pug.
So if you don’t like dungeons, or you don’t like the new rewards, simply go do something else. Dungeons are OK the way they are. If they want to improve them great, but If they want to axe them I rather they leave them alone as they have for the past 3 years. We are doing just fine tyvm.
I think the only way to get more people run dungeons, at least to revive them, is to have a separate daily for them like fractal daily. Put some reasonable reward and I’m sure this daily will encourage runs.
I don’t think this would be good for dungeons at all.
Like kurogane said, a daily each day for dungeons would definitely encourage more people to run them, but they aren’t completely dead either so its not absolutely necessary to implement this. I actually believe the dungeon rewards are ok-ish right now considering they aren’t that difficult, just sorta time consuming for a lot of pug groups
The sad fact is that dungeons are bugged and broken. Not to the point that they’re unplayable ofc, I personally still enjoy running them from time to time. But to incorporate them into fractals, add a new daily system or any other system to “revive” the content is something they obviously won’t do. Anet was perfectly clear about dungeons being unsupported and even nerfed rewards originally to discourage ppl from playing it.

I completely agree with this idea! +1!

Don’t they have this already?
You get some extra rewards for running certain amounts of paths for day?

They appear in the daily rotation, but not too often. And ANet implemented a new Dungeoneer repeatable achievement (thats not its actual name) which gives you 5 gold for every 8 unique dungeon paths you complete. But that’s it as far as I am aware
There is also the repeatable achievement for AP, but those who are bored with dungeons probably did enough to cap on the max AP from that achi.
I dont think dungeons belong in fractals sheerly because of their length.
But I do would like to see a daily system like you see with the fractals.
1) Daily Dungeon (any)
2) Daily Twilight Arbor
3) Daily Ascalonian Catacombs
4) Daily Dungeon Hero (clear any path with a debuff challenge mote)
On a different note, though, would anyone be for a connection in the personal story? I mean, when you play the personal story you miss out of a lot of character development if you skip the dungeons and rush the story. I did all the story modes from the dungeons only after zhaitan became twins, and I’ve always regretted that.
And I just thought of something I know I’d enjoy:
Dungeon Vanquishing. Like in GW1, enter the dungeon and kill everything inside.
Every Vanquish will open the entire dungeon map, and will include 150-200 mobs, 5 bosses and 2-3 events. Events may be fixed, but bosses can be randomized. Like a pool of 20 of wich they randomly select and place 5 bosses. And the point of vanquishing is of course.. no skipping. Everything needs to die.

I really like the sound of the vanquishing. As much fun as it is to skip everything in a dungeon with your pug (/s), I would like to run through them all and kill everything with my group, at least once. Sadly though I feel that is more development time than ANet is willing to give towards dungeons
I don’t understand why people are constantly saying dungeons are dead… they may not be as popular as other content but they’re def not dead. I run dungeons all the time and rarely have problems finding groups.

There is a daily already for dungeons, if you run unique 8 paths, you get 5g and 150 tokens of your choice.
There are a lot of unique features and enemies one could recycle for Fractals, no denying that. Look at Lupicus, he could be turned into a raid boss even.
I like that they polish old parts, even that they reintroduce content they are obviously proud of. It is still about time we see something completely new for Fractals.
And I still believe that we will see changes to dungeons someday. May it be new ones or new paths in existing ones. They have surprised us before.

Which is, unfortunately, pretty poor. Fractal dailies give higher rewards for less effort.

At a guess, it works like this: Player A logs on, checks LFG to see if there is an immediately available group for the path he wants, then gives up in disgust because there isn’t and he cba to make a group and wait.
There’s also the possibility that between region and playtime, there’s more interest at some times than at others.
I agree that dungeons are not quite dead, but they are on their last legs. Rewards could be addressed in some way, but I think increasing liquid rewards would be a bad idea.
Fractals and Raids offer the chance of getting ascended gear through RNG or through using tokens. I think the addition of this into dungeons would be a nice way to revive it, both with the RNG factor and token usage. Maybe not using Dungeon Tokens as they are now, but some kind of daily reward as offered in fractals.
