I’ve seen two common mesmer builds: 6/2/0/4/2 and 2/6/0/4/2.
Looking at the traits, and situation depending, I don’t think there will be too much difference in dps. Both quote full assassins armor.
The first build assassins makes sense since precision would be so low. The second I’m reasonably certain zerk would have more damage.
Is there a reason beyond reflects for assassins on mesmers?

I never used these 2 builds personally. I tend to switch between 6/6/0/0/2 – 6/6/0/2/0 – 6/4/0/4/0 and 6/4/0/0/4.

Looks a little outdated now.
The wardens feedback several builds is using signet mastery with no signets for example.
The second domination slot would probably better serve taking mental torment or rending shatter. direct damage vs vuln stack output depending.
The limited build variety i number crunched, zerk gives higher effective damage, discounting reflects.
Looking at this as a possibility. I do like the lesser reliance on the clones/phantasms.
Calculation i’m doing is:
((Critical chance x critical damage) + 1) x power.
It is quite a limited formula, so i’m not using it to compare different builds.
However in the build linked above:
3983.6 assassin + ranger 70% crit chance
4061 zerk + ranger 63% crit chance
4080.96 assassin + scholar 62% crit chance
4130.08 zerk +scholar 55% crit chance
4030.208 zerk/assa ranger rune 66% crit chance
4111.104 zerk/assa scholar rune 58% crit chance
This doesn’t take into account the 7% or 10% damage modifier on the rune.
Compared to a guardian (which I run zerk/assa mix and get 58% crit chance, 67% with 4/6/2/0/2 and accuracy sigil fighting lupi). Considering without the accuracy sigil I had a little trouble 75%-0% lupi with WoR. My guardian is running at a little lower critical damage also though (206% vs 220%).
I can see why you need it. Leaning towards assassin + scholar though. Are the ranger runes needed for feedback 75%-0% on lupi (using this as a sort of benchmark)?
Edit:
That dps comparison helps considerably.
Signet mastery makes more sense using the signet of the ether.
edit2:
Assassins/ranger runes it is.
Thanks for the links jerem

You do not shatter in a phantasm build. If you do then it’s only at the end, where stacking vuln is pointless since the mob is probably dead anyways so you’d choose Mental Torment instead of Rending Shatter. If you expect the fight to last around 5 sec or less then you equip the mantra heal and start with 2 phantasms + BF and then shatter (illusionary leap is too long of a cast and is not worth the dps downtime). For longer fights you take the signet for heal, start the fight with 3 phantasms, and then try to keep 3 phantasms out as much as you can and the lower CD signet helps a lot.
Realistically though, mesmers swap in and out utilities so much betwen the fights that it’s just easier to leave the signet trait equipped at all times and save yourself the trouble of forgetting to re-equip it later.

so you’re not shattering even if the phantasms are about to die?
Interesting. I suppose thats where pistol offhand comes into play, so they don’t die so much.
Makes sense to make it easier for yourself since the difference shouldn’t matter with that trait.
