Hi, I haven’t played GW2 in a while and I’m looking for a profession to play Fractals Dungeons and Raids, preferably a prof that is part of the meta so that I’m actually allowed to play without always having to be a healer or buff bot.

any suggestions on prof / builds?

Reaper is a god on fractals, have a easy time on raids and dungeons, and have more than one build that is meta.

Qt’s list. Some other options for fractals/dungeons and you’ll want to make tweaks for different events and such but these are a great baseline to start.

Mesmer is your main buffbot along with Druid. Rev/Warrior are mainly buffbots but at least they bring respectable damage while doing it. Thief/Ele/Engi/DH/Necro are more your “DPS” in that what they do other than that is much more complicated to explain than I care for and they’re the highest dps of the meta builds.

every class got its role, and the role + meta is changing often. just get up all classes, or atleast a few of them

there are no healers or buff bot’s as you call them.
if you feel like you are a “buff-bot” with any class, you are doing it wrong.

every class/build got dps rotations and things you do in order to make your team better, which you mix with your buffing and which can be trained to perfection, making it far away from a buff bot.

If a Magi’s Druid is not a healing buff bot then I don’t know what is.

its also not suggested meta

you play magi’s if you are training/learning raids with your group. if you are getting better with your group, you wont need the extra healing/vitality —> you get to “harder” builds --> you play your druid on berserker or viper.

I’ve been inactive for years so I’m kinda lost where to start again. any place where I can easily find what is currently meta or not ? or do I just need to roam these forums ?

my current main is a DH with GS/LB which I find fun to play in free roam PVE but I have no idea if it is any good in fractals/dungeons and raids or not. According to the forums people complain about not being wanted as a DH.

Ele looks like fun, although I remember it being the most difficult class to play at release. did anything change ? will a casual player like me be helpful playing ele?

Thief looks interresting aswell. I always thought it was just a sPVP class.

What about LB power druid ? finally a good DPS archer ?

True and good point, as a PUG raider though Magi druid is the meta because, well, it’s almost always needed :s, hell in my experience bringing a second dps druid would often help.

Again the link above is your top tier raid meta builds.

DH is fine, people shun them sometimes in fractals because a stolen retaliation can be painful, but it’s really not nearly as big of a deal as people make it. It’s a solid profession though not necessarily sought out like it used to be (for that reason and it’s defensives just not being as needed). I’m a fan of Mace/Shield in fractals, is it great dps? no, but you have shield4 giving your group aegis, and mace3 if you block gives another aegis to the group, it can be very nice.

Ele as hard way back when because we ran might/fury production within our dps rotations while trying to survive without much support. Now they’ve buffed support through the roof (we now have real healers in this game) and PS war/Rev/whatever can supply ample might/fury Ele can be a lot easier. No more Scepter+LH builds, Dagger/warhorn is so much easier than the old Dagger/Focus builds. And staff, well, it’s slower and clunkier while doing a ton of damage as always.

Thief is great, a well played one is always nice to have. Great breakbar skills which is really powerful, solid damgae, blind fields, and mobility, you can do a lot with a thief.

LB is part of a power druid’s options, but sticking in LB is just not good. Making use of quick draw to get 2 rapid fire’s out and then jump back into your Sword/Axe(most likely) is your best bet there. Funny thing, Shortbow for condi you actually spend more time plinking away than on a power build.
