So. My biweekly challenge has started!

in memory of the cancerous phrase “Mix n Match” I’ve decided to hold a fashion contest with the following requirements:

• Each entry must have an armor combination that does not have more than one piece of armor from the same set. (For example if you use the Phoenix coat you may not use the Phoenix boots)

The usual limitations apply:

• Must be in a dungeon
• Must be YOUR character
• May be photoshopped lightly

Additional limitations:

• one entry per account

Prizes:

First place: the gem store armor set of choice

Second place: a 25 pack of transmutation charges

Third place: a 10 pack of transmutation charges

Honorable mentions (any number of people can win this): a 5 pack of transmutation charges

Additional consideration will be given to characters who fit a theme (a noble in CM, an Asura in CoE, Sylvari in TA, etc) and for any Charr whose fashion happens to impress me. Be aware that backpieces and weapon style/colors will be counted for and against your character’s score. So regardless of how sexy your sunrise is, if it doesn’t match, don’t use it.

Out of all my toons, this is the only real one that I have mix-and-matched with, and I like the look alot. I enjoy how my outfit matches my weapon, although may be difficult to tell by looking with the lighting. The Glacial Eye obviously stands out from the rest of the outfit, but I still wear it to represent my class and the name of the character, Glory Of The Snow. I believe the outfit looks to give off a more noble look, so I chose CM as the dungeon

Even though the name doesn’t suit it, I always liked making a paladin archetype when it comes to plated outfits, but with guardians I feel like I can ease off on trying for that look and add a little twist to it. I feel Arah was a reasonable dungeon to show off my character because the lighting is very soft in certain areas and there’s a great sun spot to make use of.

sigh decisions, decisions … I easily have ten characters that would qualify for this, and no idea which one to choose. This is harder than the last contest … I’ll have to seriously think about it.

Meanwhile, my little Asura warrior is still standing outside of CoE, begging me to have another chance at a contest, but somehow I feel that his cuddly blue quaggan backpack doesn’t quite fit the rest of his outfit . Maybe it’s time for him to get something more serious to carry around …

Bubbles Powderpuff supports her Honor of the Waves party in full Water Elementalist mode. This is one of my earliest “themed” armor combos. It has always worked so well as-is, that it has probably undergone the fewest changes over time. Everything just seems to work together so naturally that it looks like a full “set”. (I previewed the new Lawless Boots skin for this outfit, with it’s furry lining. But it has spikes sticking out that clipped horribly through the robe.)

I actually joined a PUG and fought to the end of Honor of the Waves. Not a big deal for most of the people on this forum, but far from an everyday event for me. Anyway, when we finished, the group wanted to continue on to the other paths, while I only wanted to take my screen caps. So poof! …out I went. (It was lousy lighting there anyway).

I wound up going inside under Story Mode and soloing the first group so that I would have the stairs for my picture studio. (Eir and Caithe stood behind me the whole time, annoying me by running back and forth, and sheathing and stowing their weapons continuously. I should never have revived them. Honor’s Claw was polite and quiet while I worked.)

Bubbles is fully covered, yet still sexy wearing:

Hm.. good question. I’ll say that hiding or unequiping them would work but that a few points off of my scoring because the spirit of the contest is to coordinate different armors.

Ok then, I had some stuff I was thinking about using that would make it full mix and match anyway. Now I just need to find the perfect location for a screen and I will post it.

The first picture shows Grok Krog before he enters the Catacombs of Ascalon.

Once inside he brandishes his weapon to be fully prepared for ghost slaying.

He begins exploring, while trying to look cool.

Sometimes you don’t need your weapon when you can pounce on unsuspecting foes

And finally, the 250+ year history of Grok Krog’s hating Mesmers with a passion continues

Edit: The armor is CoE Shoulders, Barbaric Chest, Named gloves, Vigil Legs, and T2 Charr boots. I have a T3 helmet equipped but he looks better with no helmet

Surely you can come up with a combo on one of them ^^

I’d also like to point out that your armor combos in your screens do not have to be in combat. What this means is you don’t even have to waste Transmutation charges, because you can simply equip any piece of gear even if it’s a level 1 to achieve your combo.

Meet my Norn Guardian, Lysander the Grey, based around the theme of an ice crystal guardian. Here is about to set off to cure the ails of the Honor of the Waves.

Idea behind this outfit is really inspired by the greatsword Crystal Guardian, and it beginning to corrupt its wielder with ice magic (as shown by the crystals spreading up Lysander’s arm).

Helm: None (headband is Norn hair option)
Shoulders: Scallywag Pauldrons
Chest: Dolyak Mail (Norn T1)
Gloves: Grasping Dead Gauntlets
Legs: Stag Chausses
Boots: Priory’s Historical Greaves

Had a hard time choosing which of my characters to pick for this comp, as most of my armour sets are very mixed up. Hope I chose right!

She’s now back in caledon forest to follow the path of well known sylvari who also went rogue, leading her to twilight arbor !

Nothing wrong as they’re harmless you might say, just shows the lack of improvement/content in(for) dungeons.

The first one is a referrence as to what I’m aiming for look-wise. This is my main, Floyd Hunter. I’ve been, since launch, aiming to make him look like the Priest of Grenth. Some of the pieces are missing, so I substituted with what I thought looked close enough.

The dungeon picture was in Arah. Broke outta Path 2’s map to get that one. lol

Well, sure. We can agree on that. But even if they pay attention to dungeons I’ll still be posting these contests. I hope your issue is with all of Anet + dungeons rather than with my threads
