More retaliation for guards
Pick a necro/mesmer on your side = gg.
Took me 3 runs of the dungeon to get the bug.
I stopped using my Guard in fractals when I got past level 80 and seen how badly it basically cannot be used compared other classes, I haven’t used my Guardian since.
The answer is yes. As currently designed, due to boon thieves, you cannot use a guardian above fractal 80.
Just dont blast light fields? ._.

Or better yet, change guard to necro, in which case the group won’t need to assign anyone jyst to fix problems your presence introduces.

No way, a guard is helpful in fractals. Along with a necro and a mes it’s very relaxed to play with.

So I don’t know about all the specifics on which builds and which weapons do top dps but
Why not just not use the Symbol button
Just use a sword and never press the 2 button since I don’t think it was good for DPS anyway
Use a greatsword and never press 4
Use a longbow and never press 4

You can. But then you remember that symbols are an important part of dps builds (and some support ones). By not using them, you significantly degrade your performance, to the point where it’s really just easier to use a different class.
I mean, yes, you can let yourself be carried, but don’t pretend it’s not a burden on other players.
By the way, i main a guard. I’d definitely prefer everything i said to not be true. Unfortunately, it is.

As long as guardian builds have been reliant on Symbols to do their maximum DPS/use Virtues line. It’s not as bad for non-hammer weapons but it still sucks.
These threads have previously earnt at least one note from the community managers that they’re passing it on to the devs.

One thing I would like to see more burning fields. Guardian already has access to them so it’s not like it’d be a stretch for some symbols to offer that.

I think that would be a really good option but I would expect it to probably come with an elite spec rather than be tied into one of the current specs. Then again it could probably go nicely with the Zeal GM trait.

thats a nice idea yeah
the trait should maybe have some other bonus too though and ofc Anet needs to take care where to put it in and which other traits you cannot take when chosing this one to not make it sacrifice important other stuff

it is just bad that you cant use that full traitline for support in PvE fracs because you are forced to go with that minor trait when wanting to use this traitline
