My First Time Through Arah
Luckily, only story mode is like this. And story mode is only like this since it got nerfed immensely and they didn’t bother to shorten the spawntimes etc. – And yeah, spamming 1 at dragons is extremely boring.

Good to know. I was about to drop this game and avoid it like the plague.
I get a feeling end game PvE is non existent.

End game is pretty much what you make out of it. Dungeon (solos) can keep you busy, wvw can keep you busy, pvp can etc. – If you don’t find any fun in it, it won’t help you though of course.

I genuinely like dungeons (explorable, though story modes aren’t usually as bad as Arah) and fractals. But I’m more than a little tired of them. If people around here seem jaded, it’s more to do with the fact that we’ve been doing the same stuff for nearly two years, not that the stuff we have to do is inherently awful. Well, it’s also that Anet has shown that they’re not very interested in (or especially good at) supporting dungeons and fractals. But still.
best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base.”
Pre-launch, Colin listed things that make MMOs bad. They are all now in GW2.

I’ve been doing WvW and sPvP.
Grew bored of them figured I’d try PvE.
Finished entire personal story in 2 days. Now I’m bored again lol
Try out path 1 through 4 in Arah. They’re a hell of a lot more fun than story mode is.
Yeah, seriously — don’t judge Arah until you run an explorable mode. The story mode is by far the biggest joke in the game.
You haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Lupi yet :-)
The Story Mode is clearly rushed content. The end fight is extremely boring and underwhelming, huge waste of opportunity. Bad work, Anet.
Luckily, they made some better explorable modes in Arah.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
The story mode per se isn’t that rushed. t But like Novaan already pointed out, the nerf/fix/whatever-you-call-it that was meant to make it a bit easier just went too far and killed the entire airship part of the dungeon.
I’ll admit the entire Zhaitan encounter is a bit anticlimatic. And was so even before the changes. Although I do like the cutscenes.
you may keep them to rear new and interesting variants in your basement.
Although I do like the cutscenes.
That’s good, because you’re forced to watch most of them every time….
In my opinion what they should have done was fastforward the airship with cutscenes + a loading screen and have Zhaitan crash the airship with the party members + a few others evacuating the ship in time and fighting Zhaitan in the lair.

I was about to write pretty exactly this: let the air ship crash and fight Zhaitan in Arah in a last final battle. THAT would have been what I expected.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Given what I’ve seen in other mmorpgs, that would have been preferable.
However that scenario would have made it more difficult to just disappear him opposed to actually killing him. The way they did it, he might still be around somewhere. Just too beaten up to actually be a threat right now.
This way they left themselves with the option of bringing him back if they need.

Actually, I think this is what they planned all along but due to having not enough time, they had to make it like… this instead, seeing there is a POI in his Lair you can’t get to and it looks like a huge arena.

Is that a challenge?
-cracks knuckles-
Mountain Goat time.
In all seriousness though, I think I remember being told that if you intentionally disconnect your internet before you crash to the bottom after jumping off the airship, you’ll log in at the bottom of the lair. Haven’t confirmed but I’ll try it next time I do story mode.

*You can’t get to normally. :P
I heard that too. Never tried it though… “Best” screens I got were when I fell through the killlayer without getting ported and landed dead inside the water. Friggin dead dragons taking up space.

Hmm….wouldn’t you just show up at the dungeon entrance, like any other time you leave a dungeon and re-enter? I can’t think of any dungeon instance where you can enter anywhere other than the main entrance.
I’d love to see what that place looks like though — maybe some l33t mountain goat or RAMjacker can take some pretty pictures for us?
