I noticed that my food buffs were disappearing -for no reason- in Fractals. It has happened so many times and was very noticeable but always attributed it to lack of attention and/or losing track of time or something. So, I did a little test to check out what was going on.

I used a food and an oil, both lasting for 30 minutes. After a quick FoTM round that lasted for about 17 minutes , I looked at my buffs and lo and behold, the food was gone, while the oil had about 13 minutes left. I did not die or get downed! What gives?

I know that food should persist through death/downed and map changing (right?), so this is really baffling -.-.

For what reason would food simply vanish? A bug? Some condition I am unaware of?
Also, has anyone else noticed it?

Ive noticed this too. Seems to happen after a wipe when everyone goes back to checkpoint and occasionally when switching to a new fractal.

I noticed this too! I was using some left over halloween food, for the +MF buff. I didn’t notice when it disappeared though, if it was in a transition from one fractal to another or when I died or what. It’s happened a couple of times now so I just stopped using it.

Ditto. Very annoying bug.

I’ve recently noticed food buffs being dropped upon downed/death outside of FotM. I’m fairly certain that this has not always been the case.

I can, however, definitely state that consumable buffs don’t drop on map change, outside of Fractals (tested specifically upon zoning from Lion’s Arch into surrounding zones, and from Queensdale zone into CM instance). If it’s definitely a map change causing this in FotM, it’s a bug.

Same. And it doesn’t just happen when you wipe. Our group didn’t wipe and yet my food buff kept disappearing. I thought maybe it was switching to the next fractal but no, I think it just randomly disappears.

Happens during the dredge only for us, ALWAYS!

It’s gotten to the point where I don’t bother using food because the cost doesn’t warrant the 5min duration you get (exaggeration).

In all seriousness, I would like to see a dev or any sort of confirmation that this is indeed unintended.

The only consumable buffs that don’t disappear are those handy dandy gem store boosters. -sigh-

Yes and it’s very annoying when you are eating 4s lvl 80 food and it disappears after 10 min.

Happens to me and few other players I know. Happened earlier today after I ate omnombar 3 minutes later it was gone, no reset, no dying, not even downed. It has to be a bug or maybe something to do with mobs stealing it away somehow.

Happens to myself as well, usually whilst fighting mobs with “Steals boons” tags. What I was thinking, is that the food bonuses are being regarded as boons.

Sometimes food buffs just drop randomly as well.

This bug is extremely annoying, and can be costly. Can we at least get an acknowledgment from ANET?

Yep. Another way to making cooking a lucrative profession.

Sick if dumping tons of gold for omnoms just to have them poof when we beat a fractal.
