You guys have already stated in other threads that youre prepping a patch that hopefully will increase the worth of both open world chests and dungeon chests.
Thats fantastic and I hope it goes over well.
But concerning dungeons, the real reason anyone does them is for those tokens, yes? Im proved loot tables will certainly make some like Kohler worth fighting again, but you will still have groups skipping him because he doesnt drop those shiny tears. Your DR system has made it that way.
On top of whatever improvements you make to the loot tables I propose this:
Bosses drop tokens again. As to the amount, Id leave that to you. But the player wouldnt actually physically be rewarded those tokens until the completion of X path.
Imagine you down a boss. You open the chest and receive your loot but you also see a counter (similar to a slot machine display) that shows your token count thus far. At the end, when you down the final boss, it “cashes out” in a manner similar to how you see XP float to your XP bar.
Now one could argue that this is no different than how the current system works. Im just splitting the reward among the bosses.
But heres the difference.
Since the game now keeps track of how many tokens youve earned, in the event of a sudden crash or loss of power, the game will recognize that this was not a manual log off performed by the player and will instantly reward said player with the tokens that they earned before the crash via in-game mail.
Now one could also argue that a player could farm the first boss by pulling out the power after theyd downed him, but if that boss only gives out 15-20 tokens, it would be a far more beneficial act to complete the run in full rather than turn everything off, relog and go in again. Especially if theres bonuses attached to daily first time runs.
What do you think?
