Do you really like Rangers? Do you get annoyed when people don’t want you in LFG? I feel for you.
Rangers have good DPS, but they don’t seem to fit in the meta as well as other classes, especially if the player is mediocre.

So here’s my advice:
Find a nice guild that’s not aiming for Tyria domination, make friends, play dungeons without stacking tactics and exploiting dumb boss AI and have FUN.
Having fun? PLAYING DUNGEONS? Ridiculous, I KNOW.

P.S. Same goes for any class/spec in the same situation.

I don’t see how making your own LFGs stops people from seeing you and saying “Ew, don’t want that in MY group”. But sure, if it does, go ahead. My bad for trying to make people ENJOY their GAME.

Or you could use sword/horn as well as use spotter and frost spirit. No? Then continue to be rejected from dungeon groups. A good ranger using a good build certainly has a place in almost any group.

Wait a moment. If I want to play with friendly, respectful people, joining a “ac p1 only lvl 80 w/g/m speedrun xp only 12k AP+++” is a bad idea? If I want to play with friendly and respectful people, I should look out for friendly and respectful people???

I don’t see why you should give a beep about those people? I mean, they don’t join your group and start trashtalking you, do they?

There’ll always be people who see reason and know good rangers when they see one, and then there’s the people who treat all rangers like plebs and kick on sight.

Bearbows do a lot more damage than they seem to, and I guarantee you anyone who skips this guarantee will take my comment the wrong way.

Joking aside, a well-built ranger is a great boon for the team, sadly most don’t. Also make your own groups with your own rules. And if ppl ever read your lfg msg, it will solve 99% of lfg related issues.

Almost right, the person controlling the ranger toon can make it look like it sucks or rocks at everything.

Ranger is great I will take a spotter ranger any day, I just hate when people join my Zerker/Meta/no ranged groups and complain about how I’m a jerk for kicking them(which I either do right away(non-80s/zerk) or tell them why I don’t want them and kick(non meta)). The real problem is people who put up “GLFM P1” expecting meta builds or non elitists. My main issue with rangers is that spotter is best used if there is only one spotter. Which makes multiple rangers really bad for groups.

from I gathered, the despise is on relying on LongBow, which is a dps-broken weapon.

I have switched to short-bow, I suggest you try the same.

Please, if you cannot dodge with your sword main hand, at least use a greatsword.
Seriously, please use at least a melee weapon set.

While I will never, ever give up my Longbow, I do echo the advice above that you should always have a melee weapon to supplement your ranged weapon. Longbow will not be effective in all areas (curse you mobs with unstrippable reflects!); sometimes you will need to go melee. Insisting on using ranged in situations that call for melee is what get other players upset at you.

I know maybe 2-3 players who can actually play ranger consistently at an acceptable level. Most rangers running sword/horn just end up not pulling their expected DPS and/or just eat every second hit.

Long bow and short bow will not work against Jade Colossus, Mai Trin, Dredge, blobs of Chanters, crazy Kitty Golems and Bloomhunger. I’m okay seeing rangers with bows elsewhere but the fact that long bow gives them the temptation to cc the boss whenever it’s off cooldown just irritates me badly. Fractal is the place where sword, greatsword and axe offhands all have their uses, too.

My advise for you(us):
-Go in Rangers forum, study the meta-build and use it(Never forget spotter).
-Put zerker gear on you.
-Choose your pets with some brain, not like "this one is more fluffy - ".
-Hide that longbow, keep it to kill Golem Mark II to farm Dragonite.
-Seal that shortbow into a metal box and throw it into the sea.
-Grab a sword and a warhorn.
-Spam might with your warhorn.
-Use skills that improve your damage, not that make you more bunker. (Frost Spirit#1)
-Join teams of people with a brain. Avoid the classic “AC P3 SPEDE RNU 100000AP++++GOGOGOGO ZERK ONLY PROS fzxw!!!!!!!!” trash. If needed, make your own LFG, won’t take you long to fill a team.

The name of bad class is made because of many bad ranger. everytime i have a hunter in my PUG i never see a frost spirit i always see them use BOW and this rediciolus signet what gives them more run speed and any time i ask one please dont use that its useless in COF they reply i play how i want …..

Ignorant Ranger deserve to be ignored.

ps same goes for other classes who go with defense utilities into a easy dunguon.

A lot of bad players seem to say they just play the way they want when you give them an advice that will help benefit the group more. I can see run speed signet being necessary when roaming on a big map but it’s just not rationale to use it in other circumstances.
