Just went 3 hours on an AC dungeon and ended up failing it (with pugs). First 30 minutes was trying to figure out how to reset the dungeon because it was glitched. We took route 2 and the last part where the NPC fixes the cannons the second cannon got glitchy. She carries on and tries to fix the third cannon, but we couldn’t finish killing the previous spawned mobs and when she was fixing the third cannon the 3rd pack of mobs spawned killing everyone and the NPC. Now she’s stranded and we wasted a good hour and a half trying to figure out how to finish the dungeon. The problem was whenever we revived the NPC she would hit the mobs with us instead of fixing the cannon. We tried to force reset the NPC, but it didn’t work. Killing the mobs was not possible because there was about 12 of them and my party was not top geared, but still decent. They follow the strats I gave them, but the mobs just hit way to hard! What frustrated me the most was not being able to get any rewards for the dungeon. 3 hours for nothing. GJ A-NET.

Only thing you can do in this situation is make your whole team stand way way back and leash-kill them 1 by 1.

Well at least the dungeon didnt bug on you. was doing ac earlier and hodgins suddenly stopped responding.

Why did we get useless content like halloween or the 15th nov stuff when most of the stuff ingame is still bugged.

Why blame ArenaNet for the fact that your group simply was not good enough form the Dungeon?

The Dungeons need understanding and knowledge of the game and your class. If you lack those they will be extremely hard. But when you learn that, they will become a cake-walk.

You do know that AC is a lvl 30 dungeon right? That means people that are doing it aren’t really lvl 80’s. They can’t understand their whole class if they aren’t lvl 80 yet. I agree that if you have an ideal team.. dungeons are a piece of cake, but srs the dungeons aren’t meant for a casual team, but rather an elite group of players. THIS IS A LVL 30 DUNGEON.

The dungeons require patience and willingness to learn. Some dungeons took my guild hours to complete before, but we didn’t let it keep us away. After doing them over and over and learning from our mistakes, we are now able to clear them easily without deaths. For example, the first time we tried AC path 3, we tried the burrow event for 4 hours. Now with more experience in doing it, we clear it in one go, and sit around waiting for the event to finish, rather than being rushed to clear burrows.

Not all players will know a dungeon or their class by the time they try AC. But if they let a few failures deter them, then that is their fault, not ANet’s.

4 hours for one event in part of a dungeon…no sorry. Level 35 for four hours on one part is a joke. It is primarily because the hit box bug on that section makes it ridiculous. I am standing on a burrow and miss 2/3 times with a greatsword as a warrior. You should not be able to miss a structure that large. Period. A few failures? 4 hours is not a few failures, it is the better part of people’s free time. I don’t know many who think the rewards are worth that effort. I concur, if you can’t do it with a 5 man party mostly of level 80s on a 35 level dungeon, something is seriously wrong…and you really are the only one with 4 hours of patience.

The 4 hours were primarily because we were stubborn and did not want to give up. There was an hour or so where we were waiting for people since 1-2 people gave up. We had no issues hitting the burrows (moving while hitting solves most of it for melee characters). It was more of prioritizing our DPS and deciding how to go about it. We got close to finishing in those 4 hours, but then other tries we would fail.

In the end it was a DPS issue (not a hitbox issue), with almost half the party doing little to no damage on burrows because they were condition spec’d.

Just dont rez the charr chick, clear the group then rez her so she can fix the cannon rinse repeat. You need to learn how the dungeon and npc work before blaming ANet.

Explorable is lvl 35.

Keep in mind that Dungeons are more or less the ONLY thing that is remotely hard in GW2. They need understanding of the game and your profession.

If you don’t have that you will have to learn.

I did all dungeons “on-level” with my first character. Sure, they were hard and a bit annoying, but it is still very possible to complete them as long as you actually pay attention to the fights.

  • Don’t rez Detha until mobs are cleared out, since every time she rezzes more mobs will spawn
  • This situation is the worse that can happen in that path, leashing and killing them one at a time is your best option if you lack the firepower
  • Call targets and focus fire big threat mobs first, if you have good AoE cc/damage then pile them up
  • This is a lvl 35 dungeon, but not a lvl 35 PvE difficulty
  • If you fail, avoid graveyard rushing, regroup and rework your strategy
  • Use LoS from pillars and if focused by mob warrs kite them around (usually happens to high toughness chars)

Good utilities&skills to use from different professions in that area:

Necro: well of suffering, well of darkness, epidemic for condi spreading if condi necro or well of power to cleanse conditions, plague form for blind spamming. Basically condition management and interrupt mob necros life siphon with fear.

Warrior: CC from mace+shield or hammer, signet of stamina, longbow, gs or dual axes for AoE. Either CC biggest threat or keep mob warrs under control.
Guardian: symbols, shout buffing, conditions to boons and ofc gs 5 to pull them all together

Mesmer: time warp for AoE burst, null field for cleansing, feedback against rangers/eles, izerker for AoE
Thief: shadow refuge, cluster bomb spam, poison, direct single target burst against biggest threat

Ranger: barrage, traps, bleed spam works wonderfully with a condi spread necro. Focusfire on threat.

Elementalist: pretty much everything, AoE damage and support

Engineer: bombs, turrets for turtling, AoE damage and support

Threat list (based on my PoV):
1. Monk (steady and huge damage that bounces, buffs others mobs, heals)
2. Ele, Necro (if necro can be CC’d, focus ele down first, squishy and huge damage)
3. Ranger (can be higher in list if group has no stability, knockbacks/cripple&bleed traps can be very nasty)
4. Warrior (stuns, selfheal that can be interrupted)

Nirvash!!! I was with you on that dungeon run (Alfred stormpaws.). I agree it was incredibly frustrating. I understand those who like the challenge and I think that’s great, but I agree with nirvash that a level 35 dungeon doesn’t really need to be this difficult and frankly obnoxious. Why can’t we have difficulty levels? Also, in my opinion having mobs with unnecessarily high hit points isn’t fun anyway…..don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love this game. There are just areas where it seems to fall on its face a bit. If anet fixes these areas the game will be a masterpiece.

Exactly. There is ONE area in the whole game that have any kind of challenge and that is Explorable (Hard mode) Dungeons. Everything else in the game is quite easy. Why not let us have at least something a bit diffcult?

I didn’t realize the explorable mode was hard mode…. Not being sarcastic. Even the story mode though seems a bit much. I’m sure there are people reading this thinking to themselves that I shouldn’t be complaining cause it’s too easy… But why not just have different difficulty levels with scaled rewards?
