Guild Wars 2

Now that mostly everyone is in the 10-20+ range, the people who didn’t bum rush the dungeon when it released are basically stranded in the single digit difficulties. There is no reason (that I know of) for anyone to go from level 26 to level 3, and do it all over again.

Now I’m not against having the ascended tier of gear, which is amazing gear, but unfortunately, I’m basically locked from getting it due to my FotM level.

Just wanted to share my thoughts on that.

Also, it doesn’t really seem like anyone wants to do the original dungeons anymore either. Took me a week and a half to find a group to finish my personal story.

As I much as I didn’t really want it, I’d love to have NPC heroes/henchies to help when finding a group can take a whole day or more.

Are you using GW2lfg? I’ve not had problems finding 1-10 groups on alts.

I tried using it. Found one guy who hadn’t found anybody else.

I refuse to use GW2lfg because my university AV system has declared it a viral infection node.

I’m stuck at level 1/2 because of this crap. Nobody wants to go through them with me. I can’t even do my monthly because of it.

AN, I’m disappoint that you didn’t include a fix this patch.

I just started using my guardian on Fotm and got to lvl 7 in a 3 days. Granted it is harder than before but it is still doable. As for gw2lfg, if you are really concerned bout the security aspect, you can just view the listings without posting for one. It does track IP addresses but it needs that to enable ppl to delete fulfilled lfg requests.

All i can say is if your guild is not willing to help you do the lower level fractals then you need to find a new better guild filled with people who care for more then just themselves.

while I (and guild) prefer to run 10+ and evens only, we run lower level fractals (maybe with alts) to catch guildies up so we have a larger pool to do our dailies with and not need to run pugs. It is also helpful to get people your regularly running with up to 10+ for better gear to make other runs easier (not that many dung runs are hard)

We also know how bad most pugs are from 1-5 or so as people do not know what they are doing (unless you get someones alt) or have not progressed because they have unstable connections but keep trying to do fractals and thus tend to do them only if we have 3-4 from guild to run them.

I’m not even partaking in this fractal bullkitten for all these reasons. It is horrible design. I might consider it again when they make everything based on tiers. Cap the “Endless” nature and make tier achievements account bound.

Its obvious the current design was delibrately made flawed in order to drag things out so that hardcore PVE-only players will keep logging in.

the fractals are fun. but i feel some of the core mechanics can be polished a little.

quick question now – i just made it to lvl 4 yesterday. trying to do my monthly well and didn’t care for the fractals AS much. though i do want to experience all of them eventually. if i went back down to lvl 1 to help someone, will i lose my progress of lvl 4?

if so, that in itself, is another design flaw which just further segragates players.

The problem isn’t that its not doable. The problem is that its the same “game” all other “normal” MMOs are: keep up or climb up. This wasn’t what GW2 was supposed to be. Aside for the (very short) climb to 80, you were supposed to get up to par very easily, and then just be able to do whatever and play with anyone.

I’ve done the whole “hardcore progression guild” thing, with great success in other games. Still hate it. Its not that people aren’t willing to go back down. Its that if you help everyone, you’ll spend hundred of hours going back down and never go up (unless the guild is totally static), especially as new players come in and old players leave. In the short term its fine, in a few months it gets old fast and forces you to play 10x more than you normally would. The game worked so well (to its original target audience) until this stuff came up…

I second GW2lfg.com it is even a sticky in this very thread. Until the team comes up with a true LFG tool this is the next best thing. I haven’t had any issues. You are basically polling all servers and can match-make through any server via overflows.

Do you have a smartphone? (or even a regular phone with a web browser might get it, pretty simple site) Smartphone would be perfect.

Best thing until there is something official. They did a great job on it imo.

I ran my first 10+ pug and it was night and day from anything I ran 1-9. The whole thing with Jade Maw took about 40 minutes V the usual 1:40 it does with Pre-10 groups…. I’m actually really enjoying it now.

i’m on 35 and i have the same feeling as you… i’ve been looking for a 35 group for days now… the most i’ve ever found was 2 others and they dropped out because we had been looking for others for hours

No. The issue that I addressed was about the difficulty about finding the appropriate group for fotm, and not discussing about the mechanisms of the matchmaking. The matchmaking mechanism is flawed I agree but it isn’t what I was discussing about.

Leveling from lvl1 to 7 in 3 days is my personal anecdote and I also mentioned that it is harder (I have another character at lvl 26). I split it in 3 days to get more tokens from the dailies. I just saying at this point time, it is still doable. That’s all.

Do you really think it’s easier to find a group for something like 17 than a group for 1/2/3?

Level 1 : 4 posting on gw2lfg

One that’s not even 10 minutes old looking for 2 members.

Level 23 : nothing

No LFM, no LFG, absolutely nothing.

My main problems with fractals are:
- anti alt mechanic. My main for fractals now is guardian. But what when I get bored and want to play with elementalist for example? Grinding 20/30/40 or whatever levels to just “play” is stupid.
The same with gear. To use alt I need another back slot, another rings etc. Making dungeon for your “main” only is just bad idea.
- too much levels per tier.
- lowest level as party level. this is just bad design.
- rng everywhere. rng for ring, rng for loot, rng for “difficulty”, rng to get infused (because even getting mats for recipe is rng)
