I have created a website where you can list yourself as looking for group. You should be able to list your character name and say what you are interested in.
I hope it will help with finding groups easier. No more needing to sit in Lions Arch and only spamming your server.
Let me know what you think, and how it could be improved.

Also, you know there are tons of other people on other servers doing the same.
That is why I thought a website you could jump on, and post that you are looking for a group would be easy.
Just invite them no matter what server you are on, and you should be able to join up in the dungeon.

Y’know what would help more? a huge TS or Mumble server… So you could check instantly if they were still looking, without having to /friend or PM them in game

Hmmm, not sure how you would pull that off. Not everyone has those installed, and everyone trying to talk at once would get pretty crazy.

So opening the contact tab (Z -key) and clicking the tab Looking for Group, does not work for you guys? As far as i know, it shows all players that are in the Looking For Group status near you.

No because not all people sit on the map with the dungeon located, the bulk amount of people are sitting in lions arch.

Also people on other servers. You will be able to group with people in all places.

It works only for the zone you are in on the server you are in, which basically limits like 99% of the playbase who is actually lfg.

can’t tell if you’re being facetious or not … Mumble/TS has channels that divide clients up by categories. In this case, it would be which dungeons they were specifically looking for or are already in. (though there could be a general “looking for ANY” lobby too) …but just like anything else, Official LFG tools included > > It’s all going to depend on how well promoted it is. Sometimes the playerbase in some games is so unbelievably stupid that they can’t even use Developer-provided tools right.

A quick idea. If it takes off, which it should, you may want to add a drop down for each dungeon. It will make it easier to find a group rather than scrolling down through a page or two of random lfg want adds.

A more user friendly www would be nice too. maybe gw2lfg.

For the most part, it seems to have attracted quite some attention. After putting in my request for CoE, I got a response back in about 5 minutes and got our dungeon running soon after.

A small suggestion: put a little tick box asking if one is willing to Lead the group. That way, a leader would be established from the get go. Most of the time, I usually like to follow someone around who looks like they know what they’re doing, but if I’m feeling the mood, I’ll announce and take point.

Also: add a filter so that we can choose to display only European or North American LFG requests. I learned the hard way that I can only do dungeons in my own region, but at least I know about it now.

Aside from that, keep up the great work and I hope ANet decides to implement their own in-game version. It would really help for people like me that loves to run dungeons but can’t be bothered to wait a long time to build a group.

I commend you for the website development and all it’s great programming but….

why would anyone in their right mind go outside the game to find a group ?
as if it’s that difficult to find a few people to run a dungeon ingame or through the ingame LFG mechanics, and even if those mechanics still don’t get you a group you do have the map channel real time chat to all players online to try and fill that 1 spot and all of this ingame !

I hope arenanet doesn’t budge and NEVER develops a wowask style LFG tool EVER.
I run dungeons all the time and have never had any issues finding players to do them
and that was before dungeons were a req. for monthly, now it’s even easier.

This ^ It’s a real help when we have limited options at this point in time.

I could probably see a reason why one would refuse to use a 3rd party website and wait for an official in-game tool. ANet probably wouldn’t know how many groups were formed by spamming Lion’s Arch, in guild, or from a 3rd party website. What they would see is “Oh! Lots of people are running dungeons! Looks like there’s no need for an improved LFG tool after all!”

3rd party tools are like a double-edged sword, especially really good tools. If proven to be a great convenience, then it can be difficult to live without it; but by using it, does ANet know if you formed your party with it?

I’m willing to bet that they have the capability of monitoring dungeon activity, but I don’t think they have any clue how the parties were formed before the dungeon was initiated, unless they dig hard enough through preceding chat logs.

Nice job. Simple website and easy to use.

Only thing is I could see this get somewhat messy when, if ever, get more popular. Maybe a search function for each dungeon in the future or an order button to swap between AC to Arah or Arah to AC?

They had a perfectly fine system in GW1 for finding groups. You could put descriptions of what you were looking for. So odd that they didn’t keep or modify it…

There is no viable in game solution. Sure people are looking for groups but which dungeon are you wanting to run? What path? Need story mode? Good luck. Joined with some people on LFG and they had been trying for 30+ minutes to get a full group. If you don’t run CoF or AC finding a group is difficult at best.

Wasn’t one of the selling points of the game that you could sign up and do dungeons quickly? I see no good option to make that happen. I have to spend on average 10 minutes to find a dungeon to run and even then I am just looking for a group that already exists and isn’t running CoF or AC.

If you think that is a bad stop gap measure fine, but at least is is helping mitigate the time to find people to run with. Spamming in map chat in LA shouldn’t even be needed and is a design flaw in the game. You should be able to go the dungeon of choice and click on something to get in a que then be able to play in game like the que for WvWvW. Even better would be a drop down like WvWvW and join the dungeon form anywhere in the world.

BTW not meaning to flame on your post just quoted it to use it as a reference to all of the above posts.

Thanks for all the comments! Love to hear everyone’s take on it. I love to be able to find people from different servers quickly.
I am they will add something or improve the in-game LFG at some point. But in the mean time, I love being able to find groups quickly for all the dungeons.

Also we have a IOS phone app coming shortly too.
