New dungeon?
Nope, not ever. Not even once.
get it
I guess Molten Facility, Fractals of the Mists, Aetherblade Retreat and Scarlet’s Playhouse aren’t dungeons then.
We won’t get any made by an actual dungeon team, but the impression I get is the Living Story guys actually do a better job of it than HP Pools of the Waves.
Morrï (Mesmer) | Serah Mahariel (Guardian) | Morrï Mahariel (Warrior)
“colesy’s on rampage today. Slaying casuals left, right and centre” – spoj
Is there ever gonna be another dungeon?
Nope.
YES! Super Adventure Box – World 2!
He probably means dungeons with explorables modes, which we havent gotten yet.
I’ll just leave this here:

Today marks the release of the last bit of content I built for ArenaNet. I had always hoped my last hurrah would be an epic dungeon that would stand the test of time, and provide entertainment for players to the very end… but instead it’s an instance that will only persist for two weeks, and then go away.
That’s not to sound gloomy or anything – just that things don’t always go the way you hope they do. I still had a great time, met some amazingly talented and good people, and got to work alongside friends – not just coworkers, but people I consider friends. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity, and just wish I had done more with it.”

The outlook for dungeons looks even gloomier.
Sigh.
I guess Molten Facility, Fractals of the Mists, Aetherblade Retreat and Scarlet’s Playhouse aren’t dungeons then.
MF was only a story mode mini dungeon that is retooled into a fractal. AR same story. SP same kitten story. FotM was the actual last “real” content we got and it was released last November
9 months without any updates. This game has so much wasted potential.

First they will remake the actual dungeons 3×.
snippity snip
Can’t find that anywhere was the topic/post removed?
No new real dungeons until an expansion imo. No expansion until Ncsoft decides casuals aren’t profitable enough to pander to with temporary gimmicks and cash shop crap. Expansion not planned this year. If all of a sudden they started developing one, it would be in development next year, with a release date of at the very soonest, another year later. Yes ladies and gents, we’re looking at a long time. Enjoy your lion cub minis and broomsticks!
Robert Hrouda got the cut. He’s gone. Yes, he wasn’t great. But he was the last bastion. The last person who gave a flying f-kitten-ck about permanent dungeons with token rewards. And they got rid of him. I’ll let people decide for themselves what that means for the future of real dungeons in this game.

I guess the only question now …. which neither Colin, Jeffrey, nor Josh will ever answer…
…Is what kind of “specialist” will they be putting in to oversee this content now?
What sort of producer. …basically the Sous Chef: Will they follow the design template we saw with Keil’s Investigation during dragon bash with flashy 1-timers not meant to be repeated (just like Story Dungeons). Or will they go for something that stresses personal skill progression itself like Hrouda’s final (yet temporary) addition to the game currently lauded as the hardest thing added to the game (by people who obviously never soloed Lupicus).
Personally I’d prefer to see Neither.
I think there’s an entirely different route here they haven’t even considered.

What do you mean that he got the cut? He left the company?
No way….

It’s sort of strange. Apparently A-Net has a no lay off policy, but it appears that on RH’s facebook he was pressured to resign or was fired gracefully or something like that.

That’s what it sound like, he either found a new job or was let go. Hadn’t seen him posting in a while and his last post was nearly a month ago.

The best part is even though he’s trying as hard as he can to sound neutral.. you know he’s annoyed XD

was going through my travel bag today and found my design notepad full of GW2 dungeon designs. There was a pang of regret in thinking about things, but the spark and desire is still there to keep designing and building. When I get back from this vacation with the family (Oregon coast), I’ll be eager to find somewhere willing to pay me to do it. I’m glad this experience hasn’t broken my desire for it – I love it, and I can’t wait to get back into it. the encouragement from my friends has been very appreciated throughout this entire thing.

You know I really feel sorry for him. Of course I don’t agree with alot of his design ideas. But he seems passionate about what he was doing and he lost his job likely because the casual bs temp content being churned out was more important to his employer. He really sounds depressing. :/

Minigames are going to be the main focus for this game, pack up and go home all

I wonder why truth is always so…. depressing. This game has such a great potential, yet it might turn into some utterly pathetic mélange of minigames and stupid cash shop fluff. Why? I’m so confused.
Is the answer just… money? Do they really think GW2 isn’t worth investing anymore, and they must milk the mindless idiots before it dies out?
I feel so sorry for Hrouda. He cared at least.

Oh they believe it’s worth investing in. They believe it’s worth investing the minimum amount of money, whilst taking as much as possible to profit from and pump into their other cashcow games such as aion and lineage. Don’t get me wrong, there is money invested, but it’s only being invested in what will = the most profit. And atm Ncsoft knows that it’s more profitable to sit here and milk the casuals than to make an expansion or add perma content which would require more resources.

One of the things that bugs me about the LS stuff is they way they sell it, “NO GAME HAS EVER ADDED CONTENT LIKE THIS”
Umm, City of Heroes much? After CoV dropped in I6, the Issue release schedule was quite frequent, and aside from the two that added expansion-levels worth of content, they were all free updates that changed the world you play in in actually significant ways.
Yeaaaaaah, right….. another dungeon hahaha. If after a year they haven’t added anything other but fractals, you know its far from their priority
