New(ish) - What should I expect?
Research helps outside that ask for teachers and be a good student, we have stickies in this forum for people who are up to teach.
I also advise either joining guildmates, or if you want to pug it, make your own group using the lfg tool. This way you can advertise that you are new and looking for help, can make good friends this way and meet some awesome people! LFG, since it constantly refreshes, can look misleading. Often times it will seem empty, but due to this constant refreshing groups come and go fast. And a lot of people who dont want to start their own group are just watching it waiting for one to pop up too. Hope that helped a bit!

The story mode dungeons are very easy, but some of then take a longer time to fill a group because they dont reward much gold, but you can do then while you are leveling with no problem. The explorable mode paths i recommend you to wait to do then at lvl 80, unless you have friends or guildies that will run it with you, lvl 80 characters are much stronger even with the downscaling. In gw2 you can do the low lvl dungeons with a max lvl character with no problem, since the loot and rewards are good for lvl 80s too.
You will have to pug at some point, as everyone does, but it’s because it is part of the learning process.
Your concern makes a lot of sense to me, it is not fun to me to be forced to read up on tons of information when I want to just play the game. I get you, so if it helps at all what I found best to first learn the dungeons aside from joining pug groups was to attempt to solo it and if I got stuck on something I would then turn to youtube or google search.
I did that back in 2013 so it’s definitely going to be the case that there will be a lot more information available for you.
Btw, if you don’t understand what an LFG advertisement is asking it’s best to not join it. Even if the post makes no sense in what they ask for, you should still respect their wishes.
take a look at the dungeon mentor guild if you dont want to go through the process of learning dungeons with pugs
not sure how active it is now but i think there are still people who teach
I’ve always hated coming into older MMOs and having to learn the content because everyone has been doing it for years and has everything memorized.
Eh, tell me about it.
I knowwww I’m gonna sound like the grim, ominous pugdigger, but I don’t know if you can get away with with not “researching” before jumping in pugs.
Firstubble, it’s random – which means you mayyy get people that actually help you but there may also be lots of players joining your lfg without reading; mad dashes, radio silence in chat, lots of chaos and buckets of negative.
Secondbubble, pugs may be a good place to start – despite my opinion on it, but they provide a very limited amount of actually useful info. Again imo.
You could be permanently scarred from the pugroulette experience, go crazy and become a twisted mordrem PHIW, or you could have very good companions and turn out just fine.
Ready to roll the dice?
…. Look, if you get annoyed as I do when you don’t know what the hell is going on and crave communication, just ask around these forums for a mentor.
