Hi all my wife and I have been playing since release, but we haven’t ever done Fractals and have only ever run a couple of Story mode dungeons.

We’re trying to craft the Mawdrey back piece, but it requires Fractal relics (which I guess you have to run Fractals for?) Our gear, builds etc. are probably not “optimal”, but we do okay. Do you guys have any advice on how to find others like us to group with?

I’m trying to be considerate and not slow people down who are interested in “speed-runs” or whatever, but we do need to obtain the relics.

Try to find a group that is open to anyone and starting a fractal lower than level 9 (it gets significantly harder at level 10), and explain your situation to make sure everyone is ok with it. If you have little luck with this, start your own group in the LFG tool for level 1 (since you can not open anything higher yourself I assume) and mention you are first timers/inexperienced.

Maybe you want to make sure everyone understood the advertisement when you have a party. Also, if running with a group of inexperienced people, you might take a while, so make sure you can spend at least 2 hours on this. You will be quicker normally, but better be safe than sorry.

Maybe someone else has some more (or better) tips, good luck and have fun!

Galespark mentions some good points. I would also advise you to take a quick look at http://gw2dungeons.net/ to check out the guides that are available for each fractal. I assume you don’t need to know every single detail for lower level fractals but some basic knowledge could come in handy.

If you think you are a decent player or don’t care about getting carried, I suggest avoiding levels 1-3. Lots of inexperienced guys (to fractals and to the game) are in same situation as you so things may go really bad.

Also, thanks for reminding me about the different Fractal levels. I forgot that probably the speed-runners stick to the higher tiers? I’m guessing if we stick to the lower levels, we should run into players similar to ourselves. I don’t mind taking a while, I just didn’t want to ruin anyone else’s fun.

Also, people don’t give enough credits to “elitist” if you come in with the right intentions they will do whatever they can to help. They spend so much time gathering information and making guides. Of course they will feel offended when someone comes in the dungeon subforum for the first time and call them out for being the bad guys.
