Hey so I just completed encounter 1 wing 3 (Mcleod/Escort) and got no chest. Is there any reason for this occuring or is it a known bug? Anyone know of a way to get this remedied? This was my very first time doing it. Yes I have tried leaving and re-entering the instance. I thought i might be hidden somewhere but I looked up videos and it should be right there where I kill the boss.

If you have autoloot, the chest might disappear after looting it (shouldn’t, but might). Check your inventory to see if you looted it without noticing. If you have a legendary insight, that means you looted the chest.

If you have already done that boss this week, then no chest will appear. I know you said it was your first time, but I figured I’d mention this anyway.

If you leave and re-enter, the chest will not be there. It is only there immediately after finishing the encounter, and once you leave the instance you’re out of luck.

At this point there probably isn’t much you can do beside contacting support. They might be able to give you the legendary insight, although the RNG drops are less likely.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. Paul, I definitely dropped multiple meteor showers on his face. I did get the little side chests on the side screen that jiggled but I didnt get the big boss chest. I dont see it at all. Which is weird because when I go back to Spirit Vale I can see the huge chest where I killed VG. Honestly Im not so upset about the loot as I am the legendary insight. I took a long haitus from the game so I’m trying to catch up on collecting legendary insights in order to prove to groups I am capable. I can usually only get into VG/Seige until I find a training guild so every insight becomes precious. Thanks again for responding everyone. Like I said I took a long haitus so I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing some critical piece of information.

Let’s butt in here: I did get the chest but not the mastery unlock… Got the achievement, got the mastery point, got the reward (some part for the legendary armour), but not the thing I wanted most: the unlock. I did die just before the encounter with McLeod, did that ruin my chance for the unlock? Because if it did, I might as well have left (considering those few blues and greens weren’t worth the trouble anyway).

This is consistent behavior with someone who is killing a boss a second time in a week. Note that the weekly reset is 07:30 UTC (03:30 EST) Monday morning. You must have killed it already that week, even though you didn’t realize it was the same week.

It’s possible this is a bug. I got my unlock forever ago from VG, and they supposedly fixed this a while back for “non-boss” encounters like Siege / Trio, but it may not be working correctly. Paul would have to look at it.

P.S. You get a guaranteed exotic for loot.

I got similar issue. I died when boss had 20%, squad finished him and i left squad after kill because i was feeling terribly ashamed, failed too much:/ then i opened my inventory and didnt found LI. Trouble is, i was dead and autoloot didnt loot the boss chest. Will i be able to loot him next time i kill him this week? Or is there any way to get loot now?

Autoloot does not give you the rewards in the boss chest if you are dead when the boss is killed. In addition, autoloot does not give you the rewards in Xera’s boss chest at all. Whether these functionalities are intended or not is unknown, but it is good information to know.

Also, if you already killed the boss but did not loot the chest, killing the boss again will not give you a boss chest. The only scenario where you can come back and get the chest is if the instance in which you killed the boss is still up (e.g. you kill boss and leave instance, but someone else in your squad is still in the instance and you enter again. If you leave the squad and rejoin I’m not sure what happens).

Yeah unfortunately I know all this from personal experience, I don’t usually play with autoloot and I have missed like 5 boss chests lol. Good luck dude.
