I tried to find a group for a raid for about an hour and nobody will take a theif because they don’t provide anything beneficial in group play. I keep getting told to reroll but I love the theif too much and tbh I don’t feel like leveling and getting ascended gear again.

There are several things thieves can bring to raids, but you do have to build for it.

Venomshare condi-Daredevil is actually quite viable (but perhaps not top tier).

You have solid condi dps and you can contribute massively to breakbar destruction via Basi, distracting daggers and headshot. The mobility also is hugely important for Vale Guardian and Gorseval (on-demand imobo is also nice for Gorseval, but it is a very short duration)

Thieves are not bad in raids. Just maaaaybe not a zerker roaming build.

He won’t play that build much if nobody takes him into group.

Never heard of a theif.

So, you only have one character maxed out to 80? One ‘Theif’?
And you don’t feel like leveling something else and gearing it up?

Well that’s your core problem I’d say. ANet did state that they don’t want casuals to complete raids, like, ever.
And considering you only play your main and nothing else…

Roll chronomancer, they’re pretty popular atm. Or engi and reuse the thief armor.

1. Th_ie_f*
2. Enough other classes will buff, thief do good damage, that’s important
3. Find a guild or friends who play with you. It’s rather not for pugs.

Unfortunately, that’s the sad reality if you’re trying to LFG/PUG raids. The community is doing what it’s always done and trying to take the easy route. By that I mean there’s already a loose idea for an ideal composition against the Guardian that non-organized groups are trying to put together: Thief didn’t make the cut.

In that case you have three options:
-Continue pugging and hope that there’s a group that’s not abiding by that loose composition.
-Continue pugging and roll a character that’s being asked for
-Discontinue pugging and find an organized group that’s willing to work with your class.

I will admit that any class can be viable against the boss fight, and I’d much rather have a player that’s proficient is a “sub-optimal” class vs trying to force said player into an “ideal” class that he has no idea how to play.

What about a bad player in a sub optimal class?

When Puggin you really don’t know how good someone is. However two things you can verify is their gear and build to at least know if they have 2 of the 3 boxes checked.

Class check
Build check
Skill unknown therefore can’t be considered

They should move venom share to another trait line, like deadly arts and make mug base line.

eh, if my main sucked i wouldnt reroll cuz im bad at other classes and dont like them as much even though i have like 14 80s with like 6 or 7 fully ascended geared and a general idea of what to do (and the rest are in mixed asc/exo).

perception is a real issue and it isnt necessarily his fault hes getting overlooked, but it could be. dont be so quick to judge when he hasnt shared his gw2efficiency.
