I am trying to finish my frostfang the old fashioned way, as im too far into making it to craft it the new way- does anyone attempt dungeons anymore? I need symbols of koda to finish my last gift & I’ve checked several hours over the passed week with no bites.

The loot is pretty terrible, even after they semi-recently bumped up the loot.

My personal experience with dungeons post path os thst while rewards were restored, the quality of pugs decreased significantly. Snf for me, the tike vs reward fell alot. PuG dungeon runs arent near the quality they were, I guess because the “good” runners moved to Fotms and Raids, or guilds.

I wish I could spell.. The slaying potions from that dungeon are very, very handy in fractals well for one fractal although still.. 10% dmg reduction and 10% more dmg is always nice, just people would rather pay the coin on the tp than make alittle coin off doing the dungeon it’self. Speaking of which are you Na or Eu?

sPvP and wvw reward tracks exist for every dungeon and give currency.

The 7th, 17th, 27th, and 37th rewards give 60 tokens each for 240 total for the entire track.

Doing all the dailies in either mode will move the track forward by 3 rewards, plus whatever you got while playing.

So if you do the dailies for two straight days in each game mode you’d get 120 of the currency.

My experience with pugging HotW is actually better than any other dung. Of course you will have to kick out some 500 AP newbs who are randomly clicking lfg buttons and have no idea what they’re actually doing. But people who do HotW fullruns usually know their way around and are familiar with their class pretty well. That said, last time I pugged it was like 2-3 months ago, stuff may have changed.

Most dungeons are simply “follow the gears”. If you ever get lost, that’s where you go. Obv don’t show up like a scrub wearing rares, non-meta, no food… and you should be fine. Will you need a stealth escort sometimes if you get stranded? Possibly. Ask your friendly party member after giving a legit try. As for HotW, people mostly just run p1, so you’d prob be better off with PvP track. Also, you could start your own group/lfg…

That dungeon was not famous because of how long the paths took for the least amount of gold in all existing dungeons…

I ran all paths of HotW every day for a few weeks to get the accessory for my druid. I found that it really wasn’t very hard to get groups, but that I had to start it. You need to be the one to create the lfg, as the people you usually get are people who are bored and searching through all the lfg tabs for something to do.

Also, if you are comfortable on your class, you can start the dungeon without a full party. Frequently I would get 1 other person and we would just start while we waited for the rest. Doing this means you only have to spend 5-10 minutes to find one friend in order to play, instead of ~30 minutes trying to find a full group.

I also highly recommend doing some other dungeons as well. The rewards for dungeons are only good if you’re doing the dungeon frequenter achieve (8 unique paths), and so doing that will make your time more worthwhile. You will also get an extra 150 tokens for doing that achieve each time.

Lastly, if you are still having trouble getting tokens you can pvp. Equip the correct reward track and then do pvp matches. I have a group of friends that I do pvp dailies with in a custom arena so that we don’t have to play real pvp. Ranked matches give you much more though.

My exp. with dungeon pugs have not been optimal after the nerf to rewards. So when I dungeon now a days its always with premade group. We often dont run a full group but with 2-4 people its fairly easy and fast when people know what to do.

Open a pug, and hope you get 1-2 that know the class they play (to few out there that do) and you will have an easy time. Or PvP/WvW for tracks

There are some alternatives that make it less painful but takes a bit more time. One thing is to activate the respective tracks if u pvp or wvw so u can get some koda currency. The other is to do the dungeon achievement by doing ac, cm,ta,cof, coe. Finding groups for these dungeons is a lot easier since many people find Honor of the waves as a bit tedious.

Rewards tracks are the only alternative that I know of.
Because of the loot nerf, not many people do dungeons anymore. Imo, it’s only ever worth it if you do the paths quickly and efficiently. Since you’re so close to finishing, I would be happy to help run you through paths and I’ll drag friends along too. We don’t need a full group message me in-game when you can and are ready!

I still do, when Collections force me to, like the Tier 4 of the Ad Infinitum requires 2 dungeon visits

Some guildies and me did some full runs here. It’s a horribly bad designed and boring dungeon. Especially the two underwater bosses. Still, it’s fast (about 10 mins per path) if you have a decent group. Just post in LFG the party will eventually fill up.

Compared to the other paths, at least this dungeon offers a slight variation in content and mechanics.

For me its actually one of my preferred dungeons.

The rewards in dungeons are honestly not particularly worse than pre hot. At least once you factor in turning tokens into ectos.

They are also amazingly fast, even with the lower quality pugs ( which in my recent experience is a lot better than it was a few months ago ) thanks to elite specs.

I do tend to end up playing ps war though. The pugs do seem to have no clue about how boons & buffs work.

Me aswell as many of the oldschool dungeoneers just don’t bother with pugs. We’d rather just duo / trio than messing up with pugs not pathing mobs, pulling stuff they dont have to. (AC p1 pulling gravelings to hodgins for example).

So theres alot of people that activly runs dungeons, we just use the friendlist instead of the LFG.

When you say, “you’ve checked several hours”, do you mean you’ve added your own LFG? My regular krewe does dungeons rarely and stopped doing so well before HoT — we have done them dozens of times previously and they just weren’t that interesting any longer, loot or not. (And we actually still like the loot.)

These days, we are more frequently shy of a full set of 5 and we’ll sometimes post an LFG for +1 or +2. We get someone within seconds, so if you happened to check ‘periodically’, you’ll never see our LFG.

Best thing to do may be ask in map chat honestly. LFG never feels that effective outside of world bosses to me.

Say average dungeon path takes 15-20mins with average pugs, you get very little loot,

Same time in SW chest farm and your looking at what 20+ champ bags + other random loot from them bags.

To make matters worse if someone has already done that dungeon that day they are even less likely to help you as they get even less reward the 2nd time round.

Best thing you can do it get into a guild who wouldn’t mind helping you do the dungeons, or wait for it to show up on dailies which it does occasionally.
