ONLY guard/warrior/ele (dungeons&fractals)
Its not even mandatory in fractals.
Guang snow said it and although he knows nothing he is always right, don’t you know that??
I would like to join a no guardian 5 pugs fractal 40+ with you and see how much it takes.
Why can’t we put in practice our statements for once and see who is right?
As i said many times i will do my part, its not me you’ll have to worry about.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
I actually don’t play fractals that much, I quit around mid-20s and I haven’t even seen the new fractals they added yet. I’m just going by why other people tell me.
I can tell you that Guardian really isn’t great for most dungeons unless you really really really need that 10s reflect and cleave at the same time.
And for dungeons you quit after completing all story modes right? That would explain a lot!
@LordByron
Sure we can do a test, but do you really think it will prove anything? Think about it for a second: you are saying guardians are mandatory. So if I finish a pug fotm 50 without a guardian would I prove you wrong? Now if we base ourselves on time, I agree that guardians make fractal pugs go more smoothly. But this is also the case for dungeons! The only difference is that most pugs are more knowledgeable about dungeons than they are about fractals. However, this does not mean that guardians are mandatory.

The difference is you can stack in dungeon and avoid anything.
In dungeons bosses are also more stupid less damaging and with way less HP.
Fractal could be the base for any dungeon and solve most of the issues.
GL stacking a level 49 mossman with pugs.
Your attempt is just an unnecessary showoff.
I could complete a level 73 TTTMW pug fractal with 20 AR, so i know they can be done.
The difference int convenience is the reason why
99% level 40+ pug fractal runs wait for at least a guardian.
Can you deny this statement?
How many did you see without one?
Guardians doesn t only have reflects.
They have one of the best immobilize, Aegis is a life saver, the passive healing helps players to stay above the oneshot threshold and so on.
I would say that one support guardian makes group DPS more effective than a DPS guardians in most cases (pugs).
I had quite a lot stories about the DPS guardians i meet lately in fractals.

Irrelevant. The original point was that they are not mandatory.
You dont even need them for a smooth and fast run. But they obviously help a lot and increase the chance of smooth runs considerably.

Explain why the LFG 99% wants a guardian then.
99% means almost mandatory to me….
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
prefered =/= mandatory
Want……won t start without a guardian.

Thats due to certain groups preferences. That still doesnt mean the class is mandatory. And it doesnt mean all pugs ask for guardians.
Want……won t start without a guardian.
Simply because they want the QoL a guardian brings. They don’t need him, they want him though because chances are things will go smoother.
Most groups are really ignorant
I’d take a good mesmer over a guardian any time.

Maybe Sandy has just brainwashed you.
So by this logic Ele’s are required for AC yeah?

Pugs have a higher potential to miss something, screw up or use something inefficient or outright bad. But look at these.
Bads will be bad, goods will be good. No matter the environment and class choice. It boils down to learn to play issues and general knowledge about the game and it’s mechanics.

Explain why the LFG 99% wants a guardian then
.
As in every game, there is a continuum of skill among players. The best players are going to be a minority by definition. Why do people ask for guards? Because there are probably group members in the average range skill-wise in most of those groups, and they believe guardians offer a better chance for a smoother run.
In this game there is not only a matter of skills
Simply we have a bad definition of skill.
Most people thinks that being able to solo lupicus is skill (i’d agree for the first doing that).
I met so much people that can solo lupicus and can’t PUG a CoE to know that repeating the same tactic forever with the same people is the most fast, easy and efficient thing.
But being able to adapt is way harder.

well, lots of encounters need at least 1 guard. I usually get happy seeing an ele. That flaming greatsword really helps team dps
