PSA: Client Crash (read the edit)
There hasnt been a patch so why is this suddenly happening now?
No idea… never has happened to me before, but it happened to not only me but both Ambro and Robyn as well.
At first I thought it was just me, till we all lost our instance from it the 4th time it happened.
Did you have issues with any of your other fractal stages? I’m thinking it could be related to the whole server ip issue way back. That particular server would lag out/crash dungeon instances.
Nope everything was smooth up until mai trin… I streamed the whole thing so I could highlight it if desired.
The first client crash was when we were LOSing those mobs before you fight mai + horrik, right when I casted meteor shower.
The other 3 times were during fight with mai. :/
I wish I knew what was the cause of it but at the very least I figured posting it here to warn everyone would be a good idea. Beware. :x
This has nothing to do with fractals or mai trin.
Today we were selling arah p4 and we had 6 crashes in a row.
Later we qued in tpvp and our whole team crashed serveral times during those matches.
I also watched xerrex stream and his team dced 10 times as well.
Yeah I just learned that as well. Nike and his friends are constantly crashing on stream atm, my friend crashing at Tequatl last burn phase, etc.
Wonder what the hell’s causing it.
How’d you find out it was a chat code?
Yep, there are some hilarious 14 year olds that think its hilarious to crash the game for streamers.
I know a lot of people who got crashes as well and none of them is a streamer so I think it’s sth different then

No, we know what it is. Its a chat code that your whisper to someone and it crashes their game. It happened to streamers for troll purposes. It happened to arah sellers for the reasons people used to merge kick. It happens in PvP for obvious reasons. So no, it isn’t something different. It’s the same weapon being used for different motivations.
And how do you explain that in teamq both teams crash at the same time? Further my friend was “offline” and got 3 crashes , though
Not to mention that a lot of people got also crashes doing their general daily runs with guildies 5/5 so I doubt that there was also an evil person who whispered them for no reason.

TeamQ is easy to explain. If there’s a chat code that crashes anyone who sees it (presumably including the sender), someone on either team must have typed it in map chat, thus crashing everyone.
And I think you’re seriously underestimating the no-life trolls of this game and the internet in general.

Genuinely curious, how do you know? If it doesn’t show up in your chat log and there’s no evidence of this other than a client crash, this seems like quite a jump.
(Not saying there isn’t other evidence, just that it hasn’t been shown)
Well, I played teamq with people and against people where you can be pretty sure that they don’t use any kitten like that, just saying ^^

You can read the entire error message. It’s specific that a whisper is causing it.
Secondly, once we set ourselves to Invisible and people couldnt whisper us anymore it stopped happening.

Ah. The screenshot doesn’t show details, hence the confusion.
Interesting.
