Party Comp.
I have always found that diverse parties made up of five different classes seem to offer the best rounded experience in a dungeon. There may be other parties that can do the content faster, but to do the content at a good pace and as designed a diverse party is wonderful.
Usually
3 Warriors
1 Thief
1 Necro
3 Warriors 1 Mesmer 1 Guardian when we can’t be bothered and just want to faceroll.
Right now we run Engineer (moi), Thief, Elementalist, Ranger and a Guardian. However for SM or lower level exp. we switch to adds or get lower level members in. We used to have 2 warriors, but one switched servers and the other switched to his Thief.
Our ‘A Team’ fractals group (only about 18 or so, so far) is:
Control Guardian
Support Elementalist
DPS Thief (me!)
DPS Warrior
DPS Thief/Ranger/Necro/Mesmer (depends on whose online)
Guardian and Elementalist tend to stack our might up to 25 with ease, and we let loose. Quite fun in most fractals (dredge gies us trouble but we also don’t use any of the accepted ‘short cuts’ or tricks), and we stomp all over any SM and EXP regular dungeons. I think our best time in CoF p1 is 9 minutes, which ain’t bad.

What Puandro said. I hardly leave LA in any other setup if I can help it. I’m pretty sure if they took Timewarp away group comp would be 1 guardian 4 warrior only.
Dungeons for us are either: 1 Guardian + 2 warriors + 1 ranger + [fill in the blank, engineer, mesmer, or another warrior usually, depends who’s on] or Mesmer + Guardian + Ranger + 2 Eles
The dungeon I am in most is Fractals. (as guard)
When you are running with a 40+ group, it is almost necessary to have 1 guard in the group and if you have a bad group (say 3 rangers and a nec, not saying these are bad class but for what it is, not the best grouping) you will be gimped as opposed to having more balance.
In my experience any group can work (including the above mentioned) but certain lineups will work with the least amount of trouble often times.
Guard x2
War
Mes
Thief
is an excellent lineup for most dungeons
Fractals
2 Guardians
2 Warriors
1 MesmerDungeons
1 Guardian
3 Warriors
1 Mesmer

If only my guild would run these of their characters. We have enough alts, all of us, that these comps should be possible 100% of the time. Just for whatever reason, we don’t.
(And by we, I include myself in that point.)
Saladtha (Lv 80 salad sidekick to bears) | Dunelle (Lv 80 eviscerating muppet)
Karmell (Lv 80 human might dispenser) | Vast says hi~.
By now we have enough alts for a lot of combinations, except ranger and engineer and my thief only comes in CoF.
And we never take more than 2 guardians.
If you assume everyone pro at their class, any combo works wonderfully. The problem is most people aren’t.
I suppose that for most situations people would do something like this:
2x Mesmer orElem
Guardian
Warrior
Thief/Engi/Necro
Honestly, for most of the stuff I run atm (FotM and Arah mainly.) I’d go with this set if I had my way…
Mesmer – TW DPS/Team Support
Warrior – DPS
Guardian – DPS/Support
Elem – Condition Removal/DPS
Thief – Stealth for easy skipping/Support
But that’s just me…
That being said, any thing works if you all play well!
Does running with the same setup (and same players) not bore you? I mean regular dungeon running is repetitive enough as it is. The only thing that keeps it interesting is the wild assortments you get from PuGs. In some situations an entirely different strategy is needed. As I have yet to play as each class it’s how I learn what the others are capable of doing and how different classes can compliment each other (for instance a regen banner warrior combined with an accordingly traited Mesmer granting them constant protection.)
I mean sure it’s good to run with the same people for really nailing down a strategy (there’s one guy I regularly run with who’s figured out to time his blast finishers when I lay down a fire field, between the two of us we maintain 25 stacks for the whole party.)
But yes there’s my 2 cents worth, the same party composition would be like scraping a cheesegrater against my forehead…
Skye Eterna ~ Mesmer | Arya Slade ~ Charrdian | Kiera Thine ~ Ranger
Oceanic ~ [LOD] [Noob]
pleas just post the type of party makeups and not your two cents.
Since I always run dungeons and fractals with my small group of irl friends, and we all just picked our favorite class to level up for fun, our composition is:
2 Eles
Guardian
Necro
Mes
We’ve figured out how to work together and haven’t hit anything we can’t beat yet (though the dredge fractal came very close) We have fun together, and haven’t felt the need to dictate how anyone plays.
2 Warriors
1 Mesmer
1 Theif
1 Elementalist
path 4 arah

Considering i have a Guard/War and a mesmer that i might get to 80 soon and my guildies have at lest 2 classes we usually swap toons around but keep the same comp while running dungeons. the exception being Fractals since we have our mains there while getting higher levels.
Jade Quarry – Team Savvy – #1 NA WvW Solo Guild
The group we run so far I think is pretty unique and is as follows:
Mesmer Support/DPS (me)
Elementalist Support/DPS
Thief DPS
Ranger DPS
Engineer Support/DPS
Mind you though we are pretty casual and only at Fractals lvl 7 so far.
We run CoE with this team:
2xMesmer dps (me)/tanky dps (other one).
2xGuardian tanky dmg support.
1xNecro power dps.
We can clear all paths quite fast. Alpha usually dies in ~30sec, out of which 20s is Time Warp (last Alpha takes always a bit longer, first one may take 18sec).
In Arah it’s usually:
1xRanger/Mesmer dps (me)
1xElementalist dps
3xRandom guildies, usually atleast 1 Guardian.
Lupi is really simple as the ele usually keeps aggro.
