Seems there is an issue with people just skimming and scanning on lfg and not reading what the post said. So I will make this quick and explained what happened.

Basically, we were looking for experienced players, not to be elitist but to get the job done quick. No exploits, no mob skipping, just knowing where the aoe is, etc etc.

In the post we said, " be experienced or be kicked, you’ve been warned "

We had a warrior who kept dying, giving him the benefit of the doubt we asked if he ran the path before, he said no. He was kicked.

He then whispered each and every single one of us, giving us death threats and insane amount of profanity, claiming he’d have us banned.

We found another person, who then again said they never ran the path, this person was kicked, but unlike the person before us, he didn’t atagonize us, instead he called us griefers / get us banned.

trying asking for people that have run the dungeon before instead of experienced.

I am pretty sure some will say they are experienced, like I am, but don’t know Catacombs, like I do ^^ Thus, just asking for experienced could be misinterpreted.

And for those of you thinking, duh, they stupid if they don’t understand what “I said/thought”, then remember: we are not all english. Some have a lesser understanding of it. So be precise, and maybe you will have… better people joining ?

One might validly interpret ‘experienced’ as being level 80. That is the max level and indicates at least some knowledge of the class.

Try being more specific. Maybe, LF1M who has completed AC path2 and knows fights well

Experienced in what? The dungeon? That specific path? General Pve? Playing their profession?

Even so, a lot of people like to think they’re better than they are (including myself at times, lol).

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

This is a problem. I know you have to get in a party to actually GAIN the experience but inexperienced players will bring the party down, wasting time and money. To all you little beginners: READ THE DUNGEON GUIDE BEFORE ATTENDING.

Inexperienced players are also the reason this game doesn’t have any elite/ genuinely hard content because these players will start whining that it’s too hard. The game should encourage people to polish their skills and master their own classes. That is when you will start gaining feeling of accomplishment when you finish something really hard and get rewarded accordingly.

There also seems to be an issue with people not using the relevant icons for the types of runs they want to do. Then telling you, “your too low of a level to join us”.

Both sides are a bit kitten at times.

A lot of people also overestimate their experience. People in general have a tendency to think they are above average. This game also provides very little feedback to let players accurately measure where they stand.

You need to be more specific about what you want in a “Experienced” player. A player can have a lot of hours into one class and understand that he/she is “Experienced” enough for what he/she is doing but not understand the future perils of the dungeon.

Obviously the ones joining did not understand your purpose.

The purpose of putting “experienced” on any poster’s part is obviously:

“Know exactly what to do in the situations you will face, we want a smooth and efficient run.”

Even if you consider yourself an “experienced” level 80, if you have never done the dungeon before, you do not meet the obvious requirements and you should have the decency to not join. You obviously lack a big chunk of relevant experience for the dungeon, how could you possibly consider yourself “experienced”?

The poster should not have to be more specific, the intent is perfectly clear already.

Sometimes, even though you’re very clear, people STILL have problems reading your ad. Here’s some examples from my experience:

  • I wanted to start a group for CoF story, so that I would have more characters that could host CoF explorable. My ad was posted under CoF story category AND the description said it was CoF story. Four warriors had come and gone to the party asking why there weren’t other warriors in the party and thought it was a p1 farming group…… Now, I don’t have much of a problem with people that want to farm p1, but if every time you see the word CoF, you think p1 farm, then there’s probably something wrong here.
  • My usual ad for CoF p1 and p2 runs say “any profession welcome” in the description because I like to work with what I have. On occasion, I get a person that tries to join my party and attempts to kick a ranger or whatever profession they don’t like. I ask the kickers to leave because, for some reason, “any profession welcome” wasn’t clear enough.
  • My ad usually says “self-join” and includes /join <insert name here> on the description. Yet, sometimes people pm me saying stuff like “I would like to join”. If they had attempted the /join they would know the party is full and would stop asking why I won’t respond to them while I’m trying to do the run.

It’s frustrating, but at the end of the day, it’s the nature of PuG groups with strangers. There’s no standard that everyone follows like that of a well-organized guild. The best we can do handle the situation to the best of our abilities.

If they’re speed running, maybe their desire to skip everything non-essential extends to skipping every part of the post except the CoF?

If you want to run with an elite squad then you should get a group together who always runs dungeons together. Alternatively, you could join / form a dungeon running guild and run exclusively with them.

The minute you open the door to PUGs you should expect that people won’t respect your post. People who have never run before will join. People who are terrible will join. Warriors wearing a Knights breast plate will join.

It’s a nightmare, I know, but that’s the way it works.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

laff sorry but if you cant contextualize that Experienced in gw2lfg means Experienced in dungeons you might want to check your IQ.

Now I’m not the kind of person to say a lot of people are below the average IQ point, so I dont see the point of making up excuses for other people when its a given.

Explanations are not excuses. Your given is not necessarily everyone’s. It’s also possible that some players don’t consider dungeons to be the serious business other players consider them to be. The subject of this thread is people not reading. That is almost certainly occurring. However, there may also be some people who don’t give a kitten.

Even so, a lot of people like to think they’re better than they are (including myself at times, lol).

I have the opposite problem and never join LFG-parties who’re looking for experienced people.

Though I’ve witnessed a lot how all those “experienced dungeon masters” do stupid stuff and die much like meself.

What frustrates me the most in lfg parties is how stupidly sheepish they can be. For example, I’m doing my daily on a low-level alt, then I see a lfg for dungeon I want to join. I join them and get insta-kicked, even before I can type “hi, lemme switch to my main”. I mean wtf, why would I join a run if I didn’t have a lvl 80?! And even if I’d do that, they could ask do I have a lvl 80. C’mon, everyone has a lvl 80 already.

That’s the funny thing about putting up an “experienced only” flag. You’re not necessarily getting more experienced people, but you are getting people arrogant enough to say or think that they are. I wonder if reverse psychology also works here. I could try starting a group that is “hopeless noobs only” and I bet you’d end up getting helpful veterans who wanted to assist noobs.

So it’s not just an issue of reading the ad, I think human psychology has a lot to do with the results you see.

If someone reads “looking for someone experienced” or something similar and can’t connect the dots to mean that the group wants someone experienced in the actual content they’re attempting…that person has bigger problems than not joining a dungeon group in a game.

I have the same problem, when I’m making groups and ask for a specific profession (Let’s say we need a guardian as 5th for Fractal), and some random guy joins as another profession. So we wait around, maybe he’ll change professions. He doesn’t. We ask him if he has a Guardian, he doesn’t. We kick him. We get insulted through whispers.

If you’re not what we’re asking of you, then don’t join our groups.
