I just wanted to know if there’s any information on what percent of players actually do raids. My initial experience was sit LFG for around 2 hours play maybe 15 minutes, and realize 3 people are gone. My current system is wait 20 minutes in LFG, then decide to never play this game again.

This feels a whole lot like designing a whole FPS without adding guns.

Have you tried joining a guild …. ?

Pugging is hit and miss unless you’re doing it at reset.

The LFG is absolutely packed on reset night (monday). By the time you get later into the weekday, you’re much less likely to find a group. Friday nights and Saturdays are also decent.

And as was stated above, a lot of guilds have static groups that raid regularly without looking for pugs.

AFAIK the only information regarding percentage of raiders is “More than the usual number of raiders on other MMO” (rephrased from their answer on an AMA).

As for your experience, well, whenever I pug, I have NEVER ever seen the group take people from the LFG tab. They simply open up a new entry in the LFM tab. And from my experience, on Monday when I want to raid, I simply started my Elder Wood quick logging run (southeast of Malchor’s Leap), and usually found a group in the LFM before all the elder wood has been gathered (granted, it will be harder if I’m looking for a specific boss run like matt).

Some, but not really a lot.

Yes i tried joining guild. ALL guilds no matter what require representing (and usually only are good for raids, nothing else).

As a wvw + pvp + pve + fractal + dungeon + raid player this is hard.

Wvw you can join ts and stil have fun.

PvP soloQ works, except in Ruby+ imo. Diamond+ TeamQ is necessary. While friendlist can work, a pvp guild is the best solution. Lucky (and this should be the example how raid guild function!!!!) most pvp guild don’t require represent.

PvE: Most stuff you can solo. Fractals/Dungeons is ‘pug-able’. Not much issue there. Guild missions requires good amount of activity within guild (not inactivity). For me this guild, the chat must be warm and interesting first and foremost. Hence I am in a huge but (sort of) casual guild atm. Almost never conflicts, we do a lot of of stuff, but raids rarely work (or not all people that want can join), fracts/dungeon rarely done together. Having had to much ‘drama queen/king’ stuff in guilds, i’m not the kind of person to give up a guild that has proven to resist this drama stuff for long time. Representing is required though (understandable imo).

Raids: Guild or go home (imo). I joined guild, not represent (unless within the raid). Worked well, but then some ppl went other games. We got frustrated, we started to quibble. Raids no longer organized, then it slowly died, and i left when only 4 members left. 4 weeks after i tried joining SEVERAL other raid guilds. All of them require represent. All of them… Perma represent or not allowed. This is the biggest culprit imo. While raids are fine high-end content, they (if done well) take very few time in the week of a gw2 veteran that loves all gamemodes. For such low % of the week, raid guilds should not force represent, it’s just wrong.

Result: as long as that ‘culture’ full time represent exists = me no longer doing raids… And i got 11800 hours on the counter lol.

Legendary weapons can be hidden now!
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.

I stopped reading after this, since it’s demonstrably untrue. I don’t belong to any guilds that require representation — it’s the first question I ask. I’m in two that do raiding, one that welcomes new people regularly. I see adverts for raid-training guilds (both EU and UK) all the time.

I get that you’re frustrated. And there’s no doubt that recruiting and looking-for-a-guild are painful (in GW2, as well as many other MMOs). However, I think you should look again, doing something other than what you’ve tried so far (since it hasn’t worked).

It takes like 20minutes to make a pug group, unless I’m online at 7am est. If you need something to do while waiting you can solo dungeons/fractals/random open world things for dailies while you wait.

I start my own groups if I don’t feel like waiting in the lfg.

There’s no information in the OP about when he tries to find a group.

There’s no information in the OP about what he’s posting. Is he specifying a boss/wing? Can he play multiple classes? Does he have experience?

Until then, I’m going to assume the worst:

Looking for experienced group to teach me to raid. Healing guardian. Can’t use voice clients.
