Playing an inferior pve class
Threads like this are the reason I am going to laugh when CoF gets a work over like Ac.
The thief is not a bad class, its just unforgiving and well I wouldn’t be using those skills, I’d drop it to either Signet of Agility or Signet of Malice, and bring Shadowstep, I also kinda stopped using Shadow Refuge for Roll for Initiative.
A CoF rework is just gonna result in everyone moving to SE. >_>
Thief is pretty kitten strong… especially when it’s getting all of the buffs from the warriors. It just can have issues getting those buffs in those numbers by themselves. Necro is another one I would put high up in terms of damage (although that type of necro I very seldom see).
Indeed, people will just farm whatever is the most profitable.
I personally do SE 1/3 daily on 3 toons because I found the JC recipe while farming PVT gear for my guard. It’s very fast and easy… especially if you bring a lot of reflects for P1.

Well, duh. There’s no point comparing any class to warrior’s DPS.
But if your mesmer is doing lower damage than “most other classes in full beserker gear”, it means you’re doing something wrong.
I never compared mesmer dps to other professions dps. Only to warriors. And i said that mesmer dps is not close to beeing high enough. My point wasnt especially showing that mesmer dps is too low, it was that most professions dps is too low in realistic circumstances. Warriors dps isn’t too high, other professions dps is just too low. Fights taking 15 instead of 5 minutes just because of missing warriors isn’t fun.

Then you probably don’t care if the run takes 20 or 12 minutes, regarding arah path 2.

I think Dub meant to say that you can stack warriors (let’s say up to 4) but same thing doesn’t apply to any other proffesion. Hence, it is balancing issue.

I get what he is saying, but that really has to do with one skill, FGJ, and not about the damage coefficients and attack rate of the skills. That one utility skill gets better and better the more warriors you add until you get to 3. Going from 3 warriors to 4 will not increase the team DPS by as much as going from 2 to 3 did. Basically, there are diminishing returns for stacking warriors, it just so happens to be later for warriors than other professions.

I think it has more to do with the fact that warrior is really straightforward proffesion focused on dealing damage than one skill. Warriors don’t have much utility in their weapon skills and utility slots like most other proffesion (or people just don’t use those utilities because they’re too situational or plainly bad).

Warriors 5, even if the last one won’t bring much to the party it can still offer great dps.
Guardians 2-3, one is more than enough simply everywhere. Mesmer 0-1, more than 1 Mesmer is useless. Engineers 0, useless everywhere. Thief 0-2, good for raw dps considering there are 3 warriors to buff them. Necro 0, nowhere useful. Ranger -10, contraproductice all the way. Ele 0, better take one guardian.
As already said, i don’t complain about warriors dealing more damage than mesmer or engineers. I complain about the huge difference between warrior and mesmer dps. Could easily take all damage coeffeicients from mesmer x3 and a warrior would still be better. BUT it would be a viable option without screwing your group up to take another mesmer instead of a warrior.
I don’t think you understood what I said. Let’s say you have two warriors in your group. Adding a third warrior will increase your overall team DPS by n due to more Fury and Might stacks. However, adding a 4th warrior will increase your team dps by n-2 because Fury is 100% uptime already and the good banners are already accounted for, and 3 more Might stacks won’t be as good as what you got from the 3rd warrior. That is what I mean by “DR”.
That said, the ‘n-2’ might still be higher than what you could get by adding another class so it would still be beneficial to take the warrior. However, the more difficult the content (where reflects and temporal curtain matter more) the more likely that a 4th warrior is a suboptimal choice.
So the conclusion of what I am getting at is that past the third warrior you are probably better off taking another class in that spot.

Now let’s talk about how to get the general GW2 population to accept that, because it seems to only be accepted by something like 30-40% of the players.*
*note: just because I accept it as reality doesn’t mean I enjoy it. I can’t wait until rangers are actually good enough to bring to an optimized group without causing a huge group output loss, because I love the playstyle for mine. Until then, she’s parked by a JP chest.

I don’t think anyone really enjoys it. I’d like to play my engi too and still be a #1 dps in the party. But I rolled a warrior instead, since I don’t like to be carried.
It would be nice if people actually understood how class balance works in PvE and stopped bringing tanky engineers and condition rangers to a pug-party.
It’s not even funny anymore, seeing those poor guys struggling to kill mobs without outside help.
Demanding profession balance on forums? Oh yes, do it.
