Currently I see more and more people selling endboss slots for the harder dungeon pathes avaible.
Example, yesterdays I saw someone selling 4x Arah path 4 endboss slots for 15g each. This needs to be changed, people should get no tokens and no advancing to their dungeon master title if they join at the end of a dungeon.

If people are dumb enough to spend 15 gold on a dungeon slot, then they are beyond help.

Free market. While I don’t do this myself I see no problem with others doing so unless they were kicking pugs out of dungeon and selling their spot.

It’s the same as selling drops in Aion or selling run throughs in GW1. Don’t hate on people making money. just because YOU don’t like it, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I for one totally support it!

Don’t try to impose your vision of “proper gameplay” on everyone else.

1) You’d have to be pretty bad or stupid to fall for this.
2) The fact that you don’t agree with it doesn’t make it wrong.

I think those “smugglers” invite you after they killed simin. One guy stays, rest leaves and then he invites people for money finishing last boss. Pretty good money for 70-90 minutes of work (or even less if they skip straight to lupi killing only him, grenth’s and dwayna’s priestesses).

Yes, they invite 4 people right before the last boss, so you only participate like 5min of the whole dungeon run.

Well it makes sense now.
Now if this was to go to all paths that were hard or groups try to avoid imagine:
Arah path 4 – 60g
Cof path 3 – 60g (didn’t think it was remotely hard, but some lack coordination skills)
Cm seraph path – 60g
Wow 180g. Yeah that is fast money _

Let them get on with it. If someone is stupid enough to pay for it, that’s their problem.

Seriously, worry about your own problems. These individuals found something that is not an exploit, they are just selling their knowledge of a dungeon and want to make money off it. They are basically henchmen/heroes for hired. I myself don’t do this but I see no reason for stopping them, they need to make money also in this game.

If Anet sees this as a problem, then they will patch it (most likely by making it impossible to switch character once inside).

As a player who struggles to get things done, I can see the appeal to this. It’s an easy out for X piece of content that could finally be put behind me and I can move on to other things and stay interested in the game.

But! As a player who struggles to get things done, I can also see the PROBLEMS with this. It puts a dent in the experienced playerbase willing to do PUG. After all, say I’m awesome at content X why do a PUG when I could get PAID for it? Why aren’t you paying me? 15g?? 15g isn’t enough. I have stuff to buy! I need 20g. Etc.. etc. And any time there’s gold being slung around, that inflation creep sets in. I look at 15 gold and my eyes nearly pop out of my head. I’ve never seen that much money at one time. But for some players? That’s pocket change. There are players reading this right now who have 150G in their “walking around money” etc etc..

Now that fractals are in place, there seems to be more “Hard” content. Content that you need “dedicated” players on as the difficulty ramps. That’s awesome. Hopefully with that in place, they can do the reverse for dungeons, and figure out a way to do some sort of selectable or sliding-scale difficulty for them. Who knows. Where was I going with this? Oh yea.

TL/DR: I can see both sides of the argument on this.

With fotm patch and people being able to reconnect, groups of people can easily kick out a pug they invited and post n gw2lfg.com selling his spot for 10g for daily. Such people exist. Just wait, you’ll be a victim if you pug.

I think I feel this way. I would never pay for a dungeon slot BUT if someone really wants to then more power to them.

Not mad at all. I enjoy running dungeons and from my point of view to pay for something I get anyways doesn’t make sense to me. I’m indifferent to the entire thing and as I mentioned…. if someone wants to go that route then more power to them

Just pmed one of those guys selling spots. They do whole path 4 except last boss and invite 4 people. They do it in about 2h which is pretty long if you would ask me. My first try there was faster -.-.

Pretty lame, buying achievements for something you can’t do. People are mad because it will devalue dm title (though its value is already pretty low).

@ the OP. If you think this is an exploit, report it and let ANet decide to keep it or patch it out. Given they never patched out mission runs in GW1, I’d say they don’t, though.

In GW1 we often paid for runs to places and other things, sometimes we didnt want to run the pass again for an alt so we would pay so others could run us from point A to point B. Back to gw2 though, i would pay for some Arah runs to save time on Arah gear tokens if I ever wanted armor from it again. I do not want anything else from arah, i spent to many hours already.

Sweet, now I’m going to start doing this free money. If you don’t like it then don’t pay gold to do it. Every MMO is a free market, there is nothing illegal going on and there are plenty of things in every MMO I’ve played where people do hard content or help people with certain things for a “service fee.”

Lol, 15g is not much to me. I got 1200h /played so I got plenty of money. Its just that people dont deserve tokens and achievements if they cant beat a dungeon.

I think actual issue is that most end-bosses are jokes. As long as they are easily doable with brain-dead people this kind of thing will exist.

But CM seraph path ? I rather do that than any path in AC or TA.

I definitely agree with this. In GW1, thieves were payed to “run” people to certain areas (because they were the fastest class in GW1). Not a single person had a problem with this, and obviously not Anet, and people gladly payed thieves to run them to areas. Hell I bet I can go back to GW1 and still find people who will do runs for payment

You think thtas bad, I remember people selling names on servers back in WoWs early days. Even moreso once the paid name changes came into play.

They’d wait for a new server to open, jump on it, take all the “cool” names, then sell them for in-game items 6 months / 1 year later.

If people have the cash, they have the will to spend it on ANYTHING.

That would actually be awesome. I have an entire character with all bag slots filled with tokens I dont need, just sitting there waiting to convert and play the RNG game with the mystic salvage kit.. would love to sell them!

If they aren’t doing any shady business such as kicking people who were there the entire run, then I don’t see any major issue with this. I don’t think they’re violating the ToS. If a person is that desperate or dumb enough to pay for a dungeon slot, then that really is their issue.

People run dungeons for money in GW1, now they do it in GW2. Never heard of anyone getting banned because of this.

Malediktus likes to demand things like “fixing” skipping and stopping people from running dungeons for money but his problem is that no one seems to care. Both things are parts of the game and both are accepted.

I’m pretty sure pugs are in fact being kicked….which if the case all players involved on the selling/kicking side should be PERMA BANNED. Imo this is the major issue here…not that a title is being cheapened.

Note* if done legit 1-4 players not using exploits, kicking, or what have you…I think it’s perfectly fine even though prices r laughable on both ends.

On the other side of the spectrum, some players can’t get groups to do story mode because everyone else has their own agenda. This scenario pops up quite often and spot selling for story mode balances things out. Paid dungeon running greatly helped a lot of people who could not finish their dungeon requirements in GW1. If this is what the spot selling helps out, I support it.

However, if people are being exploited out of a run, then it’s a serious problem. PuG grouping already has enough of its own problems. I really wish everyone valued the company of others when doing group content, but it seems personal agendas can turn one against their peers quite easily.

The dungeon master achievement’s text shouldn’t even mean more than the fact that you personally experienced the dungeons first-hand. Some people probably got carried by some friends and have no idea what happens in every dungeon path. That already cheapens the title, anyways, so the little fancy text above your head shouldn’t matter if it was obtained from spot selling because it’s just about the same cheap way to obtain the title. What should matter is the fact that you personally took the time to understand and complete every dungeon path for yourself. Other people can’t always tell that from your fancy title. I maxed every profession to level 80 and have a good understanding of every profession’s capabilities for every scenario in all the dungeon paths. I don’t get a fancy title for that, but it’s very useful when I teach newer dungeon runners and that’s how they know I’m experienced.

There’s tons of other achievements/titles that can be cheapened, too. People could look up all the solutions to the jumping puzzles, people could look up all the goggle locations, or people could rezone in LA for the cold weathered friend wintersday achievement. The title/achievement itself means nothing to others, but the experience of getting it should matter most to you. You cared enough to get the title and you did it in a way that mattered to you. Sometimes, with titles like dungeon master, you carry some great knowledge with you. People won’t truly know that until you demonstrate — that text by your name is not enough to prove it. Think about level 80 players. Are all level 80 players very experienced at playing their professions? Maybe they found a way to level quickly and avoided learning their profession. Maybe they zerged events and just facerolled their skills, putting no thought into it. It’s not the text next to your name that matters, it’s what you gained from it.

lots of games with raids do this, selling spots/loot drops, just cos you think they don’t deserve it doesnt mean crap if anything it makes you look like a self-righteous tool. thats like saying my friend who just hit level 80 put 4 exotics in the forge got a dusk doesnt deserve it becos theres people out there who put in 100s of exotics and got nothing.

One question: If I don’t invite the guy after I get the gold, I get away with it right? Theoretically, this is a gray market here, and there would be no support from Anet if someone cries to the devs that I was “selling dungeon slots”.

I can’t wait for this scenario to happen and the whole spot selling operation falls apart.

Yes its a “Gentlemen agreement”, they don’t pay taxes so can’t expect help from anet if one doesn’t keep his word. Makes sense tbh.

This problem is not so simple as “people doing money”. There are people that get pugs to do a dungeon, kick them then sell the slot. Already happened to me and I denunced them for kick someone in final boss (not for selling the slot).

And if they use guildmates to do this, then divide the loot it´s nothing wrong for me. It just devalue the explorer title but will happen anytime, there are lots of stupid people with money to buy anything and everything.

And even if anet block this, they will start selling accounts with lots of goodies and titles in ebay, and it will be worst.

There’s only one reason to buy slot for p4. Your excuse is pretty far-fetched. People aren’t stupid for buying it, they just don’t want to try or can’t complete that path.
