Dear Anet, please reconsider where you are going with dungeons.

my group of friends isnt a hardcore group of players, we are rather casual. We like to play the game with the professions we want and we used to like dungeons. First of all we where never good at dungeons. We never made a lot of money due to the huge repaircosts, but in the end we liked them.

Now it is useless: yesterday we tried Twilight arbor upper path, but just couldn’t kill the first spiderboss (cant look up the name, cause wiki is down atm). So eventually we had to give up and we decided to do honour of the waves storymode. At the boss with the turrets in the hallway we had the same problem. Just couldn’t get him down.

Personally I find it totally nonsense to block waypoint travel in combat. Now clearly only people using specifick professions and/or very skilled players can do it. I know people wanted dungeons to be more challenging, but do that as an option then. e.g. double rewards if youdo a hardmode version.

Beside domain of anguish a team of any players (beside a recommendation for a tank and two monks) could finish any dungeon/elite area in the game. Ok it took us 4-5 hours to kill Dhuum but we killed him in the end.

All you did is ruined an essential part of the game for us. We would like to get a legendairy weapon. We dont mind if it takes us two years, but all your doing is making that unreachable.

So thanx a lot for ruining my gaming experience. I will see how long the other aspects of the game can hold my interest, but you pushed an enthousiastic player a good way to the exit and dont return point.

It’s not unreachable, you’re just not good enough to reach it, as you said yourself.

The waypoint block does not change anything except punish the bad for being bad. It does not mean you need to find a specific-class setup (except high level fractals, and Arah path 4, maybe)

The spiderboss of TA requires you to dodge her poison-volley, or simply stay away and range her down. If you want to melee her, you need to know when to dodge. That’s all there is to her.

This is an issue with you, and not the game. They always claimed that the game is casual, but the dungeons would be very very challenging. It shouldn’t come as a surprise.

All I can say really is: Suck it up, try again and you’ll get the hang of it.

Don’t ask anyone to dumb down content that might already be considered too easy.

Half of the dungeons are disappointing in difficulty, and many players had expected more of a challenge.
So try again.

EDIT: This is by no means at all a personal attack. I hope you’ll find the willpower to try again, and in the end, succeed.

Dear ArenaNet, please don’t make THIS a new dungeon standard.

On a serious note – its all good, we all been there at some point. I remember looking at taht spider boss a few months ago and thinking that this game is very-very melee unfriendly, now im meleeing pretty much everything in this game (as a ranger^^) except fire shaman/colossus lvl 30+ (and btw that is possible as well). If you dont mind hit me up in game and i will help you to run TA and set up build for dungeons. Its not that hard, but you definitely need to think your build over. You cannot come with random traits/utilities/gear and just stand there smashing random buttons. It perfectly works in open world pve but it does not and should not work in dungeons which require team work and certain level of situational awareness.

A man of knowledge lives by acting, not by thinking about acting.

I three man all three paths of TA (elementalist, ranger, necro), all level 80, they started in full greens, some rares. The necro is average and the ranger is really casual.

Besides fractals (up to 10) and all story modes, TA is the only explorable dungeon we’ve done, since they wanted the look of the gear. There is nothing overly difficult in TA.

Up path

Malrona: For the spider, either snare it and kite it around or take your best player (reaction time) and make them melee. The spider doesn’t auto attack and only has 2 attacks, a spit and a poison volley and it will always do them in that order. Watch for the spit, the volley is next. It won’t cast until it reaches the target, hence you could kite it around to stop it. When it’s going to cast the volley, it starts glowing yellow. At this point, have the person in melee range simply dodge forward. If the person in melee range had aggro, the spit will only be directed at that person. Your other players are free to carelessly range the boss down.

Fyonna: There’s nothing really difficult about this boss. You can however pull her to the tunnel to ignore the egg sacks.

Nightmare Tree: Stay in the tunnel, kill any turrets if they’re close enough to hit you and ranged the boss down.

Forward/Forward path

Leurent’s Elite Guard: Watch your minimap, wherever the gear icon is, that’s where a portal will teleport you. Just don’t use the first portal to teleport into the first bubble, because it kills me all the time.

Leurent: Now that the 3 adds are no longer Knights, you shouldn’t have any difficulties here. If you can’t take all 3 adds and the boss together, simply pull the boss down the path, the 2 ranged adds won’t reset, but the other 2 will.

Nightmare Tree: Simply dps the boss while kiting the oakhearts. When they put both hands up in the air and hit the ground, wait a second and dodge, to avoid the root. Only one hand up in the air is the knockdown.

Forward/Up path

The Defiler: Simply ranged down the boss and 2 adds. Very simple.

Vivena: Kill the 2 husks and don’t stand in the mesmer AoE. Nothing really difficult.

Nightmare Tree: When the boss shakes, wait a second and dodge or move from your last spot. An AoE will occur and adds will spawn wherever you were standing. Staying in the tunnel and killing all spawned adds will eventually cause the AoE to stop spawning them. When that happens, ranged down the boss.

Intro

Champion Nightmare Vine: To trivialize the first boss, 1 person will be focused with the spits, simply have the person LoS, but keeping aggro on any new vines. No one else will have to deal with the spits.

If you do a dungeon more than 3 times with the same team, it’s not normal that you end up with huge repair costs. That means you never bothered to learn anything and simply randomly used your skills without paying attention to what was happening around you, thus never getting better.

Whatever profession you are, you have skills to make a fight less dangerous, use them if you aren’t used to dungeons. And try to be more observant.
