Not often, but I was in a naked guild dungeon run once. (AC P2, for the curious.)

Minions arent completely terrible aslong as you are using a proper dps build with them. The issue comes when you over use them especially for fights like lupi where they are more of a hindrance than a help. For absolute max dps when fully buffed you would take blood fiend, shadow fiend and flesh golem + Well of suffering and signet of spite. Flesh golem is something i use fairly often because of this. Blood fiend occasionally. Shadow fiend never because im usually better off with BiP, WoC or more utility. If they are going to die early in the fight they arent worth taking either. These are important things to consider when using any minions. You should never focus a pve build completely around them for this reason.

I dont care if your good enought to do it and i dont have time to waste for you to prove it either. People want runs to go smooth and without mistake and running unsafe builds just because they get the boss down faster is the best way to invite disaster.

Running dungeon naked is professionnalism? Peoples actualy rage on other player for using defrent builds then meta wich work with fair efficiency or for having the wrong class (like ranger) but going all or nothing mode on an anti melee boss is given praise.
Well i guess i could indeed cool off because this is about the same situation in everygame anyway but i wish the community would actualy take in consideration the fact that running a dungeon the safe way is actualy just as good when it comes to results if not better. I mean if you can down Lupicus in a reccord time good… if not dont insist maybe you should just get your ranged weapon out.

Lupi is moreso anti-ranged than anti-melee.

In range, you don’t trigger his kick or his uppercut. However, in range, you have to deal with his teleport(Lupine Blast), single target projectile attack (Necrid Bolt), and his bubble (Necrid Trap).

I feel like it’s smarter for people with low experience to range phase 1 (so they don’t get kicked), then melee 2 and 3.

i ran cof with a sword-dagger, greatsword, bear build, super jank. spammed 1 for the 3/4sec dodge or something. went real well, lots of rage from them

Why do people pay for runs? They’d just lose money. Can someone elaborate?

Convenience mostly, since you just have to wait for the slots to fill (which takes around 10 minutes depending on the path). Especially if you play other areas of the game more, like WvW for instance, you wouldn’t have to do the dungeon yourself to get the Arah armour. It also means you wouldn’t have to pug the dungeon, which would generally take a lot longer.

mahariel, recently I have surprisingly good luck in pugs by stating something like “latenight, LF ppl to sleep-run path X with me”. Somehow they are better than “zerker, experienced 80, gear check”. Anyhow, cheers

Some others pinged correctly, and I asked a warrior their off-hand (they pinged a GS and axe) because if I see whirling axe that’s an auto kick for me too. I didn’t bother asking frifox to ping because I find it safe to assume forumers are running meta if they join an LFG like that.

“Experienced” I’ve found is a completely superfluous statement and you just get bads, whereas it seems if you ask for scholar runes, well you have to at least be semi-serious to pick up six ~3g runes.

“Meta builds or kick, Full clear” is nice too, it has a menacing feeling.

Why not the red rose instead? i mean yellow works to but i imaginated it with the red one for a moment. The only time i didnt use pink was on my mesmer making an asian like color style using the full whisper armor set (save for the head i absolutely dont want) in a shade of jade green silkery red and golden yellow to match the dragon jade sword along with a red desert rose. All my asura character and human character wear pinks save for my mesmer and my charr girls all goes in celestial white shining armor or in a mix of black/green (black green is actualy for necromancer)

Edit: nvm the red rose this one works perfectly with the weapon, god if there was a druid class youd actualy make me jelly of this style.

Thanks I chose the yellow flowers because it looks more harmonious with the glow of my sylvari. She’s my best looking character so far.

Fervid Censer is so much nicer than the desert rose. The petals are shaped differently, it’s just elegant.

Also it’s more exclusive. Haha.

I tried making a lady dragonjade style mesmer and it worked realy well problem is i cant post pic right now. Red rose match perfectly with Jade dragon GS youd be surprised.

I am also usually not the one to die first. But I’ve also been playing my class since Headstart, so… yeah. I think it’s safe to say I’m relatively good at what I do at this point.

So using a bad gear combo is fun for you?

Don’t want to bust your party but “not dying first” does not mean you are doing great.

For example, i can go full zerk and go range, pack up escape skills, run at the slightest sign of danger and never ever die. I highly doubt anyone would ever call me a good player.

Going zerk is more exciting since every hit counts. Support comes in the form of your utilities and weapons, so you can dps and support. There is no “all-around” build. Your low condi dmg eats into someone else who is specialized in condi (which is still not good to use anyway).
The additional toughness and vitality won’t make a real difference, even is you fully stack it, some bosses will still 1-shot you. So you have 3 addition stats that doesn’t make much of a difference in a pinch.

I am not flaming you nor am i going to convince you to go zerk. But the build you are describing seems pretty bad. Also it is possible you find zerk boring because you are downed or dead for stretches of time?

And playing since headstart is no way of telling how good you are, i know some ppl who had been bearbows since headstart and still defending it.
