Prof specific dungeon groups
Your fix would need well thought out proposals for new scales, long testing times, and large amounts of internal testing. It will not end well.
Also, I note that CoF path 1 farm is usually composed so as to achieve maximum speed. There are plenty of other CoF groups around to join, unless of course, you intend to farm the path as well.
4 warrior + 1 mesmer groups are spamming CoF path 1?
Brb: nerfing mesmers.
Saladtha (Lv 80 salad sidekick to bears) | Dunelle (Lv 80 eviscerating muppet)
Karmell (Lv 80 human might dispenser) | Vast says hi~.
I admit I have seen an increasing trend as the OP suggests.
I can also state that I have pugged fotm all the way to where I am now (level 54) and have honestly never looked at/selected people based on profession when forming my pug groups.
In fact, I did a level 46 fotm (daily) two days ago with 4 other elementalists (making 5 elementalist total including myaelf).
I admit that certain profession combinations do make things easier though.
In sum, while I don’t think there are vast differences strong enough to bar any group compilation from progressing, I do think the public opinion is quickly trending in that direction… I just don’t know what we can do to stop it.
I have been in all manner of pug’s and sometimes I look at the classes in the group and think that we are going to have a hard time. 80% of the time I am wrong and the group runs just fine. I did path 1/2 of cof with 3 thief’s and 2 guardians ( I was one of the guardians) we ran it really well as everybody knew how to play their class and if was actually one of the faster runs I have done.
You can min/max a bit with getting ideal group dynamics but in general the elitist attitude is just something that people like to do to feel special.
The solution is pretty simple. Class balance.
Why do people want 4 warrior + 1 mesmer for CoF? Because warriors do the most damage in PvE at the moment. Why do people prefer “heavies”? Because this game has no Trinity therefore classes that wear heavy armor are already at an advantage before even factoring in their usefulness and when you do that, it just solidifies their spot as the kings of PvE because the 2 classes who wear heavy armor are also 2 of the best classes to bring to a dungeon at the moment.

I was trying to be constructive. Any solution is welcomed. If they want to do away with the “trifecta”, then all classes should be equal. If not then they failed. I think that is a good enough reason to warrant the effort you brought up.
OF course i intend to “farm” (although i didn’t say only path 1). Why else am i doing any dungeon more than once? I can do as much damage as most warriors/thieves and survive better but the idea that im being singled out because i have a different profession… i rather quit. I dont have problems finding groups. I just dont like the implications and generalizing behavior.
Anyways the reason im raising this issue is because i feel that this is bad for the game on many levels in the long run. Its bad enough that some dungeons are so much shorter and easier thus used as gold runs. I dont blame the players for doing the naturally efficient thing. Feel free to discuss with that in mind.

Mostly it’s not about people being worried about not being able to finish a dungeon with certain classes present, but more wanting a quick faceroll. Some seem to believe that this is only possible with a certain setup.
People are lazy, and thus will migrate towards the current fotm. I’ve completed plenty of dungeon paths with a wide variety of professions, and the difference in run times wasn’t really dependent on class, but on player skill. Sure, a few classes are easier to play than others, but ultimately I say run with guildies/friends for the best runs.
