I was wondering what classes were optimal for what dungeon. I’m not talking about listing the 4 big meta picks that are all around extremely effective in all dungeons. I don’t run a ton of dungeons outside of AC, TA and CoF P1/2, everyday so I’m doing this to learn which of my 80s are most effective for what dungeon. For example, in my experience.

Warrior, Zerker PSEA Build.
Preferred Dungeons – All.
Warriors work in virtually every dungeon, desired for their banners and Might-stacking. Works in virtually every dungeon running party.

Guardian, Zerker.
Preferred Dungeons – Anything involving heavy conditions, or containing many projectile firing enemies. AC, TA.
Invaluable asset to AC, and TA because of their condition removals from Absolute Resolution, Purging Flames, and Symbol of Wrath + Whirling Wrath and Wall of Reflection for a reliable reflect.

Elementalist, Zerker/Cele – Stave
Preferred Dungeons – All.
Extreme levels of utility through high damage, heals, condition removals, and conjured weaponry, if not on par with a PSEA warrior, the Stave ele is extremely versatile and desired in all compositions as well.

If I could get some intelligent insight on what classes are optimal for what dungeons, why, and how, I’d be extremely grateful. I currently have a Warrior, Guardian, Ele, and Thief at 80, and effectively geared, I just don’t know when to play what, where.

Guardian
It’s ok in AC, but not invaluable. Guardian is my main and I never bring him into AC.
SE and Arah are problably the best place for a Guardian. The guardian is difficult to replace with another profession there and really change how you gonna run it with or without one. TA, CM and HotW are easier with a guardian. You can replace it by thief and mesmer, but a guardian will do the job better there. A guardian can make your life easier in AC and CoE, but other profession will bring more there. CoF, there isn’t much reason to bring a guardian here except maybe for path 3.

Thief
Thief are great for Arah, CM and TA because of all the skip possible with stealth. They can also help in CoE and AC. For the remaining dungoen they are still a decent choice, but not as valuable as for the 5 dungeons I already mentioned.

Guardian is good for CoE imo because stability offsets the crystal bug from Alpha as well as reflects for golem and double sanctuary for Bjarl/Tree dude.

Thief is great in CoF3 and SE for skips, you can shave some time with thief but it’s one of those 5th slot I’ll bring thief rather than I must have a thief.

Pretty much all dungeons is like Warrior, Ele, Ele, X, Y. Where X and Y are usually Guardian or Thieves, with the occasional Ranger, Engineer or Mesmer. I’m speaking from a casual dungeon tour perspective, if you are speed clearing then you probably need specific comps for specific dungeons.

ps. Bring hallowed ground for guardian, it’s such a great skill.

I prefer a Mesmer for Golem and Icebow or Rocks for Bjarl.

Thief is invaluable for defiance management in all paths of HotW.
Guardian gives aegis for uninterrupted burn. It’s also great in HotW.
For the golem in CoE, just let Spire take the projectile shot. A staff ele can cleave down both protection and retal turrets just fine.

I’ve seen a good ranger can sub for warrior in low level dungeons and run time is hardly different. Plus ranger is a better ice bow user too.

Thief is like Night sigil, if you are lazy and just want to carry around one weapon set(aka 1 team comp), night(thief) being the best fit for 5/8dungeons is good enough a reason to be meta for casual runs.
