Guild Wars 2

I and a small group have recently returned to the game after some time away and we have started doing fractals for the first time. We get a few done in a run (don’t know positively exactly how many) but we never see our personal or fractal level rise. This has been happening the last 2 weekends (when we are able to spend enough time to do them).

I have looked online several places and there is some conflicting information depending on where you read and how much is left to interpretation due to lack of clarity, so I am asking if someone can clarify for me (and by extension our group) what is required.

Do we have to complete 3 or 4? Do they have to be in a row without going back to Dessa’s Krew/Lab to repair or sell, or can we go back there (Dessa’s Krew/Lab) since we aren’t leaving completely to Lions Arch. Our Fractals frequenter achievement goes up but we haven’t seen the personal level or fractal level raise above 1. I know for a fact we have completed(some may have more but I don’t remember which has been done more times if it is):

(sorry don’t know all the technical names)
Swampland 1x
Flame Legion/Courtyard 2x
Svanir / Ice Elemental 1x
Asura Jumping/Raving Asura/Golem 3x
The one with the electric rotating walls, aetherblades, and Ellen Kiel 1x
(we got the dredge/Legendary Ice Elemental one once and honestly gave up and quit out on that because we got to the last boss, hadn’t seen any improvement in our level and he kept healing from half to full and all of us got very frustrated.)

Aside from just completing more in a row, is there some step we are missing, and if we have to complete more in a row, how many is it to see any movement in the level?

I am unsure to have understood you properly…you actually leave after completing one fractal? Because to complete 1 level you have to run the 3+1 fractals…basically, all the maps that will spawn until you are teleported back outside…
Every level you complete (that is higher than your current level) will allow you to advance…

You have to complete 4 fractals in a row without going back to Dessa’s Lab to advance your personal level.

short version….

you and 4 of your friends enter in to the lab. you head to the big glass circle in the middle and head into the “shard” Level 1

round one, “short” something like swamp, or aquatic ruins.
round 2, “medium” something like Uncategorized or maybe Cliffside.
Round 3 “long” Cliffside shows up here as well as dredge.
round 4, the “boss” fractal " Mai Trin", " Jade Maw" or the “molten Duo”

after the completion of the 4 “shards” you will be ported back to Diessas Lab. and you have completed the “fractal” your personal reward level should have gone up to level 2, and you should have gotten a daily chest at the end of the boss shard that contains various stuff, including a pristine relic if it is your first run for the day.

When you go back, you will be allowed to open level 2, and the process repeats itself. and when you are done you should be at level 3. If you join up with a group that is say doing a level 9 and you are only at level 4. when you are done you will be up to 5 as you have “advanced” in reward level. If You go backwards and you are at level 5 and do a level 2 to help a friend out. you will still get the reward for the level (if you have not gotten it already for the day and or tier) but you will NOT have advanced in personal reward level.

Once you have made it to Level 10, you will start getting ascended rings as drops in the daily chest. and Agony will be introduced.

Just to clarify 1 poin in last post. You won’t get pristine relikittenil your personal reward level is 10 or more, and you also just completed a fractal level 10 or higher

you will get pristine in all levels now regardless of personal reward level. Well one per day per tier.

and thankfully they also allowed you to change pristine to regular relics… now if we could do something with those excess rings.

I’m sorry, I thought I was more clear in my description, no we did not quit after 1 fractal, I know for certain we did at least 3 yesterday, but not sure if we completed the 4th and were on the 5th or if we quit during the fourth. They kind of run in together some since we have been trying so many times to get the level up.

You answered my questions though, and Ropechef thanks for clarifying all the steps. I appreciate it. It makes much more sense now. We thought maybe it was bugging out because we thought we only had to complete 3 and that was frustrating us.
