Hey, I’ve got some questions on the topic mentioned above. I would be very delighted if someone experienced could answer them.

Why are people so eager to get condi engis?

How does condi ranger compete in the different raid encounters (solely from DPS perspective) in comparison to other DPS classes?

If you factor the buffs from Druid in, does it justify the loss of DPS if you put him on a DPS spot (Fractal or Raid)

Condi druid or ranger. What is better in Fractals?

I never really played condi ranger in raids, but in dungeons/fractals its about the same dps as condi engi, and about 10% higher if you take the bleed trait instead of spotter

Condition ranger is not as high as engineer…. not even. A poorly played engineer sure but engineer is well above condition ranger.
Condition druid does plenty more damage than normal ranger so it’s worth taking over that when all you really want is the modifiers.
Condition engineer can pull 24,000 or so dps when played correctly fully buffed.
Condition ranger on the Spotter setup pulls ~15,000 dps. With Hidden barbs it probably could hit around 18,000 depending on alacrity but you’re never going to run that trait since it’s a decent team dps loss to lose all the precision on everyone.

Condi druid is better. It doesn’t have the dps of an engi, but it does have spotter, frost spirit, glyph of empowerment, and grave of the land.

So it brings a heck of a lot more with it than an engi does.

Bristleback can’t hit anything? Let’s fix the HP bug instead.

The Op was asking about dps and I answered with regards to dps. I didn’t say at any point that engineer was better at buffing than a druid.

Engineers are your best choice at VG. High condition damage, knock back, heal bomb, lots of CC, ranged damage, etc. Would be the only encounter where you see people specifically ask for engineers, though.
You can compare a condition druid to a PS warrior. The damage does not equal any of the top damage dealers (probably not even the average damage dealers). Still, the unique party buffs make up for that easily.

People want to have at least one of them in every raid and never more than two all together.

Ignoring the fact that my comment was not directed at you, you can’t separate the druid from the buffs. Nobody is taking a PS warrior for their smoking DPS, and nobody is taking a druid for that either. Engineer on the other hand offers nothing but DPS.

The party buffs are huge, and benefit the entire team signifcantly. I would rather have a condi druid than an engi pretty much anywhere. The only place an engi would really be more useful is for running circles at VG and breaking bars.

To answer OP question

1) Less and less people are ‘’ so eager to get condi engis’‘. It used to be one of the top dps profession pre-hot and that’s why it was so popular. With HoT and viper the hype was even higher for that profession. At that point, engineer and tempest were the best dps of the game (Guardian had higher dps than engineer but it wasn’t tested and people assume the Guardian dps was bad). Add the fact that condition was needed for VB and that high end fractal toughness scaling push people toward condi build and you see why Engineer was so popular. But since then, Condi Warrior became the best dps, then were nerf, Guardian was tested properly with full buff and is view as the 3rd best dps, thief and Reaper were buffed. So right now, the engineer is not a top dps anymore and fall more on the 4-5th place, while still having one of the hardest rotation to master.

2) Solely on the dps side, condi ranger or condi druid ain’t really worth it. I think that only Mesmer does less dps than them (I’m not totally sure where Warrior stand now).

3) In raid Druid bring so much buff and make excellent healer and condi druids have higher dps than direct damage druids. So a condi Druids that bring buffs and heals is a really good addition to a raid. That said you have several choice to make. First is does you team need a lot of heals or not. The higher the quality of your team, the less heals they will need. If you have a medium skilled team you might want more healing capability than a Condi Druid can provide. In that case you might want two of them (to keep buffs on everyone and have more Celestial form uptime) or change to a more heals oriented Druids. In the latter case, you would be using Staff which isn’t a condi weapon at all, removing the usefulness of a condi build.

4) Condi Druid for sure.
