Hello fellow raiders,

I’m doing a little survey about the difficulty of forming groups for raiding : whether it is pug group or guild group.

1. Do you find it difficult to form raid groups?
2. If yes, would you call forming a good group the biggest challenge in raids?
3. Would you have any suggestion that can be implemented by Anet to improve group forming whether you find it difficult or not?

Thank you for your answers!

1. No, not at all.
2. –
3. No, not needed. The lfg system in combination with the kicking function works perfectly for me.
Sometimes a (pug) group is filling fast, sometimes not because there are too few players available (for example at midnight or monday’s reset with search for a chronotank). Nothing that can be improved by any implementation.

Took me 3 runs of the dungeon to get the bug.

1-No
2- n/a
3- The LFG is fine its the community that is tough. Having to have all builds ready to go if you want to raid kinda blows, but I get it.
Would just like to see folks loosen up a bit on the whole “gotta be meta or else” mentality. Other than that, they are doing fine.

1. I cant say: i join, i never create
2. N/A
3. Yes, it’s stupidly easy: i’m the perfect exemple of casual raiders who are interested in experiencing raids / dungeons, but who will never hit the button create. If i were anet, i would just add a mean for players to indicate that they are in the mood for a raid, as soon as 9 or 14 others did the same, anet pack us and teleport our group in the raid instance. It eliminates that step that block the majority of players for whatever reason. If someone leave before or during the raid, anet propell back immediately into our group the first player that have the flag: “i want to raid but i am too s h y (s h y is not a kitten, anet) to create a group or lfg” if he hasnt left a raid in the last 60 seconds.

Now for what i think of the OP:
- In your title: Raid – Group forming difficulty, the word “good” does not appear
- In 1. Do you find it difficult to form raid groups? the word “good” does not appear
- In 2. If yes, would you call forming a good group the biggest challenge in raids?, the word “good” suddenly appear

If i didnt know better i would say it’s on purpose. I say that as a tribute to players who dont say anything but still think nonetheless: adults recognize potential toxic issues immediatly. We are no more in college

I don’t find it difficult to do. Did it last night for Sab with full pubs and killed it in 4 pulls. The hardest part of it, IMO, is finding a caller haha. I just never feel like doing it in pubs.

1. In off hours and not using lfg, yes! During prime time and from friend list only, no. If I spend more than 30 mins making a group it’s probably going no where.
2. No, micromanaging one’s own group is the biggest challenge. First, one needs to understand the capability of his member in their respective role and decides on a suitable group synergy on that. Secondly, one creates a comfortable grouping experience by allowing their members to comfortably play their desired classes but at the same time ensures that the general performance is not dropping; deciding when and where carrying is needed and appropriate. To illustrate this point, when I’m not with my static group, there are only a handful people whom I trust completely in their ability and will assign them in a key role: Tank, solo healer, CC, main glass cannon, main mechanics runner and 100% boon chrono. The other members will have relatively easier job. For example, we pugged 3-4 spots at Gorseval with one is still new at druid and 2 members wanted to play daredevil and the other condi reaper. So I reorganized the group to 4-4-2, have only one ele on tactical orb clearing (read: not full clearing / just sectional), have one more experienced druid to hold the group together during the break bar phase while the new druid is learning the rope, instruct the reaper how to optimize damage and use epidemic for cleaving, etc. We killed the boss after a couple of pulls with people who actually listened and followed the lead. DPS was so good that spawning orbs is a non-issue.

3. Anet can’t do anything to improve the player’s behavior and mindset. It’s on us to improve our positive experience. I hate pugging so much and it’s not because people are inexperienced and make mistakes. I don’t mind spending hours helping people fix things. Pug has vastly different experience yet most seem narrow minded and unwilling to follow the lead. Take that gorseval run for example. I spent more time and effort to get pug to stay and try things than the actual fight itself. People came in, saw the two DD and reaper, asked them to swap to tempests (??!), lectured the group about how tempest DPS is uncontested supreme and then… left. It’s not just rude and jokes on them for they missed out the kill. Or those PS-in-shadow who joined, got the kill and quietly left without ever saying a word.

My only suggestion is to improve sorting features for my friend list. Currently Ihave to manually change people’s nicknames to provide me a hint of their in game relation to me. I wish we could have more categories in our friend list and broadcast/multi-PM features for easier Looking for Men.

1. No
2. -
3. Better community forming tools, the forums and reddit are inept for in-game usage. A Guild Initiative Office that let you search Guild Names/History etc…, their preferred mode(s) of play. relative timezones would go a long way.
A revamped LFG that allowed for a more comprehensive ability to list instead of long winded typing. Ex. being able to select role, and class(es) you’re capable of playing before listing.
