Raid problem
Try the escort (first boss in wing 3). Its very easy and there are even groups with no requirements that just want to unlock the mastery.
Things you should know there:
- Glenna must survive! If she dies your raid wipes instantly.
- If you leave Glenna alone she will die after a certain time.
- Wargs one or twoshot Glenna, so kill them before they reach her.
- Those canon aoes are deadly, capture the bloodstone canons to stop them.
- Try to let one enemy alive at the canon. Preferably a klerik as he can heal himself and does nearly no damage. If you kill all a whole new group of those mobs will spawn.
- At least 4 people should have ley-line gliding (canons can be reached by them). 1 Mesmer with ley line gliding could maybe port others up every tower but never tried it.
- Avoid the mines on the ground as they are able to oneshot Glenna and every player that touches them. They have 2 aoe circles around them. The bigger one will uncover the mine and you can attack it afterwards. The smaller one will kill you.
- Mines can respwan so watch out!
- The white mantle has plenty of CCs including knockbacks, fear and pulls. Be carfull to not get feared/koncked/pulled into a mine.
- Mc Loyd can port up to the last canon if there are still players up there. Make sure to fight with everyone at the ground.
- Mc Loyd has a splitphase that divides your raid in two groups: a red one and a white one. Attack the Mc Loyd that matches your colour.
- At every phasing Mc Loyd spawns a warg at the gate, be carefull.
- Glenna and one plyer should stay out of the bossfight as the boss can kill Glenna quickly.
I hope this can help you a bit.

ty for tip. but still lots of players leave or i get kick with no reason. if any one have guild or squad add me in-game Alcandross
hello i am trying to finish raid run to unlock masterys.
players kick you with no reason
players leaving in half run
what is the problem troubles you all ?
lets talk about it saw we.
i am trying to finish raid 1 month and still trying
Players propably dont kick you for no reason. When you’re making novice mistakes, you won’t know you’re making them but veterans will notice.
Lets go over your position:
Are you a Dps? If so, you do supply enough fury and might, domyou actively deal damage, and do you use to the sugegsted meta? Now, meta isnt necessarily the best, but its a meta for a reason.
Are you a condi? If so, do you use the right skills and traits. Especially as a condi traits are impeative because they control more than half of what you really do.
Are you the tank? Do you know where to move the boss, do you know when to do what when a boss phases, or moves around
Are you a healer? If so, are people constantly downing, is the tank annoyed because he has to look after this own health more than is he is meant to, reducing his tankability.
I urge you to read some guides so you wont make novice mistakes and use optimalized builds. After that, its practice. Also, people leave when they notice that a boss doesnt reach certain thresholds. For example, if the VG hasnt split by 2:30 theres not much point in continuing unless you have a good healer for the bosses’ rampage.
Now, meta isnt necessarily the best, but its a meta for a reason.
Meta is best by definition.

I think what’s Amaimon is going for here is that “are you picking the best build/skills for the job” vs just blindly picking up a meta build from a site and assuming that will get you through 100% of the content.

A build that isnt best at some point isnt Meta. Idk people use this word without understanding the word itself

I think the underlying point is that a good playing using a non-meta build they know how to play will be more useful than a bad player using a meta build they don’t know how to play.
i just a need good squad to finish 1 time the raid run to unlock masterys its so simple if any one can want a necro reaper i have good stats

By definition, meta is the best of the best on paper until something throws it off its throne. We know all know what that means. But in the case of newer players someone may have a non-meta build that they are otherwise more efficient with upfront vs trying to force-feed them meta build that they are clueless about (damage and contribution wise) .
To tie this back into the OP, newer players you’ll want to have them play a build that’s a middle ground between what they’re comfortable with and what’s going to be the most efficient (meta). I’d much rather have the majority of a new player’s attention on the encounter’s mechanics until it becomes second nature and then take them afterwards to beat up a golem so they learn how to better contribute to the team.

Need a few people or just one Mesmer with the raid mastery to make it through the cave.

One thing i cant really understand is for example, someone say he play very well necro, but cant play meta, because with meta he will play poorly. What the difference between his build and the meta besides stats? I mean no matter what build you play you will have the same skills for weapons. So the only thing that means that he have a lot of Healing power/ Toughness/Vit on his build if meta make he play poorly.
Part of the point of meta, and running glassy builds, is because you have the dedicated healer and everyone else should be maxing their dps. Running traits that serve no purpose, or utilities, or anything that is basically useless in terms of what happens in a raid is what is wrong about running with “what you already do”. Many skills and traits are only going to be useful in a pvp or WvW sense, or running in a massive blob or solo. The biggest part of raiding is being adaptable to the situation.
However, I did tell my WvW guild that, as long as they have ley line gliding, have someone with stealth or the water mastery, and use the right traits and utility skills, gear does not matter for escort.
And, to the op, create your own squad and no one can kick you ;p (you do not need a commander tag to create a raid squad but if someone claims lead, then they can now kick at will).

No, it’s what’s believed to be the best.
I’d much rather have the majority of a new player’s attention on the encounter’s mechanics until it becomes second nature and then take them afterwards to beat up a golem so they learn how to better contribute to the team.
However a majority of the time the players can’t get to the later phases because they aren’t running DPS builds, therefore hit enrage, therefore die faster, therefore does not see the final phase to practise to actually kill the boss.
I see the exact same reason to not use proper food during training runs “Too Expensive and not needed”.
Well VG needs to get to 33% before you see all phases, having 2 Section lit rather then 1 is a lot more hectic. For quick CC as well as the Tank.
Gorsavel needs to get to 33% before you see the traps
Sabatha needs to get to like 20% before you get the falling rubble
On Trio you really need to kill Zane quickly because Zane + Nurella is just a cluterkitten and a half and Nurella is bad enough on her own
On Mathius you need to get him to 40% before you see all phases.
KC you need to under 33% to experience his last CC phase
Xera you need to get to like 20% to experience Both tower ports
So not using Meta builds “To learn mechanics” doesn’t really hold water unless you can carry those that do not know otherwise you will not experience the last phases to actually kill the boss. And other the Ele most rotations are really easy.
Theif – Dodge if Endurance is full and Auto. I know its not Highest DPS but its good enough
Guard – Hammer Auto, drop PoB, Hammer 2 or SoJ AFTER last auto hit, ToF off CD
Necro – You can get away with auto attacking and using scept 2/3 off CD and Dagger 4 if need condi transfer. Rise of CD and other then Epi (which doesn’t take more then 10 secs to understand what your suppose to be doing) its brainless.
I tell you what I tell every other group that tries to kill bosses with improper set-ups and constantly fails to get even to the last phase.
Improper training is as good as no training at all.

We tried 6 months of training before my husband and me decided to pug our way two days per week raids with average casual players 3 to 5 hours per raid day .. Wipe after wipe.. now pug life ftw… We get to clear all bosses every week since w3 came out.
You hv only tried 1 month? Don’t give up. It gets better.

A good Player who understands his profession will be able to play a meta build in perfection. Otherwise he is not a good player.
i just a need good squad to finish 1 time the raid run to unlock mastery’s its so simple if any one can want a necro reaper i have good stats
That’s your big problem my friend, exp raiders don’t like to carry a leech-er that only wants to unlock the mastery, and don’t even look up a guide a bring a useful build.
But there are groups on LFG with the same goal as you, and as long people have brain and leyline mastery for the escort should be fine, but I think half the group needs to be a bit exp.
Another really BIG problem is you are trying it on Necro/Reaper, this is probability why they kick you, Necro/Reaper have an Important role at different fights, and the Necro Metabuild and necro gameplay and utility for the group is a very popular thing in raids, so unexp necros will cripple the group a lot and people will easily notice if a necro is new to raid.
You should try with another class more simple and safe maybe PSwar.
Also try asking in your guild, a lot of casual guilds have been able to finish escort and unlocked the mastery, even guilds that have no interest in raids.

Almost everyone criticizing the OP is basically telling him the same thing:
“You’re playing the game wrong.”
When GW2 first came out, many people came here because they were tired of hearing that – and definitely tired of games and developers that supported that kind of attitude.
It’s a game. Tell people “you’re playing it wrong” too many times and I don’t think they will keep playing – especially when you have taken the exact opposite approach for years. It’s time someone at Anet started remembering that again.

The OP joined a group. The group was led by a commander. The commander gave a command for everyone to stack on the boss. The OP ignored the command and did their own thing by stacking on the NPC. Raids require coordination and one person can easily cause a wipe depending on the encounter.
Players are free to play how they want. If they have a certain playstyle then they should create their own group rather than force it in others who took the initiative to create their own groups. It’s a bit hypothetical to chastise how one group of players cannot play how they want by making it so that another another group cannot play how they want.

Thats not the point in endgame, or rather, top tier content. This is meant to be the hardest content requiring the most preperation. Having the right gear and builds is part of that preperation. Intentionally not going with that’s suggested is the same as going on a trip to sahara, ignoring everyone’s suggestion of brining enough water.
You know beforehand that raids require ample preparation, and then intentionally not do that. If you don’t want to do something that requires that level of awareness, there’s always fractals T1 through 4 which are alot more forgiving in freestyle
