Raid without TS?
nerf thief, nerf it all
I pug Xera relatively frequently, have killed her quite few times w/o TS. So no, TS is not needed if people know what they are doing. I think only boss that somehow would requite TS is Sab since most ppl don’t pay attention to bombs, rest can be done w/o comms.
I highly doubt there is organized group that doesn’t use TS though. You probably would have better luck with pugs since those usually dont use vc.
[Teef] guild :>
There are groups who raid without ts. However those are exp groups. I´ve never seen training groups or something alike without ts.
If you are exp I probably wouldn’t kick you because you can’t use ts. You provided a valid reason to not join. However, since you only know VG i wouldn’t take you with my group. Simply because I would have to write down every mechanic, every mistake so you can improve. That’s something im not willing to put my effort and time into.
There might be groups who will take you. I´d ask in the guild recruitment section and maybe reddit.

Well, sort of.
There are groups that wont require TS or Discord. I just found those groups to be exp.
Heck, if i wouldnt be such a lazy little kitten i´d take you with my group.
Voice comms make things easier and smoother, ive seen silent runs in the lfg though. Best bet is to keep checking the lfg and recruitment sections. If you cant find anything then there is still 95% of the game you could play without voice chat.
no TS no problem. Use Discord
no voice at all howver is a bad idea

You might not have read the thread correctly I asked what if someone is deaf etc.
which means they can’t HEAR. So it doesn’t make sense to use discord, right? :P
And I think that other people with disabilities like that DO want to raid but no one wants them in the group since they can’t use any voicechat programm.
And I don’t think it’s a bad idea since you are more focused and need to take care of your mistakes. Also it wouldn’t be a bad idea to give hearing impaired people or people with other disabilites (mutism, ASD etc) a chance to raid.

It’s definitely possible to kill raid bosses without voicechat program in pugs. I by myself have killed VG, Gorse, Escort, Trio and almost Sloth without it but it has to be mentioned that it is harder to be successful in pugs, so I would recommend a joining a raiding guild.
Additionally, you maybe should focus on playing ps warrior or tempest without a special task like sabetha bombs. Ps warrior probably is the easiest class to play in raids if you don’t have anything extra to do.
Of course you will have a harder time to get well in a group because you have to be way aware of the encounters than everyone else that can be guided via voice from time to time.
But yes, overall it’s possible, not easy but possible.
I am deaf.
here is how i got the majority of my boss kills.
Searched LFG for groups doing runs. that have requirements that I know I can meet.
Joined said groups.
after intial introduction if there was a voice chat listed i would contact the comander of the group via whisper and inform them of hearing situation.
"" I am Deaf so voice is tricky at best for me. I do know the fight and my role. if it becomes and issue i will gladly step out. ""
At this point it is all on you. You need to preform to an expectation that is greater than the average PuG. And be willing to Stand down or move on without question should the group feel it is not working.
I, personally, would even go as far as messaging the comander after leaving the group thanking them for their time. and wishing them luck on the future. regardless if it was a “kick” or kill.
IS this harder?
of course.
but you gotta do what you gotta do.
to answer you original question is it possible? yes, does it happen? yes, often.
Just like any other requirement that a group asks for, either meet the expectations of the group. or set up your own.
Yeah, what the poster above me said is the way you have to go about this. The problem is that you’re looking at this the entirely wrong way. You’re complaining about how you’re being excluded because of your disability and that it’s not your fault that you can’t use voice comms. Strictly speaking, you’re not wrong…But it doesn’t matter. The reality is that your disability is causing a burden to groups, and you need to compensate for that.
The real life analogy would be like someone showing up in a wheelchair to a soccer match and complaining that nobody will let them join a team. Yeah, it’s unfair, but it’s not the responsibility of those people to compensate for another person’s disability. It is your responsibility to show and prove that you will not be a burden to the team.
Knowing only VG will pretty much guarantee that you never get a team. Typing out the mechanics for each fight would be immensely tiring and unfun. What you need to do is read every guide that you can, watch every video that you can, and learn the fights as well as possible without actually doing them. Then, you can go to a training group and say that although you can’t use voice comms, you’ve already learned the fight and are confident in your ability to perform it properly.

I wish I could just say something like this to opt out of some other reqs, just gets stressful to me otherwise tbh. I guess maybe I could say something like I’m mute I can’t talk but only type, rather than saying the flat out truth which is no I don’t have a mic on me atm.. which is what ends up invariably happening. I can’t keep up with all these newfangled reqs these exp guilds keep throwing up nowadays.. it didn’t use to be this hard and imo I feel it’s main reason y I only managed to find one decent raid guild to join.
Finding an exp raid guild that’s not too stringent in its ts-centric reqs is like trying to find a training run for xera, like chasing after a unicorn almost. I applied for one with not-too-strict reqs once (or so I thot) for EG or somethin, got contacted for a mock interview or some such in-game. So I join, guy inmediately tells me to get on ts so we can hash it out. Have to confess I don’t have a mic on my comp tho, he says that’s a dealbreaker and we can’t continue. More then a bit surprised since this seems like a hidden req, not mentioned anywhere where I applied either. I mean dunno but it seems like bit of a double standard to me, I raided with some of those guys in their guild and most of em never use a mic either. But ye one thing I never ever used for however long I been raiding, is mic for w/e reason. I mean ill get on ts and listen but I’m not gonna be jumpin thru any more hoops thx… not if that’s gonna supersede everythin else and be a dealbreaker to the fact that I have exp with all boss kills and tanking on all boss except xera (cos no chance to ever get training exp). So dats y I don’t complain long as I got an exp pug-friendly raid guild when most ppl suggest that u have three or more of em. I dunno but those ppl are just the try-hards tbh. Y’know, those guys that ping a whole stack of LI and then follow that with ‘but I have s’more in bank too if u gimme a min’.. like wow dude get over urself (no one cares).

Are you actually deaf Glael?
Voice-communication is highly overrated…
Sure it’s nice to have, for explanations and for people still learning, but you don’t really need it if you know what you’re doing.
I clear the raids every week (with pugs exclusively) and if they use TS, it’s more used for smalltalk than anything else. The full run last week started with the question if someone needs ts and as nobody cared we did it without… It really makes no difference with experienced people 99% of the time.
I also recall one occasion (early december i think) where the last one to join the group told us he was deaf so it wouldn’t make any sense for him to join. He got told that we of course expect him to do his job regardless and will replace him if it doesn’t work out… He played backup for cannons at sabetha (where he had to watch for himself if a throw fails and he is needed ofc) and green circles on VG (here he just asked the commander to mark the 4 regular guys, so he could easier see if they all make it in time) and it was absolutely no problem.
Long story short: If you have a reason for not joining voicecom i’ve rarely seen a group that had a problem with that. But of course it’s your job to make up for it (which is completely doable).

Really? You wish to be able to say something like that? How do you even compare your situation to being deaf/mute?
Since I value you so much as a key user in this sub forum, I took the effort and went into EG’s website, just to find this highlited line in their recruitment form:
Being interested in using voice chat REGULARLY is essential to being in our community.
I’m not from NA, but afaik, EG has some Hardcore groups, which means they will obviously have high requirements. that “mock” interview you referred to is pretty standard for guilds of that kind, and being able to communicate is the key difference between PuG runs and high-end guild runs.
So the only one to blame is yourself here.
You really do stand up to your name, nagr.
Are you actually deaf Glael?
No I’m not. But since I am on the autism spectrum I simply can’t talk to strangers (selective mutism) and even listening can be a problem since I’m very sensitvie to noises. If people are talking too much or too many people at one time it can lead to a meltdown and I need long recovery times for this. So I avoid getting into this as much as possible.

We can both agree that line is deliberately vague, and thus ambiguous to most. Being interested in ‘using voice chat’ ? Last I checked clients like ts and discord could laudably be considered as voice chat platforms. So simply making ‘use’ of such clients on a regular basis by listening to others and following instructions in-game could be construed as one interpretation of it. at least, that was my take.

What am I to blame for – that I don’t want to use my voice and speak to complete strangers in a virtual game bc I want to maintain some semblance of anonymity at the least? Well sure I guess I am to blame for that. Not expecting to find a semi-hardcore guild that doesn’t require all its members to jump thru so many deliberately convoluted hoops. Maybe they except u to wear a riduculous tin hat and be able to lead grps as well. I dunno bro
I will say I have pugged with guys from EG and some of them are just awful players who don’t even respond in chat. They’re not leading anything or even saying anything in voice chat. They have their mics turned off just like me, only they tend to play waay worse at times. So dunno what’s up with this guild and how they let those guys join. nor do I really care anymore *sighs

Yeah, you’re just being deliberately obtuse. There’s absolutely nothing vague about that line. You’re just trying to defend an absurd choice on your part that nobody in their right mind would agree with.
I will say I have pugged with guys from EG and some of them are just awful players who don’t even respond in chat.
Lol, only because they have played worse than you in a pug doesn’t mean they are worse players or not able to carry their weight when it comes to important things/situations. Dude, almost everyone who is active in this subforum has played together with speed run guild members and had them joking around, trying funny stuff or not being concentrated in their pug runs. I had my worst VG kill with a lot of speed run guild members when nobody was focussed and played sloppy, so we wiped around 6 times although being in TS and we didn’t even try a special tactic.
Fact is, if you try to keep pace with them in a serious run you’ll see their back lights only after words and stories you have presented here from yourself.

We can both disagree. There’s nothing vague about that, to me that line looks crystal clear.
Aaaaand the trash talking continues… Don’t be surprised that the community doesn’t like you later…
You are comparing pug runs to guild runs which is very wrong. People often join pug runs to try a new class / pass some free time etc’, and not necessarily care about the kill, thus play bad / not talk in TS.
Like people who commented above me, I’ve also seen members of top guilds in pug runs that remain completely silent, that doesn’t mean they act the same in guild runs with their friends.
Hopeless..

Totally wrong. You are excluded because you exclude yourself.
There are hundreds of visual or written guides (e.g. dulfy…) where you can get an idea of the boss and its mechanics. If you understood, whats going on just join a “training” squad or creat one yourself.
Even on new wings (let’s pretend we’ll get some one day….) voice com is nice to have for coordinate ideas, but thats just a timesaver.
There are even some guilds looking for ts-free raids.
And even on a “high level” youd dont need ts. Especially there everyone should know what to do so why talk about what happens.
