Raids its ever possible?
I’ll tell you what to do if you want a progress so much.
Form a dedicated group to farm dungeons.
That’s more then enough.
No for raids from me.
There are other games like a famous one -_- who can fullfill your needings, if you truly think you need “tiers” to feel yourself growing as player or guild. God bless us from raids and armor tiers.
There is a open world raid called Dynamic Event. If you are expecting a 20 people instance type, I believe you will never see one.
I’m not sure the character classes we have are built to function in large raids. The five man encounters in dungeons have their different mechanics, but the open world bosses just sort of stand there and absorb damage until they fall over.
In the future Anet could probably design some content for large groups, but first they’re going to need some time learn about how the people are using their characters in existing encounters.
Don’t think the group synergy would work in larger groups or the general fight mechanics. It would just become zergy like the big dynamic events.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
I could see raids working if the dungeon instance required you to split your team to tackle multiple objectives at once. Sorta like the beginning of The Deep in Factions.
well i woul like to see somthing diferent im loving the game at all levels but i think for pve players its a lilte low… coz for pve i just need to finishe legendarys…. i thing loging every day to get mats etc etc for legendary its a litle boring… allredy done all isntaces have alote of professions to sell on trading post some time i do spvp but i miss more pve things :P
I highly doubt traditional raids would work. It would be a random raid mob running around with zero agro control picking off whoever it wants. Also remember they would have to give him more hps/dmg to compensate for the fact he is a “raid mob”. I couldn’t imagine the one shot posts that would gain.
Maybe you can make something like Subject Alpha or Giganticus into a raid, but then why? Whats the difference at that point between 5 people hitting him and 100?
yap true i guess but i fill the need of somthing to do in game not just the legendary… at this point i dont need to farm more dungeons or want it… did it to many time atm :S you understood my point? like spoonybard.5612 says in hes post something new for pve ppl that need to play more!
It seems like people are completely missing the point, its like WAY WAY off the map. Some people think “If you want to raid, go play WoW, or SWTOR” you name it.
Its even with this thought you begin to move toward the wrong direction. In order to make the game better, raids should be implemented. Its not about "if you want to do this, and if you want to do that, go do that and go do this, its about having everything on the same plate to enhance overall gaming experience.
Secondly, people are concerned with the overall playstyle of raids and how it will be, they think that the raiding mobs will just chase randomly, but no no, here is where you haven’t done your reseach. Mobs and bosses in Gw2 DOES HAVE A AGRRO SYSTEM.
Aggro: The player that has most damage, and closest to the mob / boss will have the aggro, it also have something to do with toughness. (in the sense that mobs and bosses seems to go toward people with HIGH toughness.)
Can anyone please give me a rational answer why raids will be bad to the game?
- Gear is not an issue, there are simple and effective systems for that.
- Worrying about not being able to join a guild and raid is not an issue at all and should not prevent raids from existing. (would be seriously stupid)
- Casual players do not HAVE to raid, because the difference between a raider and a non raider won’t be that big.
Can anyone please give me a rational answer why raids will be bad to the game?
There isn’t one. Many people are strongly against the idea of raids because they themselves do not want to do them and so they think no one should be able to. That is all it comes down to.
There is also no reason why raids would not work in this game. Agro won’t be a problem for the same reason its not in dungeons, bosses do nearly all damage through aoe red circles or attacks with obvious animations that you are intended to dodge or avoid.
The challenge would come from the mechanics of the boss and organisation of the players. Raid bosses that are about dps races and ability to tank/heal well were never that interesting anyway, it was the unique mechanics that made them so memorable.
I love GW2 and had a great time on my way to 80. The questing experience and combat mechanics are amazing but it feels end game is so lacking and empty because there are no long term goals to aim for outside of getting a legendary. Raids would add so much to the game and would not mean the game will be all about gear. I just hope arenanet realises just how many people want them.
“There isn’t one.”
Player combo mechanic + Rez mechanic + particle effects.
The problem is that raiders have, so far, failed to say why this game needs raids, when it’s explicitely designed to not have them as a major selling point.
- Casual players do not HAVE to raid, because the difference between a raider and a non raider won’t be that big.
Thanks. This is why there will never be raids. Raiders generally demand items that are superior to non-raider items.
Unfortunately, GW2 will not have better stats if you do X content. The gear plateau will always remain, and you will always get max stats outside of raids. This is why raids will never work in GW2.
See, raiders don’t actually like to raid. They just like to be better than other players even if they have less skill, simply because they can shedule their life around a game.
Proof: Every raiding game that allows people to complete raids with smaller groups for the same rewards has people immediately go for the small groups. See WoW: 25-man raids were dying once rewards became identical and Blizzard actually considered removing them outright due to it. If WoW had 5-man dungeons give all the best raid gear, nobody would do raids.
That’s why. Stats will never be better for raiding instances as this game is not designed to have better stats because you can run X dungeon, therefore barely anyone would do them, and therefore, there is no point to add them to the game.

Want large group stuff? Go WvWvW. Simple as that.
The problem is that raiders have, so far, failed to say why this game needs raids, when it’s explicitely designed to not have them as a major selling point.
Reasons why:
- It is fun for many people. Fun is good.
- It offers a place for challenging PvE content in a game that lacks it so far.
- It offers guilds or larger groups an activity to do together.
- It offers a long term goal for players to work towards, adding a lot of longevity to the game.
- It increases the server’s sense of community as more people have a chance to get to know each other and makes the game feel a lot more social.
By the way i noticed you failed to give one reason why not in your post.
Thanks. This is why there will never be raids. Raiders generally demand items that are superior to non-raider items.

That’s not true. Many people do dungeons in GW2 and none do it for the stats, they do it for cosmetics or fun. Many people are interested in legendaries in GW2, which require ridiculous time investments and give no stat bonus, which kind of proves stats aren’t the only incentive to work towards something and invalidates this point.
See, raiders don’t actually like to raid. They just like to be better than other players even if they have less skill, simply because they can shedule their life around a game.

Raiders love raiding. That’s why they do it, that’s why they are willing to pay a subscription fee for year after year to a game in which they are bored of all non raid content. It has nothing to do with wanting to be than other better players, although it does often have to do with wanting to be better players themselves. And why would they care if they are better than these other players? What would that give them? These ‘other players’ don’t factor in to their enjoyment of raids at all.
As for the 25 man vs 10 man arguement, it is very simple. It is much easier to get 10 people together than 25. Why did so many people exploit dungeons in GW2? Because exploiting is fun? Of course not, its because its easier and many people take the easist option. Did all the people who exploited dungeons in GW2 have more fun than those who did them properly?
All you point seems to come down to is that you don’t want to raid and so don’t want anyone else to do either. It wouldn’t affect you at all, but others whould get more enjoyment from the game and for some reason you have a problem with that.
I think RAIDs are possible
commander need a little revamp and need some more work creating these big dungeons, make them mega hard to finish, with lot of jumping puzzles, traps and strong bosses
but i say no for exotic 1tier exotic 2tier etc
just give the end chest a better chance of obtaining better loot such as pre-cursors or exotics or something special
I would like to see it some day.
They could do it but I believe Anets focus is solely on Spvp and Esports.
They think that is where the money is and that is what the dev priority is on.
I would like to see larger party things to do. Eight seemed like a great number in GW. And a few of the harder dungeons allowed for even more than that.
Now I would never expect the existing limit of five in existing dungeons or story modes to change. Too much is balanced about what a group of that size can do. But, why are we limited to five in open PvE zones? Just means if half a dozen or more guild mates want to do something like claw, they cant monitor each others health, they cant see each other on the map, and they can only communicate by spamming guild chat, which other people in the guild might not appreciate.
These people are already there anyways. So whats the issue with letting them group together? It would be nice to have parties of 8-10, and maybe when you try to enter a dungeon or the like you get a message saying “Your party is too large”. As you did in GW.
Besides that, the dungeons now don’t work for larger groups because they are so small (exception to Arah). Elite areas like Underworld or Fissure of Woe are essentially dungeons that are half the size of an entire map section. Where is the issue with making dungeons like those a little more difficult and adding 3-5 people cap to the party?
You could have objectives that require the party splitting in to A and B squads and hitting different timed objectives to accomplish one goal. Like, A DE triggering in a dungeon that requires four people to split off and light a guarded lighthouse to summon a ghost ship down the coast that four other people need to swim to and loot for an item to give to the forgemaster before the ship disappears.
I have no problem with parties of 5. But longer more challenging PvE content that allows for guilds to play together and coordinate in larger groups would be great. It doesn’t have to be a “raid” per say. Yes, stuffing more than five in AC now would be a zerggy mess. But content designed for a higher player cap wouldn’t share the same issues.
Dragonbrand
Some of the denial in this thread is laughable.
Just because you don’t like raid based pve, does not mean a lot of other don’t. There’s a reason the big name mmo’s always incorporate a raid based system, and that’s because its fun. It’s fun to get 10/20 people from your guild and go destroy raid bosses for cool looking gear for bragging rights.
You’re correct in saying that raids as we know them wouldn’t be the correct structure for guild wars. But something is needed, GW2 currently lacks any proper endgame pve content. Farming events isn’t endgame. There’s like a couple of dungeons limited to level 80 players but even those are lackluster in comparison to other mmorpgs.
Endgame content is required if you want the game to last longer than a few months, I personally like wvw and spvp, But not everybody does. and its those people who are going to run out of stuff to do.
Also, as a side note. Wouldn’t it be cool to mount a raid bosses head in your guild hall or house if/when those features are ever implemented?
