What about Elementalist pets, like Earth Elemental or the lesser one? Maybe Clones and Phantasms aren’t the same as those kinds of pets which is why they got overlooked.

Ranger pets do work.

Also i was going to test elemental powder on the dummies in silverwates. But i realised i dont have any armour sets with ranger runes on any character anymore. Easy way to test is to use locust swarm on necro and summon the elemental half way through the duration.

Minipets?

Minipets do not work anymore. Good things I have replaced all my ranger runes to scholar – except on my ranger bc my bear never dies !!!

My dandy highwayman mesmer (rapier, bottle of whisky, pistol, embroidered jacket, scarlet boots) will miss his pink flamingo^H^H^H^H^H moa.

Good news. I am glad that they fixed that bug.

Or was it a bug? Saw no info in patch notes. Minipets were cheap gimmick I agree but imo this runes should work with any summoned creature.

It was an illusion all along. My phantasms are not my companions after all … ;_;

I understand that illusions aren’t companions, they are rather skills. But they should give mesmer some love with how runes and sigils affect phants …

So this is just a guess. But they may have fixed minipets by making the the ranger runes require companions to have a certain amount of health. Obviously this fixed mini pets but also affected clones and phantasms because they have low health.

At least they work on ranger, I can deal, though pretty lame for mesmers… not like they need more things to hurt their damage potential. Ohh well, my auto attack damage will go up!10% of almost nothing is almost something right?

Would this mean that allies spawned using toys(skeleton from executioner’s axe etc) still work? According to frifox’ dps meter it has ~114k hp, so it should still work.

Its worth testing i guess. :P

It’s about the reflection damage. Mesmer have almost no damage modifiers compared to other professions, they also are unstable and now this …

Im just going to guess but that was probably some fool testing with banner of strength.

RIP ranger runes, you served me for a very long time.

I mostly run wit pugs so the 90% HP bonus from Scholar runes might not be active in most cases unless its a very good pug, so Im looking at an alternative rune.. but it looks like there really so no good alternative to scholars unless I go strength and get a group that stacks them.

You can try flame legion if you are a guardian.

Or Engi, or Ele, or really anything with burning or if you play with guardians or high burning uptime professions a lot

flame legion runes are good. your group will burn mobs/bosses anyway, so…..

I did some math and for mesmers, even if you have your scholar bonus up 0% of the fight, rangers are still worse by like 0.1%. Reflects are like only 1.2% less than Eagle runes with that under 50% hp bonus multiplier, but otherwise even for reflects there is no real competition for Scholars as long as you keep your hp up when using Feedback…

Pop some scholies on m8’s. It’ll all be right as a couple shimps on me barbie.

Expected that, slowly replacing anyways any char with strength runes.

just wondering since i plan on playing mesmer more, is this a guaranteed intended change? Or could they change it back so phantasms and clones help the ranger rune bonus?

If that is the case Phantasmal Defender would still work.

Have we checked to see if Phantasms are still affected by traits that cause them to do more %damage? Is it possible Phantasms are just bugged in general?

I’m curious, does anyone know if the Ranger runes still work when your pet us dead?

It doesn’t work with a dead pet, but it works with spirits.
