Revamped AC is very fun
I do love the new boss mechanics but the trash is a bit too much for lower level groups. Namely the baby spiders on the spider queen. Unless you have a group with 2-3 people that have aoe reflection it takes too long to kill them before they wipe you. I was in a group that sadly had no one who could aoe reflect so we had to try and aoe hard and hope for the best. It took us 12+ attempts to get 2/3 down but the group was demoralized and gave up.

I did notice the spider adds taking a little longer to kill, my group was all fully geared level 80s so maybe thats why we didnt notice it as much. I wonder if other lower level groups had problems with it too.. It seems like a simple fix tho
Just did path 2 with a PUG group and it really was a blast. Ghost Eater was super fun as we didn’t have any idea what was going on and eventually got the hang of it. It actually bugged out on us a few times and I had to hammer #4 it to get it unstuck. Skipped Troll and Kholer. Looking forward to the other paths – nice work by Anet on this.
Its good to hear that even with a PUG you guys didnt give up and still used teamwork to get it done. Some people seem to think that easier/quicker is better but i would disagree with that.
I like the fact that we are getting new ways to do bosses. I agree the adds are a little too much for lvl 35 dungeon. This really should have been implemented on a higher level dungeon.

Did this last night and finally got the hang of it after like 30 minutes at ghost eater :P was great fun, also the cave troll is stronger now, though his health and kohler’s and all of the bosses was significantly lowered. I like the new change. I do agree those ads might be a little too much for fresh 35’s.
Most of the times, when i read posts i respect everyone’s opinion and for that i rarely
reply on topics , but now i believe it is time for me to let all others reading this know, that the new revamped AC was NOT as good as the old dungeon.Although the new boss in p1 is abit harder, but more fun, same goes for the 3rd path, but what about the second path? it was a nightmare….sure with good teamwork you will manage, as we did, but still…why does it regains that “ghostly armor buff” so fast? What is the point? It really is no fun for players to do the same thing over and over again…Anyway the dungeon is much longer now too….Most people were tired at the end, and the previous bosses were “that small challenge” before the big reward…Now?They are like the hardest part of the dungeon….Not all people have plenty of time to play the game…That said…. we had trouble, and were all level 80 with exotic/ascended gear…What about the new players?? How will they manage the first revamped dungeon they encounter, when it is harder than higher level dungeons like CoF??Most of them will probably be scared to death and won’t ever try a dungeon again until they are 80 with good gear…I really hope Arenanet takes these factors into accounts next time….What we need are not HARD dungeons…players are not ment to become experts in a game….what we need is fun!…. and the old ascalonian catacombs sure were alot of FUN!,whereas the new ones are harder, longer and well…the rewards are not worth it.
I’ve only done the new and improved path 1 so far and i enjoyed it. Lower HP is always welcome. The one kind of annoying part was one of the burrowing gravelings was burrowing so often we could barely get 1 hit in before it went under again. But we got his kitten eventually. I think it was just that one though, none of the other burrowing mobs gave us the same problem. Looking forward to path 2 and 3 hopefully tonight!
While I don’t think a lot of the changes do much for the dungeon in either a positive or negative light, I have to strongly disagree about the Ghost Eater. Yes, it was kind of dull before, but now it is a tedious gimmick boss of the worst sort and still dull. There is no thinking, no depth, and no room for player creativity or playstyle.
Worse for me, in the current state it seems prone to bugging out and being unfinishable. Out of three runs, either the traps stopped removing the Ghost Shield buff from the boss or stopped charging altogether. I can’t wait for it to get ironed out, but I still think I’ll take either of the other paths over Detha’s.
