Rozgar spins my whole team (CoF)
“working as intended” you don’t do dungeons for gold, you grindfarm fine materials against our anti farming code which is the real endboss of GW2 and he shall never be best, for his champions like jonpeters will smite you with their banhammers of awesomeness if you come close
SURPRISE!!!!
Should of been an explorable boss, story mode should be a derpfest but this one boss is stronger than the rest of CoF story combined
Here’s the trick:
Get one guy to aggro the swords and keep them inside Rozgar’s cave, dodging and healing. The rest of the group pulls Rozgar outside and a bit down the hill.
= SUCCESS!

Suddenly, perma ban for exploiting.

We just had 2 people kiting the swords away from the rest.
more deadly than any that walks this earth. Put aside the Ranger.
Become who you were born to be. I give hope to men. I keep none for myself.
then, suddenly they decide to de-aggro due to a mis-timed skill or the moon becoming conjunct with mars, your team wipes and we cry out for less fail ganking mechanics and cheese damage…
gg
Anet’s response is to buff the boss, the swords, the ground to deal a continual burning effect due to our tissue paper armor conducting heat and giving you hotfoot from the volcano interior and it’s discomfort being required to be tangible for balance reasons and the air to reduce healing by 5% due to being volcanic and dusty in nature
protip: when your players are doing dungeons naked and with their gear off to avoid repair bills you’ve done something wrong.
protip 2: when the only way for a theoretically level appropriate party of 5 to beat a segment of your dungeon is to do so in a way that is NOT what you intended. it’s indicative of an overtuned segment
protip 3: when you combine the issues above and respond with nerfs to rewards and buffs to the difficulty you prove beyond any shadow of a doubt you deserve ridicule and not respect for your changes, the flaming may be a bit immature but the laughing as cruel as it may seem is deserved. sorry

How’s that explioting?
He was fine with us. Those swords aren’t up for long. He has hammers and daggers as well, and they become much more manageable. 70-80% HP removes the swords, so split your party up to minimise AoE damage from the swords and Rozgar himself, and DPS him down full pelt until he whips out the hammers. Problem solved.
Resident Thief
This is a ridiculously absurd encounter for the people for whom it is intended (level 75’s in blue/green gear) as it is a STORY MODE boss but is easily harder than every single boss in explorable mode CoF.
Level 80’s with full trait points and exotic gear don’t have nearly as much of an issue because they can blow all their cooldowns and get him down below 80% at which point the swords of death go away.
Immobilize/slow him. That part only last 20% of the HP bar. He only does it once every 4-5 seconds. If you have some dps, that’s only 8-9 times you have to burst him. dodge 3-4 of the spins, take out the other spins with cc.
In my experience, it’s not really rozgar who is the problem, but his two greatswords.
At least for me, they are almost invisible and disappear completely into the background. It’s hard to tell if they are near you – if they are near you, you need to move, because you need to see in which direction they are travelling before they hit you so you can dodge to the side instead of along their passage. Non 80’s who dodge along their path will get chewed up and killed.
The atrociously bad camera angles don’t help either.
If you can keep from getting surprise gibbed by the invisi swords, rothgar can be CC’ed or avoided much more easily. His attacks are fairly well telegraphed.
Definitely the hardest part of the instance, but if I did it with a crappy pug in 3 tries, I’m sure you can get it down. The fight gets way, way easier once the greatswords go away, so just try to stay alive and burn him down until he switches.
You can do almost every fight in the game with a crappy pug by just graveyard zerg rushing it.
That doesn’t mean it’s a good encounter or well designed mechanic (and I wish they would just remove graveyard rushing)
Nobody ever said anything about graveyard zerging.
The trick for that part dealing with Rozgar is to not stand in the direction he is facing as he will spin in that direction. You will also want to pull him out so you have more room to dodge his spinning attacks and those from his greatswords. Once you get him down to 70-80% (burn all your elites etc), it gets alot easier.
Here is a video.
There wasn’t really any trick to it. Everyone just needs to go range including warriors and guardians. The greatswords’ damage was really not that much as you can heal from it. He was really easy to DPS down with everyone going range.
