Seaweed Salad Nerfed - PANIC BOIZ
the “wiggle” strategy to maintain uptime on its effect has a negative impact on the health of the game (and its players)
I’m gonna go visit a doctor straigt away, I just hope it’s not too late for me…

Seems like no improvements to power classes to make up for the nerf and barely any condi nerfs so yeah, maybe. Idk 90% is pvp related with some arbitrary kittened changes that don’t do anything thrown in with it.
The good thing is, we only need to wait another 3 months for barely any changes. Hype.
I will wait for math people to do their math, but looks like anet goofed up the balance again.
I think it is safe to assume Condi will be the go to for basically everything except kc, sloth,, and maybe vg now.

Looked at in isolation, I almost like the seaweed salad nerf. Brings it back in line with the other power food and if my quick napkin math wasn’t totally wrong, it should still be the best power food with perfect movement.
However, with the lack of a similar nerf to condi food, the devs have clearly shown that they have no clue about their game. Old news, I know …

A nerf to condi food wouldn’t have done much, at least if you guys are talking about the rumoured % nerf to duration that didn’t come to pass. Just swap 1 sigil to malice. Not quite the full 5% hit power classes got.
I feel like ANet really missed the ball here, more-so than has happened in the past. Not only did they destroy power classes in the meta, as that damage lost cannot be recuperated by any means, but they also didn’t even get rid of the movement modifier on seaweed salad.
Seriously, the following change would’ve been so much better in every possible way:
Seaweed Salad
+10% damage while HP is over 90%
Swiftness Whatever
It would’ve fixed the movement problem they cited, would’ve kept power builds relevant, and would’ve not thrown the Seaweed Salad TP market into mayhem. There would’ve been no downside whatsoever.

Doesn’t even need the extra requirement at all. Even before the nerf Condi food gave a comparable boost without any requirements.

No, it needs something so the other foods make sense. With what RisingDusk said as someone who uses seaweed in WvW a lot I’d probably have gone a different direction. That is how things should be done, an optimal option given a set of criteria with a different optimal option given a different set of criteria, otherwise what’s the point of all the options other than to waste the money of people who don’t know?
I’m curious as to precisely what does it mean that such food was “hurting the game’s health and players’ health”. Do they mean it was somehow toxic? I’ve seen many complaints about all kinds of things concerning raids but never about people not walking around enough with their seaweed. And when it was obvious that they couldn’t do it, we would always politely drop a TP merchant so they could buy other food that would actually make a difference.
The food is also particularly not viable for me as I have high ping from living far from the servers, as well as minor FPS drops during raids and WvW. No one has ever forced me into using them or demanded that I leave because I wouldn’t.

Like with condi food? lul
Weren’t condi sets up way to go now anyway? I don’t understand the change.

“hurting the game’s health and players’ health”
The part of the game is explained in that other power food was significant out competed by the 10% buff. The next best was around 6% effective buff.
The part about the players health reference the constantly clicking in order to keep the character in movement while not actually moving. Naturally this completely overlook the issue that dps engi has, but it still is an rather unnecessary strain on peoples fingers and keyboards. I doubt anyone will miss that part of seaweed salad, even if we all miss the 4% dps.
People are still gonna go adadadadadwswswswswadadada, its too late now…..too late mom i tell you!
I have to agree with Rising Dusk.
I agree it needed to be brought in line but then so did all the other +% food, including condition duration. Leaving out condition duration food was a bad idea and they really dropped the ball on that one.
Not sure if having lower damage across the board in raids is a bad thing, it’s already got a decent amount of wiggle room to not be too challenging to a decent group.

But then you lose a sigil. It might not be quite the same, but it would have been much more in line.

Nice theory, however the condi food is unconditional and clearly most powerful. So if SWS was to keep a condition they should have added a condition for veggie pizza as well to make it fit in this philosophy. Which I agree with, btw, I just don’t see it in the game.

pWonder what’s the best food now or maybe just quit power altogether and run condi meta
Don’t over react. Power still works just fine. I agree that the nerf was uncalled for, considering condi is still outperforming power builds.
Of course it works just fine. You can just fine put more effort to deal less damage. But you can do it.
To the devs, why didn’t you just remove the seaweed salad then? What’s the point of keeping it… i made several tries at golem with salad and with other food.. can barely notice any difference, if not stressing less with rotation, but now it’s already late, people like me already have seaweed salad syndrom xD So if you decided it’s bad for people’s health, just remove it from the game and amen! explanations please <.<
