Selling Arah
Pay them money, and then either one of two options. Either they will take you to the last boss and you’ll participate in that fight. Or you can just be sitting at the entrance waiting for the reward. Of course you get a boss chest if you go to the last boss so it’s prefered I’d think.
Sellers will either set up a portal, have a thief to stealth you, or give you other instructions on what they expect. Personally we’ll have you go to a waypoint and wait for a mesmer to set up a portal to the last boss usually. Then you just go to the waypoint, go to the spot, take the portal, then help in the last fight best you can.
people generally do it for the tokens, arah gear is cool looking, and then the item for bifrost I think it is. But then there are also people doing it for achievements, especially arah4 since it’s notoriously long.
The buyers are generally people like you who have limited time but really want something out of arah. And with arah being as long as it is, without a solid group to do it, personally I’d probably buy it too… but i’m lucky enough to have a solid group.
P1 and P4 you’re not expected to do anything at all except waiting.
P2 boss is either at 1% or they’ll portal you to help or they kill it from 100%. Mostly it’s 1% so no worries there. It’s a little tricky to kill it alone.
P3 varies. Usually they ask for help because the last boss isn’t necessarily hard to solo but it’s faster and safer with a full group. Same as P2, helping them is easy and reduces the risk of failing.
Most important of all, don’t be a kitten. Don’t be the guy who joins and after 5s asks “is this taking any longer?”
If you see people leaving or getting kicked they’re probably fillers so don’t throw a hissy fit about “omg scam noo”.
Awesome! Thanks for the info. Jerus, if you’re one of the sellers then I will probably contact you in the next couple of weeks. I’m using my time at the moment to get my WvW in, but I’m on holidays in May so I’d love to do this then.
What does it mean by proxy? Meaning there is a middle man which direct you to the actual group once he get payed?

Yes. This is used to prevent the grief merge button or to stop other shenanigans.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.

As lilith said to prevent greifing. I know a friend had two guys pop in his group and kick him closing the instance the other day when he was trying to sell a path. So yeah, just prevent that kind of BS.

Glad I could help. A couple other little tips. P2 is generally the cheapest path, probably in good part due to the fact that there is an exploit that lets you skip part of it. You’ll see paths marked “legit” and I believe that’s why but personally I question those more as it’s a question of why would you feel the need to say that, and why would anyone post that it wasn’t? Just figured it’s a good thing to know though, that it exists.
But p4 is expensive, probably best to just get once so you can get the achievements. p2 is generally cheapest at like 6g. That may sound expensive but you get 3g for the daily chest, plus some extra silver in the completion chest and drops. So you’re really paying less than 3g for the tokens.
Also, remember that the bonus chest is daily, so you only get that 3g and 40 tokens once a day. I’ve sold paths to a couple guys who didn’t realize or remember that and they walked away with 20 tokens and some silver missing out on the bonus 40 tokens and 3g. it was unfortunate, but it was their own fault =/ let their mistakes be a learning experience for you both and don’t make that mistake =)
I can only speak for myself, but while there is a lot of complaints about selling I really have not had many bad experiences. In GW2 we of course have people pay first, and a lot refuse to so we kick them. In my old game (EQ) I use to have people pay me after, heck I had people who had tabs. There is a level of trust you have to place in the party who gets their stuff first. But at least for myself I simply see a mutually beneficial situation where I can provide a service and be rewarded for it. I have no reason to scam because… why? It’s like stealing from your work, you’re just gonna get fired then both avenues are gone, if I ripped people off eventually I’d get blacklisted and that’s no fun. So personally I’ve always had faith in the system because it’s a solid system that both parties benefit from. The only issue is when you get griefers in there that somehow think they are in the moral right disrupting a completely happy situation between the buyers and sellers.
Paths marked legit are mostly legit. Swimmers don’t go the extra mile to say stuff like that. They just think gold/h.
Jerus are you NA? In EU p2 is like 3g in prime time. You can get max 5g if you’re pushing your luck.
on NA I see up to 8g, probably about 5-6g on average. then again I play oceanic hours so it may be different in the more active time periods
Oh ya, didn’t think to say i’m on a NA server. One of these days I’d like to try doing a few more dungeons myself. If they all took 15 minutes that would be great, but I get they have to have the harder content for the non-casuals.

This is fairly typical in NA prime time as well (5-6 g for p2).
to be honest, i would avoid these like the plauge
been hearing of people scamming (get the money close the instance) and honestly i’d bet that a good percent of them have exploited thier way to the finish to save money (NOT SAYING EVERYONE DOES IT), when some1 claims the run was “legit” it just raises the question since its easy to say that it was.

On the other hand, since Jerus has been kind enough to explain everything I think I would trust him over some LFG person or someone spamming in map chat. I would risk the gold once. If I got ripped off, well, I think I can live without Arah stuff.

It’s fairly easy to check. Is there a waypoint at Lupi? If not, he’s not dead, so the path was exploited. Done.
Sometimes you simply have to trust people, thats how most non secure deals go. I’ve yet to see a game set up some kind of secure merc system, but I’d love it. I haven’t seen a game take a stance against it either, while some players do, the games don’t, which is nice and really makes sense as Mercs are part of many games’ lore, it’d be odd to have merc NPCs but then say doing so as a PC is against the rules.
As far as the glitch goes is it still there? I know they fixed TAFlower jump with the update. SE dredge cart/jump in the last update. If it’s not fixed already I’m sure they’ll be getting to it soon. Until then you can choose whether to care or not, I just wouldn’t trust a message of “legit” /shrug.
