I kind of want to just try doing it but there aren’t really any groups in lfg that aren’t selling spots. I even saw someone trying to sell spots for story for 1g, which I know from personal experience is super easy. I watched for awhile and saw lots of sellers and no real groups.

There was once a player, a long time ago (2-3 days, maybe), who was able to find a group for Arah via the lfg-Tool, despite all the nasty scumbag sellers. Let me tell you his story…

OP, like you, I don’t like the idea of selling dungeons paths: I think selling them (even legit), hurts the “players- helping- players” elements of the community.
Helping players, imo, caring about fellow humans who, just like you, are enjoying Tyria, should be not mandatory, but at least desiderable. Sure, there are some goons everywhere, but noone can do every single content alone…
In short, why milking people this ruthlessly for even the most basic of things, like AC, the easiest dungeon out there (level wise)?
How much gold do you crave for people? What the hell do you need it for? I can’t understand…
(And this is from someone who farmed dungeon, has been in Arah Vet and still farm, so not your first angry casual player…)

Anyway, back on track: let’s face it, we can’t stop dungeon selling. And maybe it would be even wrong to try: afterall, selling paths makes buyers and sellers happy. Just because we don’t like dungeon selling, there are people out there who are looking for a legit seller, hoping to achieve something.
…But I admit, I feel a little better each time I help for free in Arah P4.

I am uniquely blown away every other day by how white-knighted GW2 is in contrast to every other game, ever, and it seems without source; it just has this inexplicable hugbox aura surrounding it that attracts carebears.

Maybe because Arah might be contested for the person in question. I don’t even know WHY they have contestable DUNGEON ENTRANCES in the first place. Some, like CoE never seem to be uncontested….

People are afraid because they feel like if they make the group they must set the tone. Rather than joining a group, and just tagging along. I only make my own group when I have a friend though, I need someone to punt people with, or else I’d be stuck with god knows what. This is mostly in regards to arah. Other dungeons, I don’t really care, since they are pretty easy even with bads.

I, personally can solo path 2 of arah. I do it for fun and to hone my skill level. So when I complete the path I could just finish the last boss and be on with my life, or I could provide a public service by selling the spots to the “less fortunate” who may not be able to complete the dungeon, even with a group. Is that so wrong of me?

Thing is, server guesting is ruining server communities. But that’s yet another issue. I’m playing on a very high populated server and we never have temple of balthazar open, we fail tequatl almost always. Do you know why? Because people just don’t want to deal with it, they know they can just guest to a more orginized server and be done with it. NO SERVER LOYALTY whatsoever :|

People seem generally interested in doing frostgorge/queensdale trains and whenever I go there to ask for help I get all boo-ed and other unpleasantries

There are server transfers for that. IMO if you are not going to contribute to your server, move on. Stop wasting people’s time

I fail to understand how playing with the people from my own server would contribute to it in any way. You can guest too you know.

Servers don’t mean kitten in pve, and thankfully so. I’m not about to pay for a server transfer every time I want to do fire shaman event on my server and it’s dead because of the time of night. No, i’ll guest for free to a server that is populated thank you very much.

This whole loyalty thing is a load of rainbows and lollipops. If you want ‘loyalty’ then go to WvW. If you want ‘community’ go talk in Lion’s arch map chat, you’ll have a gut-full of it after a couple minutes and then be begging for it to go away.

The one thing DB does right, is having arah open almost all the time. I have seen it contested once in the past month, and a commander was leading a charge to open it. <3 dat arah.
