Selling dungeon paths, reportable?
How’s anyone going to do that with all but 3.5 letters blurred out?
She wants to stay anonymous and the 3 letters will be enough for anenanet to link it to one of the tickets that they received about banned accounts, or check their PM’s
Furthermore the admins of ANET can clarify her account name seen in the background of that picture.

On TS the person’s name was “Alatea.” The first two letters of the e-mail seem to be “Al.” Could be similar. Anyway, as Chris showed, they keep records of the bans. How many people did that particular GM ban on August 25th in Arah? If what Element is saying is true, they should be able to find out who it is pretty easily and clear up the situation to the player base. Or he can at least explain why his SS had a different profession than the SS Element posted.

The banned screen that element posted was a generic picture taken from google images, thats why he later posted the real picture of the suspention message.

I know. So now it’ll be interesting to see what Chris says, if he responds at all.
Anet provided wrong screenshot.
The mystery behind the screenshot? GM said “Legit” to the banned person then teleported to a second instance for a second check, thus time dif (which is the SS with that asura ele).

There’s 3 minute difference between the screens. GMs probably move fast I imagine especially if they can just teleport from one instance to the next.
Either way ArenaNET has the info and if it was a wrongful ban it will get appealed. There is a support forum for such issues if you feel you were unfairly banned. I guess that doesn’t get him the attention creating a scene with photoshop does though…
Soo what is wrong with Chris here?
If OP’s friend took a random ban screenshot off the interwebs and tried to play it off as their own, then that isn’t Chris’ fault. You deceived him.

That explains why Chris posted the wrong SS. Dev teleported over 3 minutes later, but the chat was still up, so Pan’s probably accidentally provided Chris with the latter SS rather than the one Element posted.

Photoshops seem to be increasingly necessary when people like Chris dismiss these claims with shallow arguments like “you’re posting on the forum, obviously we didn’t ban you”. Posting a screenshot with mismatching professions isn’t helping either.
I suspect Chris is serving as merely a relay being fed misinformation from at least one of the parties involved, but the bias is not helping him (or ANet) any.

OP’s friend took a legit screen shot of his instance and mixed it with a generic ban screen shot rather than doing a print screen of his own ban screen. It SEEMS the instance part is legit, and the OP later posted what SEEMS to be the legit ban screen. Chris, in turn, posted a ScreenShot of an instance, claiming it was the one to which the OP was referring, when it SEEMS like it was an instance Pan’s entered 3 minutes later.
So the question still stands: was Element’s friend legitimately banned? Because just by looking at the SS he posted, it SEEMS like ANET was in the wrong.

Chris addressed it because the person was trying to stir up a scene instead of going about through proper channels (submitting a ticket). The blame is entirely on the user trying to create drama for a potential mistake.

I suspect “instead” is actually “in addition to”. Given the attitude shown by the ANet employee in game, and Chris himself, this may have actually been what saved the account.
With the benefit of hindsight, I think it’s clear the only way now to get real legitimate action and attention is to force it. The recent developments with WvW commander tags, influx of red posts in this very subforum, and this incident itself only serves to cement this idea.
Ball’s in ANet’s court now if they want this status quo to change.

Completely wrong. Gaile is by far the most active ArenaNET employee on the forums and is constantly reviewing tickets for every issue. The person would’ve gotten unbanned one way or another, they just chose to do it the childish way.
Don’t get me wrong, getting wrongfully banned would kitten me off too and I may not take the most logical course if it happened to me but mistakes happen and the support system is there for that.
And the feedback things are unrelated to this.
First of all, the person that got banned never actually posted the screenshot nor made the image showing the edited screenshots (otherwise they would have used their own ban screen I’d think). Second, I think that if Anet starts checking sellers for exploiting, that’s great, but they should at least know enough about the exploits they are banning for to not wrongly ban someone. It’s not fair to punish legit players for things that malicious players do.
Also, we have seen in the past week that stirring up drama like this is the only way to actually get Anet to listen. So if more people get wrongfully banned I can completely understand if they want to make things like that to show to the community that things actually aren’t going as well as they might think.

And if Gaile was just as shallow and dismissive as Chris? Or fed bad information from this employee trying to cover up his mistake? Or if banned player did not have friends who would help advance her cause on the forums?
No screw that. ANet deserves any and all public backlash they get from false positives (lolfoxfireclusterslol). It’s the only way to deter more false positives in the future, and ensure those committing them get their justice (or at least learn/get trained to be more careful).
Claiming unban would have happened even despite all of this misinformation coming from the employee. Assuming support tickets were not filed. Your bias is painfully obvious and agonizingly useless.

It’s not bias, I just decided not to reduce myself to a mad animal in the presence of anything ArenaNET says or does that is not perfect in my eyes like a lot of people do. They made a mistake, they fixed it. The Foxfire ban was atrocious and they got a lot of negative feedback for it. This was a single case. It’s not “community blow up” material. It’s support ticket material.
And if you really don’t want to believe in their support system that’s your own decision. Worse come to worse if the ban wasn’t overturned by support THEN they could’ve posted the image/negative feedback. And let’s be honest if they had been refused by support they would’ve posted about it since their goal was to smear ANet’s image as much as they could for the mistake.

Foxfire bans were overturned within hours. Why? Because people went beyond the “recommended” avenue of support tickets and stirred up a massive scene on forums. Accounts got unbanned days/weeks faster. People who would have given up and uninstalled got their accounts back right away. Don’t be a hypocrite now too. Either dismiss all of them for their “childish” actions or realize the same thing applies here.
Also think about why this mistake would have been made. If it was any of inexperience, malicious feelings toward sellers, or chemically induced imcompetence, then this is likely not the only ban that happened.
Before you turn up that passive aggressive “mad animal” bit to 9000 take a look at my post history in this thread. I posted nothing up until “ANet can do no wrong” white knights came in and started defending and justifying the situation.

If you don’t understand how this and the foxfire bans are different, then this discussion is over.
I was very vocal in my negative feedback towards ArenaNET for the foxfire bans.

Please enlighten me. You’ve hinted that it was because it was a mass ban, but how do individuals know about the magnitude of it unless they discuss it outside of the “recommended avenue” of support tickets?
How does this player realize her ban was a single case or a mass ban from power-hungry GM with a vendetta against sellers?
I’d appreciate if you could address some of these points, but it may be even better if you follow through on your claim that “this discussion is over”.

Post got infracted and deleted (?!?!?) so I’ll say it again, the player was improperly banned and is now un-permabanned.
In my opinion, things like carrying other players and rushing dungeons to sell them is not something that should be punished.
Rushers are kind of like mercenaries. If you need the service and agree with the price, it’s a fair transaction, as long as it’s within the game rules.
As long as they are not exploiting anything or kicking other players to sell their spots, then it should be fine.
But that doesn’t mean the game should take them into consideration. The design should encourage people to do the stuff themselves, and any new design or improvement should give rushers the least of all priorities. What they do is a ‘side-job’, and if something in the game changes that prevents them from doing that again, then… well… though luck, time to move to the next coin-making scheme.
Not everything players do is to be rewarded, but all rewards should be earned.
Now, I’d rather have dungeons scale rewards with progress in the dungeon. So a guy that was from the start gets fulls rewards, a party that completes all bonus events gets bonus rewards, aother bonus for defeating enough enemies in that path, ,and someone that just joins in to hit the boss a couple of times and claim the end only gets minimal rewards.
Achievement points would require minimal progress too.
If that was done, that would allow splitting instances when someone gets kicked, as selling the end bosses in the copies would be pointless, and so nobody would kick on purpose to create several copies of a nearly finished instance to sell them, because those that just join to kill the last boss would get rewards comparable to just killing some random champion or an easy world boss in open world.
That way if you get kicked for whatever reason, instead losing all dungeon progress, you are sent to the closest waypoint in an exact copy of the instance with the same events completed and enemies defeated. So after being unjustly kicked, at least you can try and get some people join your dungeon and complete it. They’ll get less rewards as they’ll have less progress, but that’s why you need friends and guildies (or maybe pay a ‘mercenary’ to get in your instance).
Then selling the paths would be something done more like GW1’s mission rushes in which a player carried other players the entire mission, instead just getting people to join at the end. As there will be witnesses in this case, anyone exploiting to get faster to he boss would be more likely to get reported.
In this manner, GW2 rushers could actually be a thing. You pop the LFG tool and tick the “Volunteer as mercenary” checkbox on each dungeons you are willing to help, and players may take you up on that, accept your party and let you join them. At the end of the run, the other players would get a “tip jar” panel and the other players may donate if they want based on your performance, or not, and a tax cut is taken from the tips. And the rusher will not know who donated and get the tips together at the end of the day in the BL panel. So it’ll be a bit like GW1’s runs for tips, without pressure if you don’t want to donate.
BINGOOOO!

Yup, the so called exploited run used less exploits than than there has been dungeon development.
Closing this thread as it has gone well beyond the original point and has turned into a rather large misinformation campaign. The user mentioned later in this thread was not unbanned, but had their account termination changed to a temporary one due to leniency for first offense (as is the case for many users who are just now getting their first account action).
I honestly believe that after 2 years, it might be difficult for some players to understand what an exploit is and what isn’t. This is why leniency (in some cases) is just as valuable as a permanent block for the health of the game. Education of our user base is important, but repeat education is not something that we are going to put up with. Repeat offenders will be actioned heavily.
I’m not going to go into any more particulars for this specific case, the forums are not the proper place to get into this conversation. If you wish to discuss this further, feel free to open a ticket with Customer Support.
