Show me your "Legendary Insights"
Raids are top class content, they aren’t even meant to pugged, it’s obvious you won’t have a high win ratio without coordination.
I advise you to find a proper guild and do it like it was meant to be done, please don’t whine about not being able to succeed with pugs.

If someone is wanting to start raiding now, they shouldn’t be joining groups looking for people who are experienced with the raid. Simple as that. Don’t join lfg’s if you know you aren’t what the group is looking for.
As for other reasons you might not have a lot of insights, tough luck. Pug groups want to get the player that gives them the greatest chance at success, usually this means the player with the most experience, and that will mean the player with the greatest number of insights, and that is completely within their right. No one is obliged to take a pug they don’t want to take.
are people really so daft as to think that asking for insights is a good idea ?
Here…..2 seconds of my time on google.

It is the only filter people have (except eternal title) when doing pug raids. Sharing API keys would be too much hassle for most I think? Btw your item code does not seem to work.

Pretty much this. It’s basically the raid equivalent of AP checks. It’s not perfect, it’s not even particularly good, but it’s the best way to gauge the experience of a player without spending 20 minutes interrogating them, or throwing them straight into fights to see how good they are.
I’d love it if pug groups were able to tell exactly how good a player is just from the lfg, but that’s not realistic, and will never happen. When life gives you lemons, ping legendary insights.
Hah, yea this is skill prove? I take to raid druid with full exo. Thanks to him we finally kill sabetha.. And he never did raid before. But for pugs is this “skill indicator” so go on wiki and link them 20 insignias if they want it (such easy bro)
Btw: I tell skill sigh.. No skill no, you need only know your class(exping class from 1lvl to 80 without books of knowledge or wvw is the best way how to understand your proffesion) and metabattle can help you if you are lost so : don’t loose hope, try alwayss tell pug leader truth. Speed runs bored me, I hate elitist players… and I find that most funny raid is with non experienced players.
So.. I start play scrapper. "
How difficult is it to join a guild or just find a permanent group? :s If you’re serious about raiding I’d suggest that and not this painful pugging madness. Legendary insights, rly? xD

I usually just interview people, and see if they’re able to expand upon dealing with boss mechanics besides. “I have eternal”. Then when they step inside I just watch people go through the fight and help them deal with mechanics more efficiently, rather than whining about people failing like half the groups seem to do.

If they are willing to learn they should look for a group of experienced people… it’s a smart thing to do. They just need to watch youtube videos of the fights beforehand, and be open minded… Taken in plenty of first timers to a particular boss before, and succeeded
I make PvP & WvW videos

Sorry, I probably could’ve been clearer in my post. I don’t mean to say that new players shouldn’t raid with experienced groups, but that if a posting on the lfg states “raid looking for experienced (insert class here)”, a player without experience should not join that lfg, because the group has explicitly stated they want something else.
You’re right that running with people who know what’s going on is a better way to learn, and if a new player can find an experienced group who is happy to show them the ropes, that’s great, and they should go for it. But lots of experienced groups just want to get in, get the kills, get out, and don’t want to take the risk of someone trying to learn the fight at the same time. Just generally, people shouldn’t join groups when they clearly aren’t what the group is looking for. That’s what caused so much anger about full glass dungeon runs back before hot. PHIW players joining groups asking for meta builds and expecting to be accepted, or players with meta builds joining PHIW groups and expecting everyone to be full damage and stacking everything. My point is just that people should read an lfg, and if they don’t fit the description, leave it alone and wait for an lfg that they do fit.

I prefere someone who don’t cares about insights than one with over 20 of these, because I know the 2nd guy will ragequit at one mistake making me lose more time than the first.

“they aren’t even meant to pugged,”
Could you please link to an official statement from ANET that specifically states that Raids are not meant to be pugged.
If you can’t, please kitten and keep your personal opinion to your self.

He is right:
Colin Johanson emphasized that this was intended to be coordinated endgame content, not something a PUG can tackle:
“[For raids,] we focused on players working together on really challenging content. I believe that is part of community building. We cater to a ton to different playstyles. We have content that you don’t have to group for and some that you can do in ad hoc groups.”
Another one:
“Can you PUG these?
Mike Z: if you are really really good PUG group. Maybe? Maybe for the first 1-2 bosses. We want these to be a true challenge.”
A big part of this problem is that ANET has been avoiding providing us with the tools to properly form groups. In a game with raids and content that will need a certain caliber of player…filters are needed. In the absence of reliable filters, we get stuff like “show me your legendary insights”. This absence of tools also gets us across the board stigma against certain professions. Its seriously hurting the game by them holding out on providing proper raid/group formation tools. Groups would be much easier to form, much easier to succeed in, and there would be less frustration overall. People are extremely reluctant to accept randoms into an organized run because they can only guess at their caliber/competence. Its hard to even be sure they are geared properly without a lot of hassle. Its entirely reasonable to expect to control the variables that are possible to control (gear/build), but ANET makes it difficult just to get that much done. We need tools in-game (gear/build profiles and meters…not just dps…but all the other important metrics as well). Death logs, sources of incoming damage, healing, etc. Once that is available, I’d bet that pugging raids would be a lot easier…as you would take the fear and guess work out of group formation and performance.
