Simin, High Priestess
Ran this yesterday. We ended up mainly bruteforcing. At some point it always started healing after being 1-2 seconds out, I think then someone ran sparks or something.
We tried to run sparks properly but sometimes there wasn’t any spots left. Or sometimes Simin appeared but kept still healing. Or sometimes sparks just exploded mid-way.
the bug is easy to replicate once you understand how it works.
to bring her back from invisibility you must gather 5 sparks around the statue, however she will also come back from invisibility once she reaches around 100% of her health depending on if your attacking her at the time.
the trick is to pull only 4 sparks to the statue whilst you let her yes, let her heal to 100%, then when she hides again at 50% you only have to bring 1 spark to the statue to cause her to reappear in this time you have to bruteforce her down before she hides again.

^This. Robert Hrouda fails to realize that in a DPS race fight, only warriors succeed. I don’t mind DPS races in PVE, but ONLY if there is a way for a player to check their DPS and find out if they are suitable for said fight. In this game the Simin fight is just horribly un-polished. The receptacle shield graphics bug out constantly, the receptacle ground-effect highlighting bugs out constantly. After falling into their receptacles, the sparks bug out before dropping to the ground and they all stack on each other in the same receptacle.
The Simin fight needs to be polished up to live standards. Right now it’s just buggy and barely beta ready, nevermind being in a game one month post-release.
With all that said, I still think this fight is fun and has interesting gameplay mechanics that makes it one of the more memorable fights of all the Arah paths.
See, we did not have any warriors with us. But I mean, Anet stated that any and all classes are able to do the dungeons, and it seems like we are required to have GS warriors in order to kill her. Because the sparks are just NOT working…
It’s not 100% required, but it’s easier.
I did it with 1 Ele, 1 Mesmer, 1 Thief on Simin. While another Mesmer and another Thief were on tear/spark duty. Took us a good hour or so even after we nailed down our strategy.
I find it more curious that, despite probably near a hundred threads about this particular boss, I can’t recall Arenanet ever speaking up about the state of it.
Ya I noticed sometimes I pulled 3 sparks and then she appeared while other times I had to pull all of them. Then there are times the sparks refuse to go into place you gotta keep running through wasting time its clearly bugged but doable
Doing this is NIGHTMARE with ranger pet. Its just imposible :’(
Ive done it with 3 eles a mesmer and a necro.
I didnt have dps gear (ele)
The mesmer wasnt even DPS traited or geared
And the necro had no idea that his class could poison (No seriously, after 5 minutes of us asking him to tell us his poison skills he finally went “Oh I found one” and linked corrosive cloud or some such nonsense.)
The DPS check on simin is high, higher than any other boss ive ever faced, but it’s not impossible if you’re prepared for it.
You should try to pull sparks with ranger pet XD

She’s getting invulnerability now when she stealths. So i doubt that they were doing like that.

So instead of fixing a fight they change the basic game mechanics of stealth on a mob? Very weird…

The dps method while she stealth does not work now. Only sparks work. Tried the method with 4 and 1 spark and we got her to 30% health and the sparks just went kitten They start going through statue new and there is no way we can make a perfect spark run.
We killed her like 2 days ago using the strategy of bringing her down to 50% hp, then putting 4 sparks in, waiting her to reappear, bringing her again to 50%, then putting last spark and going all in with pure dps burst till she died.
Team consisted of 2 warriors (balanced build, not full zerker or anything), 2 mesmers (zerkers I guess) and 1 ele with a dps build as well I think. Overall we used 2 time warps, food to increase power and precision, that undead potion for 10% extra damage, banners, quickness and so on.
Fought her near the statue, she went down on the second try if I recall correctly, first one we brought her to 3% HP lol.

i havent noticed any big changes to the way i carry people thru the Simin encounter, although she tends to become visible more often whilst healing than before so it wouldnt suprise me they changed something.
but i’ve still found attacks connecting whilst she’s invisible (if she was invulnerable, attacks wouldnt connect, easily tested)

I guess I can try that a day or two later. It is just if we can’t kill her after 1st invis then most of the time we failed at running 4 sparks since sometimes sparks got a mind of its own or sparks won’t go to circles, etc

You’re not damaging her anymore while she’s invisible, it has been “fixed”. Common strategies that included moving her outside near the rocks so she do not stealth, using poison to lower her damage regen, hitting her while invisible aren’t really working anymore. Right now you gotta do real high DPS or pray that the sparks do not bug.
The real problem of this fight are the sparks, if the could make you have to pick the sparks and put on the cages or fixing their path so they don’t get stuck, moving through the statue and things like that it would make the fight better overall, maybe too easy haha.

Yeah we could have probably beat it if only one of our warrior has a banner and can heal himself. Think he went down every 20 secs and got petrified constantly while I was just too busy healing him w/ my d/d setup.
Last night we compared the kill videos to how Simin was behaving and it appears her health regen is much faster as well making it impossible to get her down now. We had epic DPS and got her to 50 very fast and had good spark runs, but it was a endless loop at 50%. So were done with this path untill a fix.
Finally beat it w/ the 4-1 spark strategy. Was a pain but we finally did it!
Sparks stay put now so you can see what hole they need to go into. We downed her last night using the 4 -1 method as well. It took a while but she is doable. We found using a necro to dot her then throw tears worked well.
