Whats the deal with skipping Lupicus nowadays?

Clearly Anet have taken measures to try and prevent players from skipping lupi (banning rifles and the new walls) but you can still skip him easily.

People have voiced what would be an easy fix in the past which would make any skipping ability completely pointless.

What is the deal?

Is it considered an exploit?

If so wouldn’t it be better to take more serious measures to prevent it?

Nothing will happen if you use it.

It would be better to just implement him into the sequencing but it took them… 7 month or so to do that with the path 3 endboss.

I’ve heard reports of people being banned for selling the skipping method

not sure how true they are

If I get a temp ban for skipping lupi I would say it’s fair.

There are a lot of people selling Arah paths on the in-game LFG tool at the moment, saying they will skip Lupicus. That’s a pretty easy catch for the developers if they really want to crack down on exploits.

Talk is cheap, there needs to be proof that they are “actually” skipping GL.

By the way if you twist the logic a bit, you could even say that skipping him is a valid option since there are two quest objectives (p2, not even sure if/how it works for other paths now) and you’re choosing to trick your way around the guard rather than fighting him.

Apart from the snowflake fiasco and the karma thing during the first weeks, did anyone ever get banned for exploiting (not hacking, exploiting) ?

I got banned from forums, does that count?

I got banned twice in a row

People who skip him are boring.. I like fighting him, one of the actually challenging/fun boss fights there are in Arah. Endbosses are too easy. Besides, the fight isn’t that long.

though i still kill lupi my fun has been greatly reduced by anet kittening up dodge after whirling attack

imo you can’t be banned for a their mistake.
I heard about people perma-banned for this exploit but for me is absolutly crazy, if someone get perma-banned for an exploit he/she should easly quit the game becouse is totally wrong. like i said someone can’t be banned for a mistake not yours IMO.

You choose to abuse it, it’s your fault.

To be honest, the 23 karma mistake and the snowflake disaster were like that. People getting banned for Anet’s own screwups.

But in the case of skipping lupi, you need to go out of your way to learn how to do it, and you are perfectly aware that you are exploiting. If it’s like HotW where there used to be a big hole in the wall where you can basically walk from one path to the other, I’d say it’s a gray area. But skipping lupi and anything in Arah is pretty black-on-white exploiting and denying it is just naive.

i disagree but i see your points. Still, be perma-banned for an exploit (abuse or not) for me is unfair, for me the only players that should be perma-banned are those who use bot for farm gold, hack the game and similar

well there’s exploits and then there’s exploits innit

I agree that a perma ban is not warranted for something as innocent as walking across the roof of certain dungeons, because you are not drastically hurting the economy or other players. Whereas teleport hacks or botting are a whole different matter that are actually detrimental to the game.

But saying that being banned for skipping lupi is unfair because it’s Anet’s own fault is kind of wrong, because you know pretty kitten well that you’re exploiting. A perma ban just isn’t completely fair.

Temparory ban seems valid, perma not. though shouldn’t happen twice.

If you exploit to get past Lupicus, no need for a ban. If you exploit to get past Lupicus and then sell the slots, I’m against it but not bannable.

If you exploit to get past Lupicus and then sell the slots again and again, yes that’s an exploit that should be bannable as you were making gold from profitting of that exploit.

Simple solution? Kill Lupicus.

I wasn’t complain about a suspension, that could be fair for those who use exploit but nothing more, even if they continue to use this exploit, maybe punish them with a longer suspension, and longer every time they get caught to exploiting something. This has to be an anet problem, if you don’t want that people use exploits then FIX IT!
