All traits and skills are reset and must now be obtained via the new trait system. Purchasing traits from profession trainers has also been removed.
Well its most likely going to be about leveling up new toons and how traits are acquired. Right now its almost impossible to get any useful major traits during the leveling process unless you buy from the skill merchant.

Maybe but they JUST acknowledged that trait thread, so I have my doubts.

Since they still think that +20 lvl exp scrolls make sense for birthday gifts, it’s probably going to reset all characters to lvl 1.
Otherwise, what else are we supposed to do with 2 scrolls per character?

This is dead on. It’s almost scary.
If Anet wants to educate new players, they should rather explain them the benefits of using META strategies over their PHIW style. If new players (me, my freinds, basically everyone I know) ever struggled with anything, it was not basics of the combat system, but getting started in professional dungeon runs. Unless one is completely blind, they are gonna understand how to fight in no time (hovering over skills to display their effects), but finding a group and doing a smooth dungeon run is much more of an issue for newbs.
They could have AT LEAST thrown in something that teaches players about the combo system a little better.

But seriously, this week’s reveals weren’t really great. It’s basically “stuff from China that we kind of barely reworked for you guys”.
The “Improvements Galore” thing was nice but 3 things doesn’t really deserve to be called “galore”.
I have a feeling the third week is going to be another let down. At least the first feature pack had one or two things that we were really looking forward to. But this one ? They shouldn’t gloat so much about it. The changes are nice, but not overwhelming enough to spread them across 3 freaking weeks.

I’m pretty sure we’re going to get a sort of UI change to make collecting tabs more appealing to look at, maybe a way to craft multiple siege weapons at once with the Mystic Forge (I think I’m having too high hopes) and a slim chance of player to player trading.

I’m pretty sure we’re going to get a sort of UI change to make collecting tabs more appealing to look at, maybe a way to craft multiple siege weapons at once with the Mystic Forge (I think I’m having too high hopes) and a slim chance of player to player trading.
You must be an undercover ANet employee trying to infiltrate our ranks in order to collect information to brin back to your superiors.
The updates themselves aren’t bad.
The problem is that ArenaNet is so focused on QoL improvements rather than actually adding content, that we’re reaching a point where everything is easily accessible, user friendly and convenient, but that the “everything” itself is just old, stale content.
Making old content less tedious is nice, but the changes need to be supplemented with new content.
Now you can argue that the Living Story is new content, but I see it basically as DLC – and while DLC works in singleplayer games (say, a 30-hour RPG with a 2 1/2 hour DLC is fine), when you’re making 2-hour DLC for a game where players will spend hundreds, if not thousands of hours playing … the content itself is just so negligible it’s pretty much a waste of resources. If they channeled the resources instead in to replayable content (new WvW map which actually effects match-up scores, the fatal flaw in EotM, new PvP maps, new PvP modes, dungeons, fractals, world bosses, PvE maps, etc.) then people wouldn’t be complaining anywhere near as much.
Now I actually enjoyed the latest two LS updates (going from the PS where the voice acting is like two animated bricks talking to each other in cutscenes) and the more assertive role of the player character is nice (though at the same time made clear that they’re simply a major player among other major players, i.e. the world leaders rather than Mr Badarse of Badarseington like what Bioware games tend to do) … but it’s too short. It’s not challenging either.

This little bit of dialog made my friggin’ week.
I <3 this toxic and vocal subforum.
This is a feature patch and not a content patch, so I’m not even kittening about not having new dungeons, or new WvW maps or new skins (hell we’re getting 2 new sets, unfortunately, from the data mines, they still seem to miss the point of our complaints regarding light and medium armor).
To give Anet some credit, a lot of the stuff that’s being include are things we’ve been asking for a year or two.
Except that they are only doing some of them.
-Out of the dozen of things we asked regarding WvW we get : account bound color tags. Not even more commanding options, anything related to /squad and /supply info. Nope, just colored tags, a mastery that we’ve known about for months and a new trick that will change WvW for a week or two before everything settles down.
Nothing about PvD, PPT and zergs.
-We’ll have to wait and see how the Megaserver changes are going to appease some of the complaints.
-No more dungeon owner. But what about abusing /kick ?
-We’ve had a long discussion on the lack of tutorial in this game, especially regarding combo fields, and we get : an arrow to point new players where to go…
-The skill balance may be the only thing worth seeing, but when they imply that Necromancers do not have enough survivability, we can already give up on seeing improvements for dungeon plays.
If you want to guess what’s going to be announced next week, check year old threads that could be sort of related to trading and collecting and pick the least important changes. Then try to write them in a way to complete hype it. Because that’s what we’re getting.
Like for example, the trading post will now have more advanced options so you can actually filter light armor only. Or the taxes will clearly be mentioned (don’t ever think that they are going to remove them).

Why would I be in the dungeon sub-forum if that was the case :p (oh I kid, I kid. We did have some attention recently. Let’s see how far that goes though).

This. Just look at the current LS forum as a measure of interest. It’s been stuck at 36 pages for 2-3 weeks. The dungeon forum and WvW forums, on the other hand still receive new posts, despite the fact that both dungeons and WvW are completely stale at this point.
