Which of these classes should I use to solo Arah? I’m leaning towards necro personally, as the condition builds can actually be good against lupi when alone, but I feel like the reflects and stealth might make lupi and trash skips easier on mesmer.

So what do you guys think?

Mesmer.
I feel like Necro is the most difficult class to solo since you lack in every department. Of course it is still possible, but I think you’re going to have an easier time as mesmer.

Both are painfully slow. But I would go mesmer if I were you.

I don’t have a warrior since I find them boring and uninteresting to play, so I’m just working with what I have. I also have ele, but I feel like the squish factor is too much for it.

i would recommend deleting your mesmer and soloing on your ele

Mezmer would be more lively to play than necro imo.

Didn’t you used to be a mesmer main? Hahaha but yeah mesmer is literally a purple headache to play right now and I kind of hate it. For soloing with ele, is it all just conjure bursting? And I main necro but I don’t really ever use it in PvE unless I’m feeling lazy, as I mainly WvW.

it’s depressing but mesmer is literally complete garbage. for me, warrior is infinitely fun trying to get big numbers on my hundred babbies but ymmv

i’d say ele or necro from your classes would be decent choices.

yes it is painfullly slow. I find myself switching builds and or weapon sets between each encounter depending on the path. Or even for certain trash runs.

I am gonna do it though….
cause if i can do it on a necro, everything else should be easy right???

right?

Necro for P2 because you can facetank Agent Belka using HP restoration, whereas other classes tend to have trouble.

Seriously though, you will get more respect as a Necromancer.

disclaimer – this is my personal take from soloing on both classes

Necromancer:
Damage not heavily dependent on pets/ai. More base hp. Access to long lasting personal stability in the form of elite transforms. Better access to fury. Good personal condi cleansing. Perma switfness is possible, but using wh 5 around mobs will put you in combat. Stronger at first Ooze boss of path 1, entities, and Brie.

Mesmer:
Reflects out the wazoo. Stealth. Decent condi cleansing. Good personal survivablity through evades/blocks/distortion. Cleaving auto attack. Stronger at Lupi, Jotun final boss, belka, alphard, Crusher/hunter, magecrusher, and the path 3 ritual. Will also have an easier time with trash skips and the path 3 orbs.

Bottom line is – there are a lot of places where reflects are really strong in arah.

Mesmer performance is directly correlated to the skill of the player playing it.

Yeah, same thing I linked. Is taht working in dungeons for you? Every one I’ve tried it hasn’t been working for me. Fine in the open world, or in story missions, so it’s not a complete loss and I’m not really upset, but I was hoping to use them in dungeons.

Nice, not quite as good, but it’s somethings. Thanks. My Mesmer needs any help he can get sometimes.

How would ranger compete with the other choices in terms of time? I’m semi-tempted to use a bear to “tank” some of the bosses while I hit it with the sword and its clunky ability to actually dodge, while the GS auto evade frames could be great.

What isn’t working about the hylek poisons? I’m literally sitting in Arah right now using them and nothing seems to have changed.

They weren’t working in COE for me the other day, and I want to say I tried in SE and or TA as well, though I’m not sure which but I know COE I tried multiple times with no luck on my mesmer. Then last night I tried in CM with my guard IIRC and it was a no go as well.

Doh, I was using the ones from the hylek in Caladon, this is what I was hoping the issue was, at least I can go get other ones. Thanks.

I use the ones from Sparkfly Fen and they work fine as well.
