I’ll apologize upfront if this has already been brought up on the forums, but wouldn’t it be better if the dungeons were set up so that they could be done solo? I enjoyed the kitten out of filling the dungeon books in GW1, but I could run through them when it was convenient for me to do them, regardless of who else was around, how many people might be looking for pick-up groups, or anything like that. I would just head in, clear it out, even if it took me hours, and enjoy myself immensely.

In GW2, though, I’m being forced to accept that I need to join up with 4 other players to go in and run through a dungeon. I know I don’t HAVE to do the dungeons, so realistically I’m not being “forced” to do anything, but the point is, I’d be much happier being able to jump into a dungeon whenever I wanted to and just run through it. If the DEs can be scaled to the number of players involved in them, why can’t the dungeons be equally scaled? I’m even cool with the rewards from the dungeon being scaled to the number of players doing it — the more players, the more rewards, so that if I do it solo, I’d have to run it five times to get what I’d earn from doing it once with 4 other players.

I know this is MMORPG, but kitten sometimes it’s just bragging rights — I did this on my own.

Someone in my guild said that he was able to solo some of the fractals. No idea what build hes running though.

In every one of these kinds of posts the spirit is this, and I think game-devs need to get it;

Design challenging content that adapts to the number (power) of players attempting that challenge.

Why?

Because then, lone players AND parties can come away from that challenge truly saying, “I am awesome!

What players have now is the feeling, “I’m too lame and weak, I can’t even kill a group of mischievous bandits.” and/or “this content has been made impossible, its contrived, bad design.”

It’d be nice if dungeons had a ‘solo’ mode (perhaps not the fractals as they seem to be built for parties). It’d just be nice to experience the dungeons even if you cant get your hands on a party.

Obviously the rewards in solo mode wouldn’t be as good as the group mode dungeons.

A couple of my friends and I have been three manning dungeons these past few weeks for the fun of it so when I saw this post I wondered if I could solo some dungeons. Well after doing several Fractals with my guild I decided to move onto difficulty 3 after they left. I managed to solo all of it in about 45min total with two total deaths, both on the stupid 4 champion pack at the beginning because they kept resetting.

I have full exotics with my armor stated for Pow/Vit/Tough with Emerald gems. My accessories are exotic emerald items and I have the rare Pow/Vit/Tough back from the guild vendor.

I think I could probably solo a few more dungeons but this is a good example of a dungeon that is fairly difficult but still manageable. And in my honest opinion the best solo class is probably a Guardian or Warrior if soloing is really what you want to do.
